  1. I like that in theory, but I feel the midfield then is just too weak and we will be dominated in terms of possession every game. Maybe when we get Travis back and if Holtby can maintain top performance...
  2. The thing is Williams and Lenihan have a natural partnership and make each other better than they are individually. Not by a great deal, but by enough to make a small difference. I would have expected TM to see that. Left back remains questionable. Douglas is ok - which by itself is an improvement on Bell - but merely ok is not enough to cope with quality teams. Fortitude is going to be needed in droves tomorrow.
  3. How long until Williams returns? If we can't get Lenihan's red rescinded we are in very serious trouble I am afraid to say. No matter how well the team is otherwise doing if we have a large open gap in CB with only inexperienced youngsters filling in...things do not look good.
  4. feels like a win for sure! No idea who what team we can put on next time but we take this result for sure
  5. Lenihan has some qualities but there is no denying he has very, very little footballing intelligence. What does he think is going to happen when he is pulling and pushing the opponent in the penalty area? Instead of giving away just a goal he gave away the entire game with that. A joke that he is given the captain's armband too, you need someone with a head on their shoulders for that.
  6. get in wow we did it right at the end delighted! heart stopping that was. Fantastic, premier league goal by Elliott. Arma mostly quiet but got the goal when we needed it most. Defense did ok but Millwall totally dominated the midfield....we need Travis back soon. Credit to Downing when he came on, added a burst of quality and ball control that was instrumental to the winning goal. I must say though what an ugly, ugly anti-footballing side are Millwall. Really don't like playing them. And whatever contention they may have with the referee at the end, he gave nearly 2 minutes extra time on top of the 4 minutes stoppage time already played, for no reason at all. And throughout the match he failed to properly punish them for all their kicking and breaking of play. We just about edged this one but urgently need to address the lack of midfield possession, not much point having four strikers on if we can't create chances for them.
  7. How are Derby with all their resources doing so poorly, actually bottom of the league? Really bizarre.
  8. thank God we held. Pulling out these wins is nothing short of sensational, and no one can tell me otherwise when we are on what, our 3rd choice defensive line up? 4th? And even the starting one isn't top notch. We are bombarding goals upfront and at the same time are being bombarded by injuries, it's a war.
  9. We are the top scorers in the league for a reason. And we have a very decent GK. The only thing stopping us this season is covid and injuries. Not much we can do but have a prayer on that.
  10. If we have no alternative, we have no alternative - but we fell to the Championship, and before that League 1 solely because of them. Whatever Steve Kean failed at, he was completely their project and they bear full responsibility for all of that. After which they disappeared and pretty much never said a word again. Do we have to be thankful that they haven't folded the club? Pretty sad state of affairs if that is the actual fear.
  11. Serbia have to be the biggest underachievers in world football right now, they have players from Real Madrid and Inter and top clubs throughout Europe, but consistently fail to qualify for tournaments and now were knocked out by a team that until very recently was relying on Charlie Mulgrew in defense....
  12. It just feels so tragic. We do so well when we have even just over half our first team on, we would be near the top of the table, but it just seems our promotions chances are being stolen from us by this virus lottery and endless injuries to key players. We haven't had so much potential since the Mark Hughes days and we won't be allowed to make use of it.
  13. I won't be 'happy' either because when healthy we have a great squad that is worthy of being promoted, but it is completely mental how many players we have out.
  14. playoffs? At this point we have to be happy with staying out of the relegation spots.
  15. I cant blame TM right now. It is beyond absurd what is happening to our squad with injuries and covid. People will say well every club is facing the same challenges, but then what sport are we playing? Pick from the scraps left from the bones? Virus tombola every week? It doesnt feel like a sport anymore.
  16. I mean no Travis no Johnson, Lenihan suddenly gone to pot this season, and GK injured.....we'll do well to hang on to this score and not get routed.
  17. If the stars align and we get promoted, would there be an option to buy him? If Brewster ended up at Sheff United, I see not why it should be impossible...
  18. Mad season and mad results continue...clearly we have an exciting attack force, and this is still without Dack - who obviously will make us even better when he returns. The defense needs to be solved though, and maybe Lenihan-Williams feel confident with each other, same country and all that, and elevate each other to a higher level than each can play individually? IDK if it's a coincidence or not but they both seem to do their best when starting together. Maybe Ayala needs to be used as back up? IDK the answer, but we need to think about the situation carefully.
  19. Back to the drawing board. The big 5-0 and 4-0 wins, as enjoyable as they were, 1) did not reflect any actual superiority we have over other teams at this level and 2) have made us at least a little bit complacent, which against good teams like Watford translates into exactly what happened tonight. You need to fight to the death for every single ball and every single throw in, anything less and its mediocrity and worse. Which to be honest is why you need a very good manager to drill discipline into their minds. Tony can't do that, simple. Whenever we start playing good, we always without fail slump back into a rut. This is exactly down to a lack of discipline.
  20. Lenihan once again. Sub him off. This is embarrassing. What is he doing.
  21. Incredible. We control everything from the kickoff - Watford one brief glance ahead and 1-0. Lenihan tragic marking. Really starting to lose confidence in him.
  22. So is Tony to blame for failing to get in signings that we can actually use in the team straight away, as was needed today? If not and the FA has made in next to impossible to sign players without it being too late to feature them in your first squad after the transfer window ends, as apparently Tony is claiming, then the FA need to be made to explain themselves. Either way it is a shambles. We needed our players today, not some time down the road in the future.
  23. wow I don't know what's happening, but I'm liking it. First time I've said that in a long while.
  24. Really disappointed with Tosin's choice. He'll be back in the Championship next season begging for someone else to sign him. He talked about not only starting but captaining Man City soon, then gave up straight away.
