Yeah, his knee was bad. Same again, no medical. Britt was signed before Gilliver but they were at the club briefly at the same time. He was a youth team world beater at West Ham before the injury. Scored a hat trick playing directly against Liverpool’s Tommy Smith in the youth cup final. He could only jump off one leg after the injury !

They’ve loaned players to go almost straight into the first 11. We loan players to sit on the bench.

He came with a back injury. Teams didn’t do medicals then. We ended up taking Hudds to a tribunal and getting some of the dosh back. The guy who treated me for disc problems also treated Gilliver and he told me he recommended him for a disc fusion which I believe he had. He went to see my guy un-officially because he didn’t rate the club staff. It was a shame because at Hudds he looked the real deal. A big, strong, hard running striker. Like Gally only he could play.

That’ll be next season then.

I’d like to see us go with 4 at the back and try and get forward a bit more. Then you look at the full backs. As a pair, the two worst defensive full backs in my memory.

We’d brought in players to play the JDT passing game. Then the new guy decides to play a more direct game without having enough of the necessary players to play that way. Flying in the face of the age old coaching dictum - “ quickly analyse the skill set of your players and decide on a way of playing that suits them best “. Looking at Gally he should be the ideal target man for that sort of game but everybody and his dog at Ewood knew he isn’t. Even JDT made the mistake of thinking he was. i was really optimistic after the Newcastle game but I’m afraid the last three games have sunk us. We needed 6 points and we came up with 2. Not enough I’m afraid.

We were gone when we gave Wharton to Palace. Everytime I look at the individual scores on the BBC site he’s the top player.

I could never understand fouling an opponent in that situation. As you say they can easily miss the chance, it’s possibly a 50/50. If they score it’s only 1-1 with 40 minutes to go. I’d have thought McFad had more experience than that. If there was 5 minutes left I could understand it.

One was a footballer, one isn’t. The Don could play centre forward, centre half and in midfield and still look good. No good having the physique if you don’t use it. Little guys like Speedie or Dickov were more of a threat physically than Gally .

I think he played for Brighton.

I’d rather have The Don than Gally. Agree about the other two.

Play the same way in Australia and we’ll get the same outcome. If the powers that be are happy with that, fair enough.
