  1. Correct, I was looking at the wrong team ! For some reason I’d got it into my head he was playing for Peterboro.
  2. What actually happened ? Did he pull a muscle lacing his boots up ?
  3. I thought what the ref did when he came back on with his linemen was a bit of a joke. At least they could have tried passing the ball between themselves a couple of times. The end result would have been the same but they would have had a bit more credibility.
  4. He came off at half time during their mid week game and he wasn’t in their match day squad yesterday. Make of that what you will.
  5. When he got riled he could put in a hard a tackle as anybody.
  6. Anyway to get back to what we actually saw. I thought we played quite well given the conditions. We seemed to have a pattern of play and a decent shape. I was expecting a lot more from Ipswich. They certainly didn’t look like a team that was playing in the Prem this time last season. Toth was my man of the match closely followed by Cantwell. We’ve got a good goalkeeper there. Miller did ok at centre back but I thought it was noticeable that Ipswich didn’t press him much, preferring to let him try to pass the ball out. Maybe they thought his distribution wasn’t up to much. The rest of the back four did ok. Alebioso had his hands full with their winger so he didn’t get forward as much as we would have liked. Cantwell looked our best player in midfield and he took a superb penalty under really taxing conditions. Regarding Ipswich booing him, somebody once told me- They don’t bother booing bad players Tyrone. Tronstad was just Tronstad, the new guy did nothing wrong out there but it was back to having two guys in central midfield who rarely get forward. Anybody know what happened to Tavares ? Up front I like the look of Morishita, he looked to be a threat. Hedges was quiet but steady. His good left foot is more useful out on the left I think. That brings us to Ohashi, I really like him and you can’t fault his effort but leading the line, especially in home games, is not his strength. I know he “ won “ us the penalty but I’d prefer Gudjohnsen there next time out. Bring Yuki on when the defenders have played 60-70 minutes.
  7. That’s like playing “ Russian Roulette “ though. One season you’ll get it all wrong and the latest set of new signings will relegate you.
  8. I agree that it’s time for some original thinking on the part of the football authorities. However given the fact that any original thought is beyond them I suspect they’ll follow precedent and decide on a full replay. If we were a Billy big bollocks club they just might have had a go at - play out the remaining game time with our opponents having 10 players - but they won’t.
  9. Yeah, today would have great. Hardly a cloud in the sky over here in Rochdale.
  10. Irma Thomas - I Wish Someone Woukd Care
  11. How childish is this “ thumbs down “ bollocks ? I’ve been on this site longer than I care to remember and I’ve never lowered myself to give somebody a thumbs down. Not once ! Either reply to the persons post if you don’t agree, or move on.
  12. It was playable when we kicked off. It was playable when we re-started after half time. By the time the ref said “ stop “. It wasn’t playable. If we’d have been in time added on he might just have let the game carry on, but we weren’t. And the rain was ceaseless and never looked like easing off. I can’t understand why he even bothered coming back out. Just for show I supposed. On a personal note by the time I’d walked back to Blackburn station I was like a drowned rat.
  13. You’re never “ in control “ at 1-0, especially in those conditions. We were “ in control “ at 1-0 against Big Club but we still managed to lose the game.
  14. I thought Ipswich were deeply average apart from the left winger who looked lively. He needs a “ quietener “ early in the game next time.
  15. Nope, 11 v 11, 0-0, the full 90 minutes and nobody on a card. Knowing our luck the guy that got sent off today will probably score their winner !
  16. At 1-0 ? Not a chance. If it was 1-0 at 90 minutes they’d still order a replay. As somebody said earlier City were winning an FA Cup tie 6-2 when it was abandoned due to a water logged pitch. They lost the replayed game 3-1.
  17. There was nothing in it for Ipswich to want to play on. A man down and a goal down. So they play several short passes all along the ground to make sure the ref sees the problem. They could have walloped it down field, but they didn’t. They did exactly what I would have done in the same circumstances.
  18. What I call a “ Home End Penalty “. If it happens down the other end it’d be play on.
  19. It’s a bummer but it’s football. The pitch got them out of jail. I was right in line with that last passage of play and the ball just wouldn’t run at all. It had become a lottery and it was highly dangerous in my opinion. So they get to come back and play a full game with it being 0-0, 11 v11, and nobody on a card. “ Some Guys Have All The Luck “.
  20. No way will the club turn down a chance to make more money !
  21. Kargbo was fast asleep. He should have anticipated the ball would stick, but he didn’t,
  22. In the late 1960’s against Charlton. It was called off at halftime when there were obvious pools of standing water on the pitch. We losing 1-0 but we won the replay later thst season. Just before them scoring we got a break down the right wing the ball was crossed in around the penalty spot into a pool of water. Our striker had an almighty swing at it, ( Alan Gilliver ) a gust of wind blew the ball away like a toy yacht. He missed the ball completely, lost his balance, and fell into the pool of water. Everybody in the ground was laughing, all the players, even the ref.
  23. I’m a dinosaur regarding the modern world so I usually have real paper tickets sent out to me by post. The last two times the tickets that I ordered first thing on Tuesday morning and were apparently sent out to me by first class post that evening have failed to arrive. So I’ll be queueing up for replica tickets today. Once, Mm, OK. But twice ?
