  1. There's more to it than that. We played on the counter attack home and away last season. We didn't really have a striker then either. We are more open at home this season and playing far better football but just not getting the results. Away from home we have tightened up defensively and are now scoring goals.
  2. I think we could do to get back to those 1-0 home wins from last season. Away from home though, that's 12 goals in the last 4 games. That would have been unthinkable last season.
  3. Stoke City 0-3 Blackburn Rovers | Championship highlights | Video | Watch TV Show | Sky Sports Fantastic header from Wharton, and really good cameo by Garrett. Hopefully that gives Moran confidence, he's starting to look like a quality signing.
  4. It's been 22 years since we last won 4 on the bounce away from home at this level.
  5. Sounds like a tactical masterclass from the Danish grandmaster.
  6. Cardiff equalise in the 96th minute then score the winner in the 99th Fuck off Preston🤣
  7. What a wonderful win at one of the form teams in the Championship. JDT really is a fantastic manager.
  8. Stoke form over last 5 games is won 3 drawn 2....conceded 1. I think that's fairly clicked.
  9. They took a gamble on someone with potential who was probably cheap-ish wages-wise for a Championship striker. Unfortunately he's also a massive crock. Looking more and more like a poor signing on a 4 year deal. Add to Hirst and Telalovic, and GB doesn't do very well signing strikers. The last truly effective striker we signed was probably Danny Graham. That was 8 years ago. Edit: forgot Armstrong.
  10. Looks like Stoke have hit form after a dodgy start to the season....unbeaten in their last 5 and only 1 goal conceded. They've beat Leeds, Boro and S'land in those 5 matches. Hope for the best, fear the worst. A draw would be a good result.
  11. On the decision to loan Buckley, Gregg Broughton said in September: "John is a player we have invested in heavily, we gave him a new long-term contract and he is a player we fully believe in as a football club. “He's a player that was knocking on the door not only saying, 'I want to be in the squad but I deserve to be starting games'. "Something had to give and we felt John should go out on loan. We are delighted that is a Championship loan and it was also vital that we had a January recall." Tomasson's view on John Buckley and potential January recall | Lancashire Telegraph Bucko isn't starting games under the new manager at SWFC. Looks like he could well be back in January. He'll probably get a chance if he does come back with JRC out until at least Feb. He's a talented lad, and clearly rates himself. Hopefully not getting a game at Rovers and SWFC is a massive wake up call for him.
  12. Just realised this is the dingle thread....thought it was the transfer thread and you were saying we were linked with him. 'my bad' as the kids say
  13. According to recent reports from TEAMTalk, Blackburn's Championship rivals Leicester City, Southampton and West Brom are all keeping tabs on the Chile international, ahead of a potential move when the market reopens. Blackburn Rovers, Burnley rivalry could stop Vincent Kompany getting January transfer target: View (footballleagueworld.co.uk) Haven't seen him linked with us?
  14. A third of the way through the season and: 1) we have the top scorer in the league. 2) we're only 4 points off the play-offs. I'm sure most would have accepted at the start of the season. Get the walking wounded back and you just never know.....
  15. Well said. Lots of delusional posts about 'Big Sam' football with the squad we've got, and delusional posts in general about getting a 'Souey' type manager back in cos he'd get us promoted ffs! Souey had the best squad in the Championship, I'm pretty sure JDT would get us promoted with Duff, Dunn, Jansen, Short, Berg, Friedel, Hignett, Berkovic etc We are now back to pre-1992 as a football club (with a slighter bigger fanbase and a far bigger wage bill). Problem is most teams in this division now have more money than us. Back in pre-1992 finances in the old Div 2 were more equal. We play the best football in the league IMO, with a team of Academy graduates, free transfers, loans. We only paid fees for 3 of the starting XI last night (CB, SS and LW). That's where we are as a club. We also had 7 first teamers missing last night, and at the very least should have got a point. If people think we're going to start playing percentages and flying into the play-offs they really are delusional. I think JDT is a fantastic manager, learning as he goes and adapting best he can. The problems are above him, as any rational person would acknowledge.
  16. That's it, hammer the young lad with obvious potential who was on for 20 minutes. You make PNE out to be Real Madrid🤣 They're just a team of experienced pro's who play percentages. Nowt special.
  17. Well summed up. The lack of depth has a knock-on effect. We also lack experience, they bullied us at times tonight.
  18. I thought we were pretty poor generally. When we showed brief flashes of our quick passing game we went thru them with ease. But generally our passing was really sloppy. Can't think of many who deserved more than a 6 out of 10. Thought Dolan deserved a 7, and maybe Hill, but the rest 5 or 6.
