  1. The only other televised game I can think of with Tugay scoring is the 7-1 against West Ham in 2001, can't imagine Andy Gray would have been on commentary for that one though.
  2. I think if we had hit over 3k, the club wouldn't have stopped tweeting about it etc. I think it was around 1400 sold at the start of the week, so if we can get close to 2k it's a decent effort.
  3. Seemed a bit sharper than usual last night albeit against a poor side. Hopefully it's not a case of him being an unused sub for the next three weeks and he gets another good half hour on Saturday to push him towards starting a few matches. Although he hasn't looked up to much in previous cameos, I do think Mowbray has managed him terribly so far.
  4. Bare in mind he was only in charge for the first 7 games.
  5. I didn't really enjoy the first half, sure we had a lot of possession and a few chances but I felt we were in for another of those nights. Mowbray's subs are often bizarre, but I thought the two last night gave us a lot more energy for the final half hour and worked well, Brereton and Samuel looked hungry, but we have to take into account how poor the opposition were. Armstrong is on his way to getting my vote for player of the season, some fantastic goals this season and when he gets going he takes some stopping. Funny league this, after writing the season off on Saturday, two big results for us tonight and all of a sudden it could be all to play for again.
  6. Two woeful corners from that Maddison there. What a horrible game.
  7. When was this magical hour that I see mentioned every now and then?! Looking back, I can only find us in the top 6 of this league twice since relegation in 2012. 22/08/12 - 06/10/12 Just after relegation, we bounced around in the play off positions for around 6 weeks or so, even spending a week at the top of the table. 22/11/14 - 06/12/14 Two weeks spent in 6th place after a 10 game unbeaten run, we then lost 2-1 to Sheff Wed at Ewood and never got anywhere near again.
  8. I imagine Bennett takes JRC's place in the side, and Buckley takes Bennett's place on the bench.
  9. I was talking about this at the game yesterday and how concerning it is. Due to the utter mismanagement of our first team squad, it will look like this at the end of the season unless any of our lads out of contract sign new deals before then. I'm taking into consideration players who have played first team games or have squad numbers... GK - Fisher Defence - Nyambe, Lenihan, Mulgrew, Wharton, Magloire, Williams Midfield - Bennett, Chapman, Travis, Evans, Johnson, Davenport, Rankin-Costello, Buckley, Rothwell, Holtby, Dack (probably not available until Christmas) Strikers - Armstrong, Gallagher, Brereton, Butterworth Now, I suspect Bell and Downing might get offered new deals, so we could probably add those back to the list. I personally think we will need 6 players of good quality just to stay as a plodding mid table side let alone a non existent push for the top 6. A GK, two centre halves, a left back, a wide player and a Striker. What's the betting Mowbrays first signing of the summer is an attacking midfielder?
  10. Correct. Although if we think like that there would be no point in discussing anything that happens in games after the final whistle goes!
  11. This sort of nonsense drives me insane. It makes it sound like we have been bouncing around the third and fourth division for the past five decades prior to 2018, and we should be damn grateful that we're punching above our weight in this league. We're not Rochdale.
  12. Chaddy, this is becoming painful, yes I get that you said that in your first post after the game, that's fine, but YOU said in the above quoted post that it was onside from the footage YOU had seen. When you were asked about this, YOU said it was from the EFL show on quest, as you can see from the quoted posts above. So my question to you again is this, how from that footage on quest, when they didn't even analyse it after the game, could you tell it was definitely onside? You can't possibly say for certain on that one angle if it was or not.
  13. The £12m on non players is conveniently forgotten about when we're talking budgets.
  14. These were your original posts, forget what Mowbray says, you clearly say it was onside from the footage you had seen. When you were asked about it you said from the EFL show on Quest. So I'm wondering, how could you tell from the one angle on quest that he was onside? It's inconclusive. Also, I'm not saying it was definitely offside, I can't tell from the footage available, and I'm certainly not taking Mowbrays word for it.
  15. You said it was onside because you saw the footage back on Quest. That footage didn't give any conclusive verdict either way. Now you are saying it was onside because Mowbray said it was, then had the nerve to ask if we think he is lying. I'm not going to blindly accept something because Mowbray says so, he also said earlier in the season when he was getting a bit tetchy, that Gallagher scored two against Preston, and it was a "load of crap" that his first went down as an own goal. It was an own goal, if it didnt hit the keeper on the head then it doesn't go in. Sky didn't mention it, it didn't get a mention in the Quest analysis, that enough tells me that nobody really saw it as a big deal and would make me lean towards it being off rather than on.
  16. More likely that we go through the motions and limp through the rest of the season picking up the odd win here and there.
  17. Not sure you can say he is definitely on from the footage on Quest, inconclusive. Sat in the Riverside it was close, but I couldn't say either way whether it was on or off. Anyway, special mention for Bradley Johnson today, he was simply horrible. The season is gone, surely we should be looking at Davenport for the rest of the season and hoping he can forge a partnership with Trav to take into next season?
  18. Yes without a doubt, you could say Bob Crompton too but he was well before any of our times on here. I'd love to see a statue of Garner, his record goalscorer achievement will never be overtaken in modern day football, with maybe a plaque listing the dates and opposition of all of his goals. Probably far too much effort for a venkys owned Rovers though.
  19. Makes me laugh if that's correct about us wanting to get home fans behind both goals. I'm all for it, we could make it unreserved seating, promote it as a singing end etc. Oh, wait...
  20. Obviously Clayton, Douglas and Parkes's playing days are before my time but it's obvious that all three of these great men could have the title as "Mr Blackburn Rovers. My grandad used to tell me about Clayton and Douglas all the time, real hero's of his, and any "older" Rovers fan you speak to in any walk of life will probably say the same, it's such a shame there isn't much video archives of these two in there prime because it's something I would love to see. I have met both too, Ronnie on a ground tour in the late 90's and Bryan at the hall of fame event last year. For anyone my age though, mid to late 30's Tony Parkes is just synonymous with the club, he was the one constant in my first 15 years or so of watching Rovers, and it felt like throughout my child hood and into my teens that he was constantly bailing us out of trouble after various managers had made a pig's ear out of things. For anyone who has the 96-97 season review VHS theres a long feature with him on there and how well he speaks of the club, the town and the fans. It's a shame the way he left in 04, but the testimonial night in 05 certainly went some way to making it up to him. I think if Ronnie and Bryan have stands named after them, then Tony certainly deserves that honour too. I'm looking forward to seeing him come out on the pitch today.
  21. We have been here many times in the venkys era, expect the most meek performance you have ever seen and a 2-0 defeat.
  22. I'm literally speechless at the thought of a training pitch being named after him. Bloody hell.
  23. I think he'll go with a midfield three of Bennett, Travis & Downing, with Gallagher, Armstrong and JRC in front of them.
  24. Think that's a bit harsh to be honest, yes it's £5 a ticket which is amazing, but it's still potentially a long and expensive day out in London, for which in all honesty is mid table second division game. If we had won those two home games over Christmas and were sat in 6th or so it would have been interesting to see what following we could have taken.
