  1. I can’t see any argument for him not being re-signed in late 2020, first half of 2021. But he wasn’t, so a £7million signing, a fortune for us, a star of the division, will leave for nowt, along with a load of other senior pros over the last 12 months. It is what it is, but it must now change (and hopefully it will with GB), as the club can’t carry on hiding behind ‘FFP’ with a straight face with half the team walking out the door for feck all.
  2. Thought he came here on relatively low wages, the famous ‘flex’? (The buzz word of brfcs before ‘ROI’ and ‘trading club’).
  3. Then they have a very strange understanding of the game. Or you should take daft posts on social media with a pinch of salt. Give you a good game, certainly. But plenty of people expected them to beat the runaway leaders, at their ground (where they are unbeaten all season) who have two defeats in 27 games? Come on Longers, the ‘little owd Burnley ‘ routine is wearing a bit thin now.
  4. He would in all likelihood have signed if it was on the table earlier - just like SG did last season. Once he became Diaz, Chile superstar and Championship top scorer, of course he was never going to sign. But that isn’t the issue.
  5. Yeah yeah. You were expected to get beat last night? By who? You are a country mile ahead of 3rd and below. You aren’t going to ‘expect’ to be beaten at home by any of them.
  6. We are at humble brag stage now, I see.
  7. No crystal ball needed, you get your assets re-signed up early, especially the ones that cost you multi millions of pounds. We were ‘perplexed’ by SG signing a new deal last season, ‘he wasn’t worth a wank’ and we wouldn’t have ‘given a shit’ if he’d have gone on loan and not come back instead. But the club rightly didn’t give a feck what us nobodies on brfcs thought and signed him up anyway, and quite right too. The fact they didn’t with BBD has come back to haunt us big time, and harsh lessons have been learnt (well let’s hope they have).
  8. ‘We want to be an established Premier Club’ - GB ’We finished the last game with an average age of 23… it needs to be around 27 for stability and the best results… but we don’t have the finance and things’. - JDT. Square that circle!
  9. Issue with cup ties is you often get a decent enough turn out of non-ST holders, but as arbito says, a load of ST holders don’t bother so its always a low overall home crowd as a result.
  10. I don’t think its ‘irritating’ at all. This is a Rovers forum and a key fall down of the club this past two years has been poor contract planning and the resulting loss of transfer fees as a result, a big issue for a club with well documented FFP issues, so it is well worth a discussion. On the flipside we now have a new broom, and I’ve already seen plenty of posts discussing how GB will rectify/is already rectifying this going forward (such posts certainly add more than ‘boring’, ‘negative’!)
  11. So how’s he not good enough for BRFC then?
  12. Nyambe ‘never good enough for Blackburn Rovers’, how ridiculous. But to be expected from said poster.
  13. If BBD was offered a new deal in early 2021 but he rejected it, fair enough. But I wager one wasn’t on the table, as per SG last season he would in all likelihood have signed up at the stage. Of course, I don’t know that for certain as I am a mere non-ITK fan. What’s done is done and let’s hope lessons have been learned from the last two years of half a team walking out the door for nowt, I sense they have and thank feck for that.
  14. It’s Mercer, still not sure if the fella behind the account isn’t doing it as a parody.
  15. Of course players run down contracts. Just not half the team when ‘FFP’ and ‘ROI’ is the club mantra.
  16. Yet most of the comments BTL from supposed lower league supporters disagree! Though it is the likes of Plymouth fans posting, a club with a real feel good factor and winning plenty.
  17. So what if wasn’t pulling up trees at the time? He was a £7million pound asset, a fortune for modern day BRFC, so you get him signed up, just like they correctly did with SG. Nowt we can do about it now, but it can’t ever be allowed to happen again. And I do have more faith that it won’t with GB in situ than the other plonkers we’ve had running the show. FYI -He was never booed (the dozen idiots at Birmingham aside) . He got fantastic support throughout and it annoys me that this ridiculous narrative has taken hold. Very patient fans here as he would certainly have got dogs abuse at most other clubs.
  18. He’ll be the only forward at the club soon enough so good job we did.
  19. BBD should have been offered a new deal two years ago - and he’d have jumped at it. ’But he was crap then and the fans would have moaned’. But guess what you do it anyway, as per SG last season. He had plenty of time on his existing deal too, but it’s called protecting your assets. You’re right we have talked it into the ground, but so has the club re ‘FFP’ and being skint. So let’s hope some hard lessons have been learned…
  20. Being average players doesn’t mean it was a ‘threadbare’ defence. Implications of that phrase is we had hardly defenders to choose from. They are the defenders we have, mediocre players or otherwise.
  21. Steele is a ‘home grown’ quota player. It’s why most PL clubs have English back up keepers. If he was foreign he’d be nowhere near a top flight squad.
  22. Evidently he doesn’t need to show it or he wouldn’t still be getting management jobs in the modern game…
  23. *Three, Bradley Dack. Sorry, my mistake, he’s his first name on the team sheet again.
