  1. Thought Brown had a decent first half, then a shaky second. Far too early to tell if he will make it at this level, my gut tells me that he will be here and make the odd appearance until January before he goes on loan to a league or two below, then probably spend his career there.
  2. I guess we're in for a few weeks of utter silence now. June 30th his contract expires? In venkys world that is plenty of time to get around to it, they won't have a clue that the new season starts exactly 4 weeks after that.
  3. Nixon will just link us to everyone out of work over the next few weeks until the position is filled. Then claim an exclusive.
  4. I imagine we'll get about 4/5 weeks of absolute silence now save for the odd tidbit from Mowbray through the LET. There will be nothing from the official site for weeks, until middle of June when some desperado that we didn't think of takes charge. Farke is a pipe dream I'm afraid, even if he has some interest I have no faith in them getting the deal done.
  5. For what it's worth, I heard the exact same thing at the game today. Obviously no idea if true but the person who said it doesn't make things up.
  6. They are planning huge protests tomorrow i read, pitch invasions and all sorts.
  7. Gerry Cinnamon is playing a gig at Hampden the night we play Celtic so that could be something to do with the high prices.
  8. First game announced... https://www.rovers.co.uk/news/2022/may/05/rovers-announce-celtic-friendly/
  9. Guessing its something Nixon has said on his patreon.
  10. Why? Surely you have seen what venkys have done over the past 12 years, they haven't all of a sudden figured out that we should be appointing the best available.
  11. I imagine the likes of Brown, Carter, Garrett, Vale & Butterworth will be used to pad out the squad next season if there isn't much money knocking about. Carter could very well go straight into the side given his last loan spell. I would say we need at least 1 right back, 2 centre halves with Ayala never being fit, 2 central midfielders and a striker.
  12. I'm a bit of a geek with season reviews as i had them all as a kid and watched them all hundreds of times. There are season reviews out there from 89/90 and 90/91 but must be ridiculously rare. They then released a season review every season from 91/92 to 97/98. 98/99 has a half season review but no end of season one presumably because of relegation. There was no review for the 99/00 season ever released. 00/01 had a half season review, then a full season review at the end of the season. (Which is probably the worst one they ever released to be honest). 01/02 & 02/03 were both on VHS with a special double VHS in 01/02 showing highlights of the Worthington Cup run plus the full 90 minutes of the final, which was released separately to the end of season VHS. (This was later re-released on DVD with the 94/95 champions DVD) 03/04 had no review, with 04/05 just being a short DVD of all our goals that season which came with the ST renewal pack. 05/06 through to 10/11 all had a season review released on DVD, with nothing else until the 17/18 League one DVD, and nothing since.
  13. My group here in Cheshire went down from 5 to 2 in the summer of 2012, with the last one dropping off in 2015. (Although we're back to 2 now considering my lad started coming at the start of the 15-16 season). All have probably been to a handful of games since (mostly early after the relegation). I still see them occasionally around town and all seem fairly clue'd up on whats going on football wise i.e with results and players etc, they just have no desire to attend games anymore. One lad was my age, while the other 3 were older and are in there mid 60's now.
  14. Lambert on paper was the most logical appointment venkys have made. In reality, he was bang average, but if given 5 years at the job I reckon he would have done at least what Mowbray did.
  15. A quick appointment and for it to be Farke is absolutely dream world stuff in venkys land. I just don't see it happening.
  16. Was just going to ask that. Absolute silence from the club. Until I see it on Rovers official twitter I am firmly gearing myself up for starting next season with Mowbray in charge.
  17. Not a chance. If Mowbray does go by by weekend, it will be Venus taking charge.
  18. David Lowe and Ben Benson are still under long term deals, and I presume will be staying on. The worrying one is that Mark Venus isn't out of contract with Mowbray. All points to Venus been given the job IMO.
  19. Not sure I agree with this part Gav. Bowyer inherited a much bigger mess than Mowbray did. A season following utter chaos with Shebby and Shaw still squabbling, a season following 5 managerial changes from k*an, Black, Berg, Appleton, a squad containing the likes of Orr, Murphy, Etuhu, Best, all those weird Portuguese lads. He then put a squad together in his first season signing the likes of Gestede, Marshall, Conway, Cairney, Evans that was still in with a very slight chance of finishing 6th on the final day of the season. The year after is the sickener under Bowyer as a seasoned Championship manager would have had that team in the top 6 at least in my opinion, but we still finished 9th. Something Mowbray still hasn't achieved yet in 5 years. Now look at who Mowbray inherited. Raya, Nyambe, Lenihan, Mulgrew, Williams, Bennett, Evans, Conway & Graham. All those were lauded as hero's 12 months later for finishing second in the third division. Mowbray even gave most of them new deals, and with the exception of Raya, all look like they have walked away for nothing. I'm not having that Mowbray has saved the club from some sort of oblivion, he's been the most average manager I have ever seen and done nothing more than the bear minimum I would have expected from somebody given 5 years at the job to shape the club as he saw fit. I'm personally glad to see the back of him, although admittedly a bit anxious to who comes in next.
  20. Highs - My first high following the club was the Wembley play off final in 1992. Just a cracking, although very tiring day that i spent with my mum and grandad that i remember vividly. Nearly 30 years to the day i was so hoping that i would be able to take my son to the Play Off final this year and watch us get promoted again to relive the spirit of that day, unfortunately doesn't look like its meant to be. Obviously have to include The Worthington Cup win, and the promotions at Deepdale and Doncaster in there too. Lows - Alan Shearer leaving would have to be the first one, then relegation in 99 was a tough one to take, although eased knowing that the club was still in pretty good shape to bounce back. The whole Kean debacle and various things that have followed have to top it though, at times it's been an absolute chore over this past decade. Sublime - Being in the Liverpool side of the Anfield Road End on May 14th 1995 was probably my favorite ever day following Rovers, i was decked out in Blue and White and i can't say enough good things about the locals around us who genuinely treat us like royalty. They ushered me and my Mum all along the row to get next to the Rovers fans at the final whistle so we could celebrate along with them. Incredible day that will never be topped or repeated.
  21. Think Paul is getting his games confused somewhere. I think he means after the Sheffield Utd game on November 5th rather than the Forest game in Feb. (As after Sheff Utd we went on that ridiculous run that got us to second).
  22. I could see a potential big walk up on Saturday if Sheff Utd don't win tomorrow, but still dont think it will be anywhere near selling out. If we could hit 20k it will be a success in my opinion.
  23. Not a chance it will sell out. Even if all available tickets did somehow go, there is still the Blackburn End Upper and the other half of the Darwen End Lower to open up yet.
  24. Wonder when we will close the Darwen End lower to home fans for this game due to lack of interest? About 7 seats sold in there for Saturday looking at the online planner...
