  1. I wouldn't be rushing to get him back. He's always got a mistake in him. He's like a lot of lower level centre halves. He's ok withstanding a siege and when he's defending the six yard box. It's when the ball is in the other half, or when his team is in possession, he tends to switch off and get caught out.
  2. Johannson scored a goal any striker would have been proud of in the earlier round against City. They were two good players for Rovers. When they were just starting out I had hopes they would develop into a long term partnership. That didn't happen but to try and make out that the players we have now are somehow better is laughable.
  3. He was good enough win a cup winners medal with us playing out of position. None of our other " stars " has come near since then. We can't even get past the Doncasters of the football world with what we have at the moment.
  4. That is the problem - their ego's get in the way. They'll be thinking " we can easily out football this lot " but you need to work to get the right to play your football first.
  5. You might not have noticed but we aren't playing in the PL at the moment. I'd take either over Johnson or a lad who'll be going back to his parent club in May.
  6. Who else at this level has lumped £12 million plus on two strikers who can't hold down a regular place ?
  7. Now where have I heard that before ? We've got two " investments " playing at the moment. When they can get a game that is.
  8. Yeah really, If we had those two now we'd be in a much position regarding goals conceded.
  9. I don't know how you can say a player you've never seen kick a ball for us is the " long term number 1" left back. Bell had a better, bigger, reputation than this lad and he hasn't got near to making the grade. There was a time when I though Tiny Taylor and Johanneson were going to be our long term centre backs. Look how that worked out.
  10. You know it, I know it, and the thing is - the players know it as well.
  11. A lot of these players like Kipre come from impoverished backgrounds, some of them are the principal source of income for large extended families. I don't blame any of them for looking for the best deal possible.
  12. In terms of current form we're miles away from playing promotion earning football.
  13. Physical fitness, or more to the point, the lack of it, impinges on your mental fitness as well. A relatively fresh Holtby was mentally fitter than the Luton defence yesterday and his quicker reactions led to our goal. Would he have been that sharp if he'd have played 85 minutes ?
  14. That's what happened in Kipre's case though.
  15. They didn't have better players when he went there. The thing was he had a plan.
  16. So If I knocked on your door tonight and said - " I've just opened a new warehouse and I could do with a stand by fork truck driver. You can work days, they're brand new trucks, it's a heated warehouse, you just take over if one of the other lads is off sick other than that get your feet up in the canteen. Oh, and by the way I'm doubling your wages ". I presume you'd tell me to do one.
  17. It depends who's managing them. Dyche would have them roughly were Burnley are now.
  18. Channel 4 made a great job of covering the 2005 series. For a month or two it became the talking point of the nation.
  19. It's just a job to 80% of players. If you can get paid for not playing it's better than getting paid for actually turning out and getting injured, slagged off from the manager, abused on the internet etc.
  20. I like to see a confident player Ben. Good luck next week against QPR, if you get selected that is.
  21. Hilton Valentine, guitarist with The Animals. Responsible for the memorable intro on " House Of The Rising Sun ". A very under rated player. RIP.
  22. Most of the time " not knowing our best team or formation " and " playing poorly " go hand in hand. Looking at Dyche and that lot the secret of getting a group of pretty ordinary players to over achieve is to play the same way with the same players every week. I don't watch the dingles but I always look at the team sheets in the paper and I've more chance of naming their team before a game than I ever have of naming ours !
  23. We're not playing well enough to get into the top six. That'll have to change first for us to have any chance. We subbed off 4 players yesterday for tactical reasons. That tells me we still don't know our best team. We could play the four that came on in the next game and the chances are they'd get subbed off for 4 more players.
  24. I agree, he looks a very good attacking player but if he's a full back I'd like to see what he's like as a defender also.
