Would have been a fantastic alternative to Graham. Stand by my earlier prediction of no signings in tomorrow with the usual post window spiel coming from the club.
-
I hope I’m wrong but I reckon we’ll get the usual Rovers party line tomorrow of ‘we tried to get business done but it didn’t quite come off for one reason or another’.
-
Well it looks like the McGinn ship has sailed, but it always seemed like a real long shot in all honesty. Hopefully TM has a plan B lined up (or plan A if McGinn were the B!).
-
If we’re this interested in Bauer I would imagine it would mean we’re looking to play 3 at the back. Surely we wouldn’t be this keen for a CB to come in for the bench. That or he’s toying with playing Mulgrew elsewhere (which would be a mistake for me).
-
If he’s got an attitude then he won’t be coming here as TM won’t bring in people who could upset the apple cart. Surely everyone would be for McGinn coming in. Yes we’re relatively well stocked in CM but given he’d be head and shoulders above anything we have there it would be a no brainier IF we could get him. Hopefully we have a pleasantly surprising week.

The ironic thing about Palmer is that he and the club kept posting that video from training in which he smashed in 3 or so quality finishes from the edge of the box. Roll on to Saturday and... -
Doesn’t look like we’ll be going for any natural width this season then with Arma coming in and Palmer not a natural wide man. Big onus on the full backs to get forward.
-
You’d have hoped we were in for him given the roasting he gave a number of our players last season. Perhaps he just fancied Ipswich. Onto Maddison it is then Tony.

He certainly slipped down the pecking order big time after his reckless red at Pompey. You’d have thought he’s learnt his lesson by now. Think he should be pushing Evans/Smallwood for a starting berth personally. -

For those advocating bringing in Bell for Williams - not a chance IMO that TM will drop the latter. The only way Bell will start every week is if he goes with 3-5-2 so he doesn’t have to drop Del. -
Would be a big mistake to loan Travis out, but we urgently need an out and out striker in the Graham mould or it will be a long season with DG only able to last 60 odd minutes each week. Big week - let’s hope TM gets his targets.

Would have taken a point pre match but that’s sickening. Happened too often last season too - we need to see games out far better. Jal chats some utter rollocks but Nuttall should not be playing championship football. Striker in this week please Tony or we’re goosed if Graham gets injured, which he will given his ageing body can only last 60-70 per week. -

We are so poor at conceding late goals. FFS. -

Graham only being able to last 60-70 highlights the importance of getting a decent front man in this week (not Arma as for me he can’t play there alone). -

Jesus Christ I at least thought we’d be difficult opposition to break down this season... Gwion Edwards, the man I wanted us to sign before they got in there. -

Probably our strongest bench for some time (talent wise - albeit minus a different attacking option for Nuttall), evident with Downing and Whittingham not even in the 18. Going for 1-1 to start the season. COYB. -
Be nice to sign someone else so that the social media team don’t have to continue with their hourly Palmer updates. Good signing but anyone would think we’d signed Messi.
-
I think the ‘Agent Benno’ stuff was very poor in reflection given we ended up signing one guy who everyone knew was coming in. The club must have known that everyone would have suspected Armstrong or Chapman. Big few days ahead, need 3 players minimum.
-
Benno was tapping them both up on social media earlier this summer saying ‘agent Benno’, so logic would dictate that one of them is coming. My money is on Armstrong.

Lad couldn’t hit a barn door. Need to do better.

Been away for a few weeks and just catching up. Agree with the consensus of concern - out wide was our number one problem area and we’ve brought in absolutely zilch thus far which is very concerning, not to mention up front. If Graham is crocked come start of the season and we’re reliant on Samuel to bag the goals then we may as well wave the white flag now.

Don’t forget Perisic. Insane shift put in by him, was my MOM above Luka. -
Pleased with the signing of Rothwell; obviously had the best schooling possible so will be technically adept. Only worry is his injury record so let’s hope he’s more Richie Smallwood than Corry Evans on that front!

Mowbray has wanted this fella since January which is good enough for me. Good luck to him. Now for the next signings...
