Championship 21/22

Leaving my front door isn't necessary. Going to Tesco isn't necessary. Walking to the local shop to get a bottle of milk isn't necessary... Should we not be doing those things too? -
Championship 21/22

Of course, going to the football carries a risk. I'm with Chaddy on this, though. The risk is one which can be mitigated to a degree by following guidelines and being sensible. Chris Whitty talked last night about making personal choices based on priority. My situation is that I work from home all day, every day and for me going to the Rovers and being outside is important for my general well being (as long as we're winning 🙂). So, unless we're advised otherwise, I'll priortise going to the Rovers over other activities which may be equally as risky. I totally respect that others' priorites may well be different. There's no right or wrong here. -
I've thought for a long time that he commercial failings of the club are purely down to laziness. An excuse here, an excuse there. They just stick to the old ways and can't be bothered to take the risk of new approaches.

Attendances: A cause for concern
Wheelton Blue replied to SIMON GARNERS 194's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
If people do the right thing - get jabbed or do the test - I don't see the problem. Conversely, I'd be pretty narked if someone sat next to me if they hadn't. Needless to say though, I'll be at Ewood on Saturday. I've been working from home for 20 months now and, like Chaddy, the Rovers is my main social activity. I'm triple jabbed, tested and will wear a mask if I feel it's necessary. The alternative is to just give up. -

Thanks @roversfan99. I now understand what 'transition' means 🙂 -

Part of the problem IMO is a lack of choice of where to sit. Take a family of 4 with a couple of young kids, for example, wanting to go to an ad hoc game. The BBE may be deemed as too racous, the Riverside devoid of decent facilities. That just leave the JW Upper to go at, which for Birmingham would come in at £76 just for match tickets, and quite easily a £100 day out. -
Premier League season 21/22

Southampton, Leeds, Watford et al will likely have the cash to spend in January should they feel the need to. Burnley possibly less so. That could be the deciding factor. -

I'll take your word for that and leave it there. -

I haven't forgotten what I said. I remember quite clearly that I responded to your comment that you don't care about pricing, whereas I suspect that the vast majority do. -

And you're just trying to bait again with your usual condescension and arrogance. How pathetic. -

I'm just a season ticket holder who wants the club to do much better in terms of attracting more support. There's no need to be so defensive. Come on Gav, you're better than this. -

How wonderful it must be to have such a care free attitude towards pricing. Good for you. I suspect, though, that for the majority of our potential fan base in the local area - an area which is financially deprived if we need reminding - the cost of tickets is the primary factor when deciding to attend. -
Whether Mowbray has suddenly become a tactical genius or he's stumbled into some luck - at this moment I really don't care and long may it continue. Credit where credit is due. This run is amazing!

Spot on. I have a ST and at some games there's been literally 4 of us on our row. The experience - a la Preston & SheffUtd - was like chalk and cheese in comparison to those earlier games. I've paid my money, but I'm not overly bothered how many cut price games they offer if it gets more bums on seats. -

Where I sit in the JWU, it's £22 adult price for Barnsley, versus £32 for Huddersfield. No sense whatsoever. -

Huddersfield is a Categpry A game I see. Waggott has no commercial sense whatsoever. 15k tops. -

It's not just Mogga who survives home embarassments then. 0-6 at home to Charlton. -

Or if he finally decides he's done all he can. -
Jack would have gone ballistic at the 7-0 result, that's for sure.

Personally, I think Waggott's explanation of the ticket revenue is a cop out. All he's done is take the basic revenue numbers (average yield/ticket) from three scenarios/games and is using that as justification for not bothering to put any more effort in. He makes no mention of any additional revenue received on the back of the increased gates (refreshments, subsequent ticket sales etc); nor does he make reference to the possibility that the people who took up the offers may well have gone on to then buy season tickets. It's quite likely that the Preston gate was supplemented by fans who took up the Sheff Utd offer, had a good time, and decided to come again. The phrases 'loss leader' and 'speculate to accumulate' don't appear to be in his vocabulary. Very poor IMO and symptomatic of the general malaise.

@tonyoz Fantastic job yet again. Really interesting!!!!! Do you have a league table for the season thus far? -

A Wolves supporting mate of mine told me that it was £42 for Wolves fans to sit in those seats 'vacated' by Burnley. At those rates, if we do ever get back to the PL, Waggot will be in nirvana. -

My daughter goes to college in Preston. Her dilema of the day was what shirt she should wear, the home shirt or the yellow one. 'I need to maximise bragging rights' is what she said 🙂 -

I'm noticing that also. We seemed fairly comfortable closing out the PNE game.....in comparison to other games at least 🙂
