This is a club that makes mascots bring their own kit, so no surprises there.

Using the Euros as an example it had 8 teams in it until ‘96, then 16 until 2016. Now it has 24 teams (24 from just one continent) with some third place teams reaching the knock outs. Obviously you can only beat what’s put in front of you and generally I think GS has done a pretty good job, no doubt he’s transformed a piss poor culture around the England team. But that KO stat is a bit disingenuous, as merely qualifying, then getting out of the group and then ultimately winning KO games in earlier decades was much tougher.

If you were born in the early 80s, an odd season aside Rovers teams had been anything but ‘shit’ until this lot turned up (and it certainly wasn’t a shit club until 2010)

I went on all four trips, Salzburg, Feyernoord, Krakow and Leverkusen. Just fantastic memories, especially when we were no longer a club with particularly large resources by 06/07, just a superbly run football club, I rue the day the Walkers sold us down the river.

May be wrong but it feels to me that the English playing pool is getting bigger again and we are seeing players coming through with improved techniques than in previous decades, but the manager pool looks very weak.

Sure O2G said it’s been moved. End of the day that forum will never take the club to task, not particularly a criticism but it was a group set up in the good old days by John Williams to discuss pies and the range of branded glassware in the club shop and the like as he serenely ran the club, it was never meant to drag execs over the coals. Whereas the twice yearly supporters consultation meetings (quietly dropped during Covid) and it’s ‘critical friend’ very much should be doing as we fall into an existential crisis … as should the local media.

Yep, some folk still seem to struggle to understand that a football club isn’t just the individuals that happen to own it/work for it at the present time. It’s that famous Bobby Robson quote. We, the fans are the only constants and we have a right to demand better and to call out these completely inappropriate people that have somehow got hold of/earn actual money by running (into the ground) Blackburn Rovers.

Exactly, clubs that are hell bent on promotion strengthen for the run in, indeed we did in 1992 and 2001, obviously no chance of that with Venky Rovers (of course we should’ve signed x, y and z - guess what? We didn’t) and we of course fell away.
