  1. Bit of a difference there to compare Mahoney and Shearer I think, yes it was his boyhood club but Shearer was in his prime and moved for a world record fee to the side that had finished second in the premier league, and looked like it could go on and win things for the foreseeable future. Mahoney was a kid who had just been relegated to league one, on pittance, and moved to a top flight club on 14k a week as mentioned above. I don't blame any player, whether they are a fan or not for taking the route that Mahoney did.
  2. Supporting a club goes out of the window when you become a pro unfortunately, I don't see how some can't grasp that.
  3. Are we getting some confusion between JRC and Buckley here?
  4. Surely by now you have learned that Mowbray says a lot of things ? I think most players would choose money to be honest over the club they support, it's a short career to make your millions after all. He might end up back here one day who knows.
  5. Was just about to post these two, I always like the early cup games from that period having two Rovers fans up front seemed pretty special to me. Remember away at Everton in the FA Cup in 2007 they played up top together, ran them ragged, both scored and we were 3-0 up at half time.
  6. Not really, Mowbray probably wouldn't have started him until Christmas, and I'm guessing he got a pretty good offer to go and further his development at a well respected top flight club, for a lot more money too. No brainer for the lad.
  7. I agree with this, such a poor appointment, which in my opinion was a really lazy appointment, "Hughes was a great ex player and it worked so it probably will with Ince". At least Williams and the club acted fairly quickly though, if that appointment had happened under Venkys it would have been March before we would have looked to get rid of him, if at all.
  8. I can't imagine JRC will be starting games anytime soon, no matter what Mowbray says. I think we'll start to see plenty of substitute cameo's from him though, with maybe a few starts towards the end of the season.
  9. I'd like to think we will be full of confidence after last week, and nice and refreshed after the trip abroad this week. Seen far too many false dawns with this lot though, I think we'll scrape home in an unconvincing 2-1 win, but it wouldn't surprise me at all if we lost 2-0.
  10. I'll be honest, I don't think I would be too concerned about losing Buckley for £10m.
  11. Talk of that Polish lad is pie in the sky, never going to happen. @Paul Mani When are these 8 figure bids coming in for Buckley? Could do with them ASAP to get a couple of players in and to help with FFP.
  12. Has anyone said it's a right mid? Thought it was just pure speculation from Sharpe that he said that a right sided attacker was favourite.
  13. 18 months on his deal yet, signed a new one in April last year.
  14. This will be the classic "Mowbray pulls out a result from nowhere game" to get everyone talking about the play offs again. Sheff Wed 1 Rovers 2
  15. Well the last three have all been unemployed, cheap, and with a championship promotion on there CV. Before that there was the ex player obsession, the promotion from within, and Michael Appleton for some reason. They are not suddenly going to go out and find a young dynamic manager doing well at another club.
  16. I'll be honest I hadn't really heard of him. I do remember someone who played well against Arsenal and thought at the time he looked good, but by the time he rocked up here I had completely forgotten about him, then reading about him jogged my memory so I was somewhat hopeful. Whilst he hasn't really shown anything in his cameos to suggest there is a player there, the finger has to be pointed at Mowbray as well as I think he has completely destroyed any confidence the lad had.
  17. Thing is those two lads have grown with the club and Wilder haven't they? Lenihan has been playing for Mowbray in that time, put him in Sheffield Utd's system now and he would look completely lost and wouldn't look good enough.
  18. Blame the Dack injury & FFP, and move onto next season like nothing happened.
  19. I'm not convinced this guy (Crooke) really has any idea to be honest.
  20. No way is Rhodes quick enough to play on the right wing.
  21. Well lets hope them clubs start firing them 8 figure bids in for John Buckley soon then eh.
  22. You have missed out the entire 09-10 season in that post! We lost all four away games, but the results at Ewood that season were as follows... Liverpool home - 0-0 Chelsea home - 1-1 Man Utd home - 0-0 Arsenal home - 2-1 Give the guy some credit, he had us really difficult to beat at Ewood.
