For now, presumably by next season it will all be online - ‘Digital Strategy’ and all that. -

Not sure anyone’s missing the point. We all agree it’s a ridiculous set of affairs for both home games when we have a half empty ground every week, plus refusing to sell an away ticket to someone in the shop or on the phone when the pile of tickets is sitting on the counter. -

It is a football cliche, but there is a kernel of truth in it. If a side goes to 10 men and then parks the bus for half an hour when before they were attempting to win the game, it can be difficult to break them down as their whole mentality has changed. -
Love your predictions, Mark. The yin to the Chadster’s yang. 😅

You can just about understand the rationale for home tickets as they are in the club’s gift, I.e to print out etc (though obviously they still should). But being barred from walking into the shop to buy an away ticket that is literally sitting there printed on the counter, but now you have to wait a week for the staff to put in envelopes and post it to you sums up the nonsense down there. -
You substantially reduce adult prices or you get promoted. That is the *only* way to see a significant increase in gates here. Simple as that. But as neither of those will happen, we won’t see a significant increase. Twenty quid off a ticket was never going to lead to said significant rise, why on earth would it, especially after a season as bad as that? But it did prevent the big drop off that was surely coming if they’d have actually increased them, so a success of sorts. The worrying thing is Swag et al seemingly did expect a surge on the back of a twenty quid cut, after a season of farce. They just don’t understand their own fanbase, which is just a tad worrying.

The tone in those minutes is far stronger than I ever remember. ‘hugely disappointing’ etc. I don’t recall that when they sold a hugely disappointing 6,995 STs in 2021/22. Along with sob stories about the leccy bill and player wages, *shock horror*, rising with inflation, they are obviously rolling the pitch for a substantial rise next season - and the lemmings will lap it up, ‘well nobody bought one when we had that enormous price cut last summer, so fair play to the club, I reckon’.
-
Yep, not a chance we’ll ever see a proper reduction on adult tickets now, in fact, expect a hike. We called it on here as soon as they went on sale ‘at least the kids price reduction has stopped a big fall in numbers’. It was obvious after that shambles of a season on and off the pitch (1 home win in months to boot) what would happen to adult sales with just 20 quid knocked off… well it was seemingly not obvious to the supposed commercial and marketing professionals down there.

I will. But say folk have bought on general sale, but their mates got them pre, said folk will make a beeline for where they’re mates are. As everybody now stands it’s just the way it is. -

‘Down to the clubs to manage it better’. Easy this football lark, ain’t it. -

‘More money for clubs’ = ‘more money for players and agents’ And as for ‘more exposure’ this deal hasn’t done that anyway. The majority of the extra games in this deal all KO at the same time - 12.30 on a Saturday. So not sure how much extra exposure the fifth game kicking off at that time gets over if there was just one. The fans are the losers in this deal, as always. -

Exactly. None of this is Sky’s fault, just greedy clubs. -

Presumably it’s Sky’s choice to ridiculously show 6 games simultaneously at Saturday 12:30, but just one on a Sunday. Though saying that in the top flight isn’t it the PL themselves that set the PL broadcast slots that are then sold to the highest bidder. So it wouldn’t surprise you if that pathetic organisation called ‘the EFL’ have had a part in it. -

Why does everyone knowing for ages that it’s a Sunday 12pm KO make a Sunday 12pm KO any less shit? -

Surely not, no Rovers fans existed west of Pleasy before the 90s, you know… then Plastics everywhere. -
Going to League 1 was by far the biggest factor of the dumbing down. Before it most of the fanbase still had expectations that Blackburn Rovers should do more than plod about. After it plenty got spooked and it was all ‘let’s be grateful to the owners that we even exist. I mean, look at Bury’.
-
‘Who cares’, ‘not too fussed’. Yeah it’s only £100 a ticket after all.

Fulham at 8pm on a Saturday night.

Was it sweating in their kit past 10pm that did for them? -
UEFA had one chance to bury the European Super League (a league they, on the surface, got very upset about) when the founder clubs of the breakaway competition completely embarrassed themselves - not only didn’t they take their chance, they actually capitulated to the very same clubs who got their way regardless.
-
So I take it we ever did make it to the PL. Games against the likes of Liverpool, Man Utd, City and anybody else that fills the Darwen End will be kicking off early? How on earth did the plod cope previously?
