  1. Embarrassingly, I was wondering why the hell they were going to Nigeria!
  2. He was involved with PNE in the 70's, I seem to remember, but I am fairly sure he was a Rovers fan in the 60's...
  3. Interesting. I can see the link with managers, but very few of the current players seem to be HSH. I can see at least 11 different agencies involved with the current team. Are you thinking that the agencies are working together like SEM and Salamanca Ferrer over the Rochina transfer?
  4. Luke 18:11 "Thank you, God, that I am not like other men."
  5. Tell that to Paul Agnew. Remember his comments about the "emergence of Jason Lowe "being the only reason for Salgado losing his place!
  6. Absolutely. The Bloomfield Road match was my first ever away game. Was that really the much-referenced Ammonia game? Yes, Tommy Hutch had Keith Newton on toast that night, but it did finish goalless-if we are talking the same game i.e. if Tommy Hutch didn't do it to the England full -back on more than one occasion.
  7. No. the posts were clearly harmless jokes. The mods overreacted by "hiding" posts . Response, disbelief and minor satire...
  8. Glad you added the last sentence or you might have had a ban for homophobia lol
  9. Actually, I think I replied to the wrong post! Is the Queens Park game a royalist reference? Will that cause conflict on the board?
  10. A very heavy-handed approach, Mike. You would have to have had a complete irony by-pass to define any of those posts as political.
  11. Careful! I heard that celebrity Claret(lol), Livesey, actually bragging on radio that he "couldn't bring himself to say Tony Blackburn's name." Years ago, I remember reading about the trials of a lowlife Burnley thug, who was called Steven Blackburn- so there us a God! "Bill, George..anything but Sue.."
  12. Never tried to read Joseph Conrad then!
  13. Agreed. I think we have had a run of poor, inconsistent goalkeepers over the last few years. Before that, we were largely spoilt with the likes of Sir Roger, Arnold, Gennoe,Flowers and Friedel.
  14. Yes...but because we are now operating in a lower league/at a much lower level than when the owners arrived...
  15. I am on a high. God, I needed that. What a performance! I have watched the goals again and again and I have loved reading the site. Not unlike Leonard Cohen/Bob Dylan/Morrissey, perhaps some of us only write, when we're pissed off!
  16. Yep. I raise you Jim Arnold...Stafford Rangers, Rovers and then Everton with Kendall
  17. A bit strong? I just thought Travis went in to win the ball. Not sure the Wed player did much wrong from the video, though.
  18. Yes, I have tried too. There was another great Field TV goal on London region's Big Match. It was a brilliant lob at Vicarage Rd-a bit like Shearer's v Norwich (7-1)-and I remember his toothless celebration...and me and my mate miming it at a disco the following week!
  19. He got a two even better ones for us v Watford and Charlton around 1972/3.
  20. Pretty sure we were on the way up until he left that December lol
