You need to work on your sarcasm monitor, Len.

Yeah forget about CVs and all that, as long as you are a ‘club legend’ everything will work out fine.

Reading the BBC article on it, it was Ancelotti Jr’s job until Martin ‘knocked it out of the park’ on interview. So, there will be plenty of mug owners yet that fall for his gift of the gab…

v Stoke City (h) - 4/10/25, k/o 12:30pmMattyblue replied to Herbie6590's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard So what is your actual point? Everybody knows that these players came in via transfer fees, might have been £10millions worth, we all know that, so what? That proves something or other re the owners? So how does it when the club brought in more than that it sales? They outlayed ZERO, indeed made a profit.

Who said he was ‘world class’ at 18/19? Very rare anybody is at that age, especially when in a middling second division side. Obviously it was all about potential. Jason Lowe captained the U20s and had three times as many caps at U21 level than Wharton. Those England coaches/selectors aren’t particularly the arbiter of anything.
-
No, I just like to mention such a silly metric that obviously means bugger all.

	Even without under 21 caps?

v Swansea City (h) - 30/9/25, k/o 19:45Mattyblue replied to Herbie6590's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard What happened here in the summer of 2012 is not the usual ‘crowds go up and down on success or lack of’. Indeed most clubs that get relegated out the PL don’t actually see much drop off at all. Here? We lost nearly half our ST holders overnight? Why? Because of the insane decision to keep on Steve Kean on the back of 18 months of disgraceful antics from the owners and their ‘representatives’. We’ve never recovered since, not even close, though in reality gates have stayed fairly steady at this new low ‘normal’ (the only anomalies being the Coyle appointment summer - another insane decision they shaved off a couple of thousand more ST holders and the Covid return year where they banged up prices in comparison to most other clubs that reduced them to promote getting back to grounds). Only possible chance to get numbers back is Premier League, or a Bolton style renewal under new ownership and slashed prices - we’ll get neither so let’s plod on to cut number 558.

150th Anniversary kit/celebrationsMattyblue replied to Proudtobeblue&white's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard Come on now, Blackburn Olympic beat then though, so close enough, especially as half of the ChatGPT generated PR about the 150th has been about the borough of Blackburn anyway.

Valérien Ismaël: Blackburn Rovers Head CoachMattyblue replied to DE.'s topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard All true, JH, yet no clearer to an answer to ‘why’ they want a manager to keep costs down and for the club to just tick over. Obviously a burden (even if a small one in the grand scheme of their empire with their point man given carte blanche), obviously no sporting interest in the club achieving anything, so the next step is obvious, so WHY aren’t they doing it?’

150th Anniversary kit/celebrationsMattyblue replied to Proudtobeblue&white's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard Post game even after a win would see very few hanging round, get beat and it will be a very bleak ‘event’ (which is fitting, I suppose). Not sure why there’s a need for a game at all. A pre-season friendly to mark it, fine. But a game of 50 odd year olds against some amateurs in an empty ground in November, err ok.

v Stoke City (h) - 4/10/25, k/o 12:30pmMattyblue replied to Herbie6590's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard Indeed JBN, in reality he is saying what he wants to happen, not what will actually happen. If he enjoys ‘predicting’ 46 wins out of 46, good luck to him, it obviously isn’t based on anything in particularly, so leave him to it.

I’d certainly like to see that post

v Swansea City (h) - 30/9/25, k/o 19:45Mattyblue replied to Herbie6590's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard With Swansea fetching about 300 I doubt there will even be 7,000 actually in the ground.
