We never struggled to attract fans when we were in the Premier League. Bolton, Wigan, Preston, Blackpool are all down. We could easily dominate Lancashire (and in to Cumbria and Cheshire) again if we had a marketing team worth their salt. Burnley have never held much appeal for most - even with their huge celebrity American backing (Dude Perfect / JJ Watt) they're incredibly unfashionable. Alas none of this will happen with the current owners in charge.

That's exactly the point. People are spending their hard earned cash and their time supporting a team that is trying their best. Unfortunately those in the Board Room and the Owners aren't singing from the same hymn sheet. All they care about is reducing costs to a manageable level - which will ultimately end in tears - and they have no interest in pushing for promotion. Those poor fans are being taken for a ride.

PL clubs tend to hoover up anyone promising these days - they'll just loan them back out.

What's our budget? Literally every GK we've played against this year has been better than Pears. How much would that Tickle lad at Wigan cost? If the budget is £0 and £5,000 a week in wages then yes it'd be a tall ask - but you could still find better (albeit you'd probably have to go foreign and find a FA) as Pears is woeful.

As I've repeatedly said, that goal he conceded against Wigan in the FA Cup was enough for me. I'd seen enough then - no professional GK should be beaten from there. He'd have been 3rd choice GK until I could quietly ship him out if I was in charge. Sadly it's only got worse.

I'd suggest it's mainly because very few were happy with the appointment in the first place, the results have tanked (and the players seem to have downed tools) and he has almost no track record of success to quell our fears. The fans will quickly turn on him.

He took too long on it and he had to fire it across goal. If it's saved it at least then gives another Rovers a chance (Gueye was sat there waiting to pounce). Instead I feel like he panicked and just tried to get a shot off on target - on another day it goes through the GKs legs, but it wasn't a good shot.

You have to give another player a chance - in many ways GK is the most important position on the pitch. If you have a bad one it's really, really difficult to recover from. That said, Pears is a symptom of the Venkys. Similar to how Dolan has racked up 200 games for us (at 23). We're in football purgatory when poor players like those two are run out there week after week with zero repercussions.

There's a full Barnsley game on Youtube from that season - against Sheffield Weds I think. They lost 2-1 and the football was absolutely dire, it was literally just about getting the ball 'in the mixer'.

He's played 3 times - twice in the cup and once in the league. He looked no worse than Pears, and that's after basically no football.

They look like they don't know where they're meant to be playing. Big, big gaps in the attack as players just run wherever they want. This lad will take us down.

The thing is, if we're honest, there isn't a single player on our books that you'd pay good money to watch play football. They're all eminently replaceable. They absolutely shouldn't have the ability to pick and choose which manager they want to play for. That said - until we get new owners in it's all for naught. We've been run into the absolute ground.

It was clear from the improvement in certain player performances from JDT to Eustace that a good portion of our current squad are soft as shite and need a constant arm around them. The new manager won't do that - which is why he's a shocking appointment. I will add - I hope Eustace goes down with Derby and they stay in League 1.
