  1. To think I used to travel 60 miles for an early round Full Members Cup game! I am going again...but I know it will never be the same. It's funny how some happily berate fans for watching the match on TV instead. I confess to rather more resentment, when people chose to attend that Blackpool game, when there were hundreds of 'pool fans outside with us. Funny old world, as Jimmy Greaves would say...but that is what the Venky way of "respecting the Jack Walker leagacy" has delivered.. Happy New Year from a divided fanbase!
  2. Harry the Dog! I remember the documentary, featuring the game against Rovers-almost with affection.... As for the song.....
  3. An amusing study in externalisation! Ask instead: Why did Venky's trash the club in the first place, alienating so many fans. FOV!
  4. I guess it works for a few. It would certainly make me feel a bit guilty, if I wasn't going lol. I think that Tony is actually quite frustrated that some are staying away because of the "ever so 'umble" Venky's. He has certainly tried to intervene on that...and quite skilfully too imo.
  5. I think it is fair enough for Tony to say things like that. I am sure Don Mackay and Bobby Saxton said similar. But the game has sold its soul to TV long ago and even I can see the attraction and convenience of watching it in comfort by the fire, maybe with a beer.( I will be going to Ewood by the way.)
  6. So did I...and it was my second "boycott". I so get the frustration with the disrespect shown, since 2010. I don't think you need to justify yourself to anyone. I am interested in the varied opinions and positions of different posters. That is what the message board is for. I have never been to Benidorm beither, but a very long time ago, I made the mistake of going to Magaluf once! Don't go...
  7. Right now, I am thinking that the signing of BB is indefensible-if the fee is correct....and that is from a fully paid up member of the John O'Mara Appreciation Society!
  8. Funny, I was always so much more at home with "Mowbray had a dream" than "On, on. on, colours" or the quite nauseating "Swing Low, sweet chariot".... It was a different kettle of fish, when watching my own kids. and having to witness the difference between the culture of kids' rugby from kids' football, which by and large I found ugly and embarrassing-the parents, anyway!
  9. I agree. But how unlucky for the same town club to have two such poisonous episodes in 50 years! I think the most recent, unfortunate series of events is much, much more poisonous then our cup final ticket scandal. To continue your own metaphor, I fear this will require more than even Fr Merrin could provide.
  10. A pedant will tell you it was Joseph Merrick . I think they changed his name in the film for some reason....
  11. Point well made. I confess to being underwhelmed by the whole idea of this player, but (for political reasons) I saw very little of the Coyle campaign...and my memory may be more myth than reality...
  12. He needs to be in Rovers first team midfield now. To be honest, he should have been in the side months ago. Anything else is a concern...
  13. OMG..Please God, no! What a way for TM to lose all credibility!
  14. Love TM, but I couldn't help smile at.."But unless you have your tactics, words of inspiration and selection right.." I am confident that he always has the words of inspiration!
  15. He certainly called at mine over 30 years ago. I remember him trying to pursue his lecture on the ancient Greeks' 8 kinds of love (not a joke!) He did seem a tad frustrated, when I kept bringing the subject back to Rovers! All along the watchtower, They were wearing white and blue...
  16. Something financial probably. It still won't be helping the player. Unlike your good self, I am worried though.
