  1. No he played for Manfred Mann, I meant Phil Jones, as I expect you knew.
  2. The ball was going away from goal, not into a danger area. If everybody had have left it the ball would have ended up out by the corner flag. He was probably anxious to get into the game but that was a real mistake.
  3. If I'd a £5 for every I've seen Lenihan come out of the back line to get involved and then fail to deal with the situation I'd be a good bit wealthier than I am now. Paul Jones is the same, he's never smartened up either and that's in spite of all the top coaches they've had at Old Trafford. You just can't tell some people, they have an inflated opinion of their abilities that's hard to remove. Being drawn to the ball is a falling in most positions but at centre half it's normally a serious issue.
  4. I don't think the ball Douglas made a cock up of could be considered a ball that the goalkeeper should have come out for. If he stays back in goal the chances are we wouldn't have conceded.
  5. That's where most goals come from. If you're never there you aren't going to score many.
  6. He did his best to miss that last goal.
  7. I'd appoint him tomorrow if he'd come.
  8. " What happens if another club comes in and approaches Mowbray to go and join them " - And then you woke up.
  9. And then did nothing back at Southampton. I can't believe there weren't better options out there.
  10. How long have we been blaming " individual errors " ? For way too long in my opinion. As I said the other day he's had long enough to construct a defence that isn't capable of schoolboy errors on a regular basis. I knew not to turn my back on a long clearing kick out of defence before I was a 15 year old school boy. It's like when you're playing rugby, never let a high kick bounce. They are the rules you learn as a kid. When you're playing centre half, don't get drawn to the ball all the time. Hold your position and stay goal side of the opposition strikers. A well organised team will have all the squad singing off the same hymn sheet. Irrespective of injuries etc the way of playing stays the same.
  11. Let's hope there's some fans left as well. When you get to the point were nothing you can do as fans collectively influences what's going on, or more to the point not going on, at board level you start thinking why bother.
  12. What he usually says is "let's bring in some players to help the guys we've already got ". He never says " I'm signing " X " to replace " Y ".
  13. Me too. There was a lad in our youth league called Chris Cattlin, he played left back but he was nothing really special at the time. There was another lad who was twice the left back he was who never really got the break. Cattlin's dad was a Football League referee at the time and got him on at Huddersfield Town. He had a good career and later got a big money move to Coventry. He turned out to be a decent player but would that have happened if his dad hadn't have got him a leg up ?
  14. Yeah it's not often the whole defence has a really bad day at the office.
  15. Loads of stuff previously, but the porn star stuff wasn't from him.
  16. Me too, he wasn't flying 18 months ago but having said that he was out on the wing most of the time.
  17. Yeah it was totally out of order. I knew Chaddy wouldn't have posted that right away. A guy who posts on here from time to time managed to alter one of my posts to totally change the meaning of what I intended to say. You've got to be a complete tosser to do stuff like that. It's the only time I've complained to the Mods about another member of any of the forums I'm on.
  18. I think that'd be a fair valuation these days. He's not the finished article yet but he's worth that sort of money.
  19. That photo will be going in to a coaching manual illustrating how not to defend. We're all over the place. Nos 7 and 11 plus their guy on the centre circle are on the move. Our guys nearest the ball are flat footed.
  20. I've been saying this for years, collectively and individually we don't sense danger until it hits us on the chin. It's been going on for too long
  21. Yeah, we're un-playable, especially when we're up against 10 men.
  22. Joao had ability when he was here, it was just that he just played when he felt like it. Reading seem to have him motivated.
  23. If I'd have said that to my boss I would have been on a journey, to the Job Centre !
  24. There was some top class finishing on display last night. Armstrong's first goal especially was something else. When it's a instinctive finish there's nobody better, when he has time to think about it he's not as clinical. If he carries on in the same vein I would expected a team that is struggling to score in the Prem to coming knocking.
  25. The first goal was tragic. A long nowhere ball that shouldn't have troubled the " Dog & Duck " 2nd team yet an experienced full back turns his back on the ball, the keeper comes a mile out of his goal for no apparent reason, and it's a gift my mum could have scored. I will say this for Reading, they had players up to take advantage of the cock up very quickly. If that had have been Rovers we would have still been ambling down the pitch at that point. I thought JRC was going over to buy a pie for the third goal. Talk about being sent the wrong way. We were lacking in pace in our half of the pitch through out the game. What's the point of playing with two defensive midfield players if they can't prevent a free shot from the edge of the area. Joa took the fourth goal with a top class finish.
