  1. No one has said that they spent a pittance. You seem to be arguing with yourself and missing the points that are being made.
  2. And they finance that by selling their top players and using the money to reinvest. They make a net profit on transfers every summer. This is where Mowbray is incredibly fortunate he get's funds to strengthen every summer and doesn't not have to sell key players to get those funds. Every summer Mowbray has been here we have a plus net spend on transfers, there aren't many other managers in the Championship who could say that. And of course another problem is that very few of Mowbray's signing would make a profit.
  3. Off to a cup game tonight my first live game of football since March, can't wait. To be fair to the BBC they always show a cup game in the early rounds on the red button. I didn't watch it but last night they had Maine Road against someone.
  4. I'm not insulting you I am insulting the stupidity of the stats. By the literal definition of assist then Nyambe did assist the goal. But by your stats' definition even though Nyambe ran with the ball took on a player and picked out Travis, he did not assist a goal. It's like JRC's goal the weekend its clear as day to anyone that it was an assist by Brereton but using your stats defenition it is not classed as an assist by him. Yet if someone passes to a player in his own penalty box and that player runs the length of the pitch with the ball and scores then the player who passed to him in his own box gets an assist. Does that not seem a bit stupid to you?
  5. Then you are just roving the stupidity of your own stats as without Nyambe's work that goal is not scored.
  6. Would you not class the 2nd goal away to Sheffield Wednesday as an assist for him?
  7. And who has put us in a position where we could potentially be the next Wigan or Bolton? I'd say the people who hate Rovers are those who still defend the very people who have taken our great club to the brink.
  8. It's not a diversion I just find it very strange as to why you are so worried about our best defender not scoring goals or assisting goals and yet you are a rather vocal backer of a £7 Million striker with 2 goals in 2 years. I suspect were Nyambe to have signed a new 5 year contract by now then would be singing his praises about what a good defender he is. Bbut because he is out of contract you are laying your ground work so that you can back Mowbray and say Nyambe isn't a loss if were to leave.
  9. How long until Mowbray tries to coach that exciting side out of his game? He's done it to Chapman and Rothwell already and I see that Holtby is the next target. https://www.rovers.co.uk/news/2020/august/holtby-encouraged-to-combine-skill-with-hard-work/
  10. Assist stats are one the more stupid stats. Take one of the goals at Sheffield Wednesday, a good run by Nyambe to take on a player, he plays the ball back to Travis whose shot is tipped on to the post and the ball then hits the goalie and goes in. If the the goalie doesn't save it and it goes straight in then Nyambe gets an assist but because it is tipped onto the post and then goes in of the keeper he doesn't get an assist. Just because it isn't classed as an assist it does not change the fact that it was excellent work by Nyambe and without it the goal would not have been scored.
  11. Chaddy you seem more worried about goals and assists from our right back than you do goals from our £7 Million striker who has 2 goals in 2 years. Nyambe is a defender his main aim is to keep the ball out, its the attacker's whose main job's are to score and create goals.
  12. If we sign him, then that is any prospect of playing out from the back gone.
  13. Surely it was for boy wonder John Buckley. Why else would such a talent not even make the bench for a League Cup game against League 1 opposition?
  14. You've cursed him Chaddy.
  15. Exactly if a bit of stick on an internet forum get's to him then he clearly doesn't have the right mentality to make it. The fans have actually been very patient with him given his dismal performances, I can think of some clubs whose fans by now would have been booing and heckling him form the stands by now. I've been watching football for over 60 years and I can tell you that Brereton is not a talented lad. A return of 2 goals in 2 years speaks for itself. He is a player who we spent £7 Million on we are entitled to expect a far better return than that.
  16. So it's the fan fault that he has mustered 2 goal's in 2 years? There was me thinking that it was him not being good enough and Mowbray for paying well above his worth but how stupid of me of course it is the fans fault. If a bit of stick from fans for his performance's are going to reduce his chances of coming to something, then he obviously doesn't have the right mentality to be a striker. I'd also dispute that the fans have been hostile to him I think that they have been remarkably patient and offered a lot of good will to him, he'd have certainly got a lot more stick from supporters at other clubs.
  17. I'm voicing an opinion on him that is the idea of a forum. It's up to him with his performances to change my mind and in 2 years at the club he has been unable to.
  18. I used IFollow for the first time yesterday and have to say I was very impressed with it.
  19. Dack is a good enough to player to play link up with anyone in front of him. Armstrong will be even better at centre forward with Dack behind him as he will have someone who is capable of feeding him with a quick forward pass and we lack players who want to pass the ball forward. If Dack plays as a centre forward he will get frustrated and end up dropping deeper and deeper to try and get on the ball.
  20. Armstrong is a centre forward.
  21. Brereton is not a goal scorer and never will be, I'm still not convinced he is a footballer. We can quite easily get Dack in his best position and still get Armstrong and Holby on the pitch.
  22. But it never does. Why try to over complicate things, just play your best player and most dangerous goal threat in his best and most effective position.
  23. I quite enjoyed the game especially second half, we certainly made hard work of what should have been a routine afternoon. Very few players enhanced their credentials to be part of the the first 11. The football we played until we went behind was far too safe, side ways and backwards passing, a lack of chances created and too few players getting into the box. Fisher 6.5- His distribution was better than his previous outings, made a couple routine saves. Perhaps could have done better for the second goal although he may have been unsighted by Leninan and it may have also taken a deflection of him. JRC 6- Out of position too often defensively and didn't offer a huge amount going forward. I still think it is imperative that we sign another right back as we have no reliable back up option to Nyambe. Lenihan 5.5- All of the place second half both defensively and on the ball. Wharton 7.5- One of the few players to emerge with credit and to enhance his credentials. Comfortable on the ball, good in the air and solid defensively. Also a lovely bit of play to start the attack for the equaliser. Bell 3- Shocking. Travis & Johnson 5.5- Disappointing performances from both. Failed to get to grips with Doncaster in the second half and offer no spark going the other way except for slowing play down. Holtby 7 - Nice goal and one of a few players who looked to pass forwards. Personally I would like to see him playing further forward. Chapman 5.5- Looks like he has enjoyed his lockdown a bit too much. He's a shadow of the player he was a few years ago much like Rothwell he just tried to keep things safe rather than take some risks to make something happen. Brereton 6.5- The role on the left is not a role that will make him look a £7 Million player but this was one of his better efforts. He seemed to really spark into like after we went behind but then when his big moment came he inexcusably missed the target. Armstrong 7- A decent performance but needs the ball into him quicker all this backwards and sideways passing doesn't help him. Rothwell 5.5- A very Rothwell type performances. A lack of end product and gave the ball away a few times. Also like Chapman he seems to have lost that desire to run at people and instead just played it safe to often. Dolan 7- Very bright, wanted the ball and to run at the opposition. Also unlike say someone what like Buckley he isn't easily pushed of he ball. He is the sort of player who has that spark that gets you on the edge of your seat when he gets the ball much like Chapman and Rothwell did when they first signed, lets hope Mowbray doesn't coach it out of him as well. His delivery is also good.
  24. There have been players who have contributed a lot more to this club than Mulgrew who have been treated much worse.
