  1. Certainly was his approach to subs, just chuck the lot in; trainers, bedsheets, sofa cushions.
  2. Ha no, that was an actual true Mob story from ‘The Irishman’ film. Frank Sheehan was a hitman who would be hired with that code phrase - I.e paint with blood. The ‘Pine Barrens’ Sopranos episode was just a classic hour of comedy/drama as Chris and Paulie got the wrong end of the stick over a guy they were supposed to just collect some cash from and everything quickly goes wrong in the woods, just hilarious bit of TV.
  3. It also shows the decline of cricket as a state school sport, as the lads all called it ‘posh’, it maybe elsewhere, but with our strong club game in the north, it used to be anything but up here. Football winter, cricket summer was the mantra.
  4. And that’s all fine, but you aren’t getting them/keeping them in the building in the first place to sample said inspirational leadership when your peer organisations are paying double/triple what you are for the same job…
  5. That’s fair enough, but I’m talking about folk that were Rovers fans, and now wax lyrical about Stanley, go most weeks etc, haven’t been to Ewood since. About half a dozen on my Facebook fit that description.
  6. Good an approach as any, as that’s always worked for me when an east Lancs person says he ‘supports’ Liverpool or Man Utd.
  7. Ha literally what Miller said the Commerical and Marketing were more focused on than actual young people in the ground. Like some kind of W1A parody…
  8. I always find it interesting at Accy to think just how many of those in the ground are lapsed Blues, and how you now justify to yourself supporting someone else.
  9. Branthwaite could’ve worked, big lad, strong, but poor decision making, however it was only a mid season loan anyway as we plodded about in mid table, no harm done. However, Clarkson looked extremely lightweight and would never be cut out for the Championship in only those 9 months he’d be here. Surely scouting would’ve spotted this? But were those loanees in the TM era ever scouted to any real degree before coming in? Or just ‘we’ll he’s in a big club’s academy, he’ll do’.
  10. Which is exactly my point, some of them don’t ‘love football’ at all, it’s just a job. A lot of fans have the wrong impression that all footballers are as fanatical about the game, it’s history, it’s traditions etc as we are. Some are, of course, but a lot really aren’t that invested.
  11. Some will, as they’ll be generally more students of the game. But for a lot of others, he will literally just be the new fella taking training.
  12. I certainly agree with you on your last point, I’m all for blooding our own Academy grads over loaning in extremely raw players like Clarkson and Branthwaite who just hold back the development of our own lads.
  13. Chaddy castigating someone else for looking at life ‘simply’ 😁 JDT the footballer will mean bugger all to most of the players, largely because a lot of them are very young and won’t remember him, that’s life. He’ll impress them with his coaching, man management, presence and ability to get results, the fact he played for AC Milan getting on for 20 years ago won’t come into it one bit.
  14. So if someone says ‘I don’t want Player X because I don’t think he’s good enough for this club’ That’s ‘negative’, is it? And should be deleted? Surely having standards and wanting the very best players possible for your club is a highly positive mindset. Instead of accepting any old shite as that’s ‘positive’. This place is getting increasingly silly with all these ‘positive’ ‘negative’ posts, especially when half the folk doing it are highly hypocritical as they were relentlessly ‘negative’ towards the last manger.
  15. Who defines what ‘positive’ is? The mods? You? Though like previous years we could have a thread just for links.
  16. Well yes, if you had four first team central midfielders and all four got injured, a lot of clubs would be then looking to youth. But academy lads with not a minute of first team football as your only central midfielders outside Travis and Buckley? That isn’t a professional approach to highly competitive Championship football.
  17. No, but other Championship clubs will also offer plenty more (as we’ve seen already this summer).
  18. No, it took about a 1,000 years and ended in complete collapse, so sounds about right for this regime.
  19. Really? At what level? Even in L1 he was agricultural at best.
  20. That wasn’t his argument, he said we don’t need to look to bring in experienced midfielders as those two can step straight in as first choice if Travis and Buckley are injured. Two academy lads who have never played a minute of first team football in a division as relentless as this - just silly. Your second paragraph is obviously what will happen and that’s fair enough.
  21. Right, and they were thrown in together without ever playing a single minute and asked to run a first team, Championship level midfield between them? Or were they slowly blooded alongside experienced pros over a number of years?
  22. ‘Fine’? To have two academy lads who have never played a first team game an injury away from anchoring a Championship midfield? Lets hope GB and JDT are a little less flippant.
  23. Imagine a PL chasing side playing a non league club in the run in with a full strength team these days!
  24. Once again… so? The club has to does what it thinks is best for Blackburn Rovers. If that is selling a player, so be it, if it’s keeping him to maintain a push, fine. Upset fans should not come into it.
