Tinfoil hats at the ready. I suspect Wellens is being considered because of the contract situation with many players. They'll let them run down, or be sold on the cheap, and Wellens will be ok with that, as this is the highest level he has managed. Then, when we are relegated, he'll replace them with 3rd/4th tier standard players who have a lower wage. Wellens will get a couple of seasons as 'he knows the league'. All part of the dumbing down of the club.

Gerrard is a flop. His Rangers spell is looking like the exception not the rule. O'Neil doesn't seem to have the minerals for a play off fight, or next season's relegation battle should we not miraculously get promoted.

Richie Wellens would be awful. He's a lower league journeyman manager like Steve Evans, Nigel Adkins or Micky Adams. And Russell Martin is a mediocre Championship manager obsessed with pretty passing in his own penalty area.
