  1. Football goes in cycles SG, this club will rise again, we need to plod along until these inept owners get bored and sod off back under the rock. Hang in there, our time will come.
  2. It’s not like we haven’t been in this situation before, we were under embargo when Lambert joined, the buck stops with these inept owners, they hold the ferking purse strings.
  3. I hear you ojf, but…. I would refer you back to Azeems statement, which is far more relevant than 2 white middle aged duffers talking about the rights and wrongs of this case.
  4. Azeem Rafiq said he was hurt by Joe Roots statement, thats enough for me. I found [his statement] hurtful, because Rooty was not only Gary's housemate but, before he started playing for England, he was involved in a lot of those socialising nights out where I'd been called a P**i. In my opinion its naïve to believe Root never heard any of this, he's close mates with both Ballance and Hales and was in the Yorkshire dressing room for years where Moxon, Hoggard, Bresnan and the rest of them were using this language. Just my opinion of course.
  5. You do wonder why said posters are adopting such an approach, when we are led to believe Waggott was telling anyone and everyone, in the Premier Suite after the game, that Mowbray was for the chop if he hadn't just beaten Sheff Utd.
  6. I think the vast majority of fans are realistic, they're more than aware of the neglect and dumbing down thats been going on since 2011, its all around them on match days, in the empty pubs and across the large swathes of empty seating week in week out. We have the smallest inexperienced squad I can ever remember, we have more debt hovering over the club that we've ever had and the training ground has just been removed from the balance sheet, its hardly a model built for success. The majority of fans are happy plodding along, I'm one of them, can you change my mind and point to anything that would give me cause for optimism? A way in which we can challenge the likes of West Brom who had around £20m worth of players sat on the bench earlier this season at Ewood?
  7. Joe Root issued a statement a few weeks ago saying he'd never heard anything racist, this despite sharing a house with Ballance and being in the dressing room throughout this time, smells of more Yorkshire CCC trying to cover up to me. Azeem said yesterday he was hurt by those comments from Root, not only was he in the dressing room, he was present at the numerous social occasions where this kind of language was normalised. In my opinion he doesn't come out of this well at all.
  8. Have you or have you not supported the owners since the day they took over? You've told me several times "They'll come good Gav, you'll see" and here we are 10yrs later and the clubs never been in a more dire state, how long will it take for you to wake up to the reality? I don't believe the owners have changed, they're not capable and they don't take advice from locals, that horse has been ridden many many times and always ends the same way. I'm not criticizing people for trying, but I am criticizing you for trying to paint a rosy picture for the future under these owners and blaming everyone but Venkys themselves, wake up Rev.
  9. You said that to me in 2012, then again in 2015, it’s embarrassing to be frank. These new constructive talks and nobody knew about the training ground being moved off the balance sheet? Posters on this board are not stupid, but you’re treating them as such…
  10. Plenty of high profile players and ex-players not coming out of this racism scandal well. Bumble, Hoggard, Bresnan, Hales and Root all named today in the Azeem Rafiq hearing. Listening to Azeems account was heartbreaking, the abuse this lad suffered. I thought this was a thing of the past, shocking and this won’t end here.
  11. I disagree, Derby County can start to repair the damage done to the football club and that road starts right now. I believe we will suffer the same fate at some point in the not to distant future, but until that day comes we can't start that recovery and we sleepwalk into more debt, into more damage to the brand, until we are cast aside for the next shiny object on Balaji's bucket list. Venkys Out.
  12. Memory not what it used to be clearly...... I remember a group United fans at the Darwen End of the Riverside, lots of trouble before and after the game, a few stabbings I seem to remember.
  13. Great footage from 1995.
  14. Yes, Ray Houghton too.
  15. Oxford had a good side back then ojf, think they went up eventually.
  16. Some very poor footage of the FA Cup 4th Round tie at Oxford 1985 - We drew United in the next round above.
  17. If memory serves me right, YTS (Youth training schemes) paid about £27 a week at the time, apprenticeships a bit more. People say football was more affordable back then, I'm not convinced, especially for the younger supports, many who didn't have jobs. Still 23,000 on that night, I can still see Branagan standing on the ball and Strachan curling it into the top corner......Gutted!
  18. Some other bits I’ve come across, spanning the decades: Who is this? I’ve just worked it out:
  19. Hell of a finish, dusty Miller with the cross and a floundering Bob Boulder nowhere near it. Great day indeed.
  20. Just on the same theme as DeeCee This was without doubt the best day I have ever had supporting Rovers and my first visit to Wembley. We had nothing, we expected nothing. 28k Rovers fans travelled to see us as beat 1st Division Charlton and lift The Full Members Cup - getting goose bumps now. Some pictures from the day here, some members of this site looking a lot younger too: https://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/14240451.pictures-30-retro-blackburn-rovers-fan-photos-will-fill-pride/
  21. https://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/news/19709994.chile-fans-trip-blackburn-rovers-inspired-netflix-show/ Didn't know where to post this, great story and well done to the club for making the effort.
  22. Quite right, I was rushing......apologies.
  23. This may seem rather left field, especially with the budgets having been cut to the bone down at Ewood, but you do wonder how long it will be before a club offers free admission to season ticket holders for the entire season, or maybe the entire season for £10 a game to help that promotion push. In the 12 months to June 2020 we lost £21m, up from £17m the season before, so much for getting wages under control........How much is season ticket income? 8000 x £40 = £320k (Nothing really in the grand scheme of things) I understand the question around devaluing the product, if you've paid nothing to watch the team, you'll be loathed to pay anything in future, but many areas of business are going down the giveaway route, software in particular, will football ever follow suit? I doubt it.....
  24. Good to see Rovers shirts on the longside tonight watching England, pity the locals can’t be arsed turning out, embarrassing.
  25. When did they make single Opel fruits (Starbursts) so small and difficult from a middle aged bloke, with fat fingers, to get into? Why do sarsaparilla tablets not taste the same as they used to, or pear drops for that matter. Don't get me started of the size of a Curley Wurley or Mars Bar. Anyone know where the nearest Slimmers World is?
