Thought Nuttall was poor when he came on in midweek. Didn’t do any where near enough to earn a start. Clearly highlights how weak the squad is and hopefully it’s a message to show that we need signings.

I’ve read the comments from the Sunderland fans and really thank them for their input. We’ve had fans who come on with the one liner arsey posts but these guys have all come on and been articulate and civil and actually wanted to get their point across. So thank you guys, it’s appreciated. Its hard to read such reasoned posts and not be filled with dread. I’ve gone from the ‘he needs a second chance’ ‘he was an England international’ ‘they don’t like him due to the wages’ camp to the ‘oh no, what have we done’ camp. Im a football fan so obviously I’m gong to be hoping that we can buck the trend and get a note out of him but the comments, and particularly the last posters comments obviously concern me massively. Lets hope and pray he’s not the dud they see him as.

Opposing fans are always welcome and it’s good to get a view from someone who’s actually seen him play. The fee worries me as I can’t see why he’s not getting on your bench if he’s worth £12m+. I can’t see us paying that for him. Wouldn’t be surprised if it’s a fair bit less but with a big weighting on add ons and sell on.

Spoke to him at player of the year awards straight after he’d won it and said it was the best club he’d been at and how he couldn’t wait to get started in training again. He came across as a complete arse and basically made it clear in a one to one conversation that he was off as soon as a bigger club came in for him. Always tainted my opinion of him. Steven Reid on the other hand came across as really humble and an absolute gent.

I know talk his cheap but his interview comments are good. He talks about our team spirit and that he wants to be part of that. Let’s give him the season and hopefully it works out well for all concerned. If it doesn’t it shouldn’t have cost us a fortune and if it does we’ll have a good player on our hands for the season and maybe beyond.

I actually think the Rodwell signing is the type of signing we should be looking at. Still young so different to the Murphy signing but a good pedigree but seems to have lost his way. If he wants to succeed and have a good career it’s his last chance really.

Did you or did you not say we wouldn’t sign anyone over 30 and did you not have a go at people who suggested players of that age. Don’t plat the victim card again Chaddy. You’re the biggest culprit on here.

It’s what we did with Mulgrew. He had played CB but saw himself as more of a CM when he came here.
