  1. I also have an image of Mike Newell in goal, but it might just be a great one handed save that got him sent off!
  2. Garner v Ipswich..around '87. The most infamous time was that 7-1 defeat at Shrewsbury. Don Martin went in goal, but the manager probably left an injured Jones on the pitch for too long...From memory, we had conceded 5 before Martin donned(!) the green jersey. So very proud of the players yesterday. We were so on top in that second half...the energy in that midfield..Harrison Reed WOW! Venky's must allow TM to build on this in January!
  3. Oh don't!...I have been trying to suppress that very worry.....
  4. As a fully paid up member of the John O'Mara Appreciation Society, I think this is a very balanced appraisal. I am worried by what I have seen and I am also slightly concerned about the possible dangers of the Ewood self fulfilling prophesy. Both Kevin Davies and Jimmy Quinn drew very negative responses from a crowd that they really needed to be on their side. Both achieved considerable success, once they were away from the frustrated Ewood crowd. I understand that Davies also had some health issues and that there were issues around the way Hodgson did/did not support him in a difficult dressing room. Thankfully, TM seems to be a much better man manager. The question for me is why we have invested so much money on one for the future, when the money might have been better spent on the here and now....but, of course, none of that is the fault of a nineteen year old....
  5. I think we have problems at both ends.I agree about the defending, but we really aren't scoring the goals, when we are on top...
  6. Quotations from hell .. "We are leaving the European Union." "We have signed Ben Brereton."
  7. There are several versions of the Gettysburg Address as well.".they shine their shields" though!
  8. I know I share your opinion, but I can't see how anyone could be affronted by this analysis...
  9. I can't argue with that. However, I was pleasantly surprised at Palmer's physicality and fight in the build up to the Bolton goal
  10. The time is now. So much is in place on which to build...but we do have to build...
  11. That is my own opinion exactly. A strange buy, in our circumstances. That said, I was rooting for him to have a good moment to encourage him, as soon as he took the field. I really want him to succeed and I don't buy for one second that anyone wants him to fail...or won't accept him, just because of the price tag.
  12. What a total waste of resources.I think we were in the play off positions just once... for a few hours...
  13. Actually, I think this would be a very good time to invest and build on a good squad to make it into more of a promotion one. Do it while still have Dack, Raya, Reed, Mulgrew etc
  14. True leadership quality. An emotionally intelligent manager with integrity and decency.. He has restored the pride and belief after such an awful few years.
