  1. I wonder if we looking Heinz Lindner, a keeper who experience of Austria Bundesliga and German Bundesliga 2. 30 years old and out of contract. Plus 28 caps for Austria https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/heinz-lindner/profil/spieler/59082 here any some of his saves and goalkeeper moments https://www.bing.com/videos/search?q=heinz+lindner&&view=detail&mid=4F2F18EC62D583D1D8B14F2F18EC62D583D1D8B1&&FORM=VRDGAR&ru=%2Fvideos%2Fsearch%3Fq%3Dheinz%2Blindner%26FORM%3DHDRSC3
  2. The players are used to Plan A apart from the new signings. I like 4-2-2-2 cos we have number 10's at the club. Agree on the false 9 thing.
  3. Yes I do think Carter played well against Reading. other fans said so on social media and on this site. Plus Sharpe and Crooke who the 2 local journalists who cover Rovers for the jobs. I think he will be at Premier League club next season on loan IMO
  4. linked with Sunderland in this morning press
  5. Yes, I want my wide players to not just to stick to touchline but roam inside and allow the full backs to overlap. I don't want them to be rigid but play with freedom like if Holtby or Rothwell start on the right or left to roam inside and link up with Dack or Armstrong more. Yes we play a natural some games like Chapman or a new signing of winger if Chapman moves. So I am happy to adapt the way we play 3 behind in certain games situations or opposition tactics Gallagher shouldn't be used in wide striker role. Yes you do need a plan B like WBA or Brentford have used this season. I have seen Brentford switch from 3-4-3 formation which they used earlier in the season into 4-3-3 formation now. WBA have switch from 4-3-3 system to 4-2-3-1. So IMO, plan B is important.
  6. I would expect Tosin to be either on City bench or on loan at Premier League team. On the Liverpool under 23's I would be surprise if we moved for Nathaniel Philips from Liverpool who has been on loan in Bundesliga 2 to Stuttgart. He played 19 times for them. Just like Bauer has helped Preston finish mid table. One thing you failed to mention that Raya wanted out of Rovers as he thought it was time to move on. A point is regular miss here. Raya's comments " “I think it was the right time for me to move on to a new challenge in my career and my life and it was the decision I made." https://www.thisislancashire.co.uk/sport/18059649.david-raya-interview-opens-reasons-rovers-exit/ That's 3 mistakes/errors I've seen make this season. I'm surely they have been others. Might not cost goals but still mistakes. I don't watch Brentford every game do I.
  7. I like Mercer but his expectations are too high of our youth players. Carter was more than ok. Played very well. That own goal was affordable if Walton had communicate to leave it like Friedel would have done. Raya has made number of mistakes like last week one which you admitted you didn't see. He push it right out to their forward. Poor keeping. He made very poor error against Hull. Plus his mistake he made against us by fouling Buckley. For me he hasn't improve enough but the main factor is Brentford captain Jansson being in charge of the defence. Haven't we all said Walton has been to error prone and since post lockdown he has been pathetic to be honest. So we can all agree Walton isn't good enough to be number 1 here. I wanted Raya out last summer and I going to open and honest on that as his mistakes in 18/19 season were too much. Still remember his mistake against Birmingham at home in that season. it was horrendous. What we didn't need was Walton but since he missed on his 2 top targets and Darlow was too expensive we got Walton. No I wouldn't with Bauer as Tosin is a better all round defender.
  8. We need an experience keeper in who knows his game. I agree @Sparks Rover with your view on Raya's game
  9. Thanks @JoeH for such an in depth analysis and way forward next season tactically. I agree with @roversfan99 that we should start with 4-2-3-1 being our main formation even tho we disagree how we should play the 3 behind the striker should play. I also feel that Nymabe isn't good enough going forward for us, so I would be looking for attacking right back to challenge Nyambe for that position. I also feel we need a plan B would I used 4-2-2-2 or 4-3-3 formation. But it is crucial for me that we bring in an quality keeper, centre back and left back. I would play Armstrong as the number 9 next season. He is quality forward and scores goals for fun. Plus use his pace, movement and flair in that role.
  10. I wasn't saying you want them to be Phil Jones standard but some people do. Why haven't mention Carter's performance vs Reading was he was very good. Yes he made mistakes but if we had a better number 1 behind him and left back, he wouldn't have made as many. The own goal he scored wouldn't have happened if we had Brad Friedel in goal. Walton's communication is woeful. We need experience keeper who can command the area and good communication skills aswell Shot stopper skills. On Bauer, he is mid table Championship centre defender. I would say Tosin is better all round game than Bauer who is old fashioned style defender Hope Both are gone. I would like Wharton to be given his chance here. Judging by his comments online in the Lancashire Telegraph he wants to break into the first team here, Raya still made the same mistakes he had done during his time here. I think @Sparks Rover's comments on Raya all round game today is spot on. WE have been over and over the situation is that we have 2 keepers lined up and both fell through at the last hurdle sadly. I don't have names. We tried for Darlow last summer but his wages were outside our budget and couldn't afford him. We got a solid and reliable partner in Adarabioyo next to Lenihan.
  11. Not yet. Agree a fee with QPR. I believe Other Championship teams are after him. Wigan need money. End of
  12. For me, Dack has to adapt to playing with Armstrong. We aren't going to playing long balls into a target man now according to Mowbray, we are look to more possession base team. Putting Armstrong wide shouldn't be happening. On Moore? not sure we should be looking at him. We need 1st choice keeper, centre back and left back. Plus 2nd choice keeper and centre back.
  13. Armstrong is the one player I would want to Keep. He is the best striker at the club and his best seasons in terms of goals have come under Mowbray, so If I was Mowbray I would be given Armstrong a new long term contract as a major priority. Some crazy figure being branding about for average players
  14. All we don't know what his budget is don't mean Mowbray has been told it by now. Mowbray quotes from his post Luton game interview where he said he hasn't had full clarity on it. So discussions have taken place with the owners on the budget. If we have to sell one player to reuse the money to improve the squad.
  15. You wouldn't want to sell Travis at all, but think most of us knew we would have to sell one of our 4 best players(Armstrong, Dack, Travis, Lenihan) this summer. Wonder if we already have an offer in from PL club for Travis? Travis is in Spain on holiday according to his Instagram. Is Whiteman a similar type of player to Travis? I would be looking at Josh Cullen from West Ham who was on loan at Charlton to replace Travis if he goes.
  16. Getting that wage bill paid on time looks a problem. Seems like Wigan's budget needs massive slash. Can see Cook walking out shortly..
  17. It's a fair point why there is interest in him. Don't know if he a similar player to Travis.. I agree the priority should be 2 keepers with 1st choice centre back and a first choice left back.
  18. I am bias in my opinion after watching them from under 18's into under 23's then first team, so I far less critical of their performance as I am not expecting them to be Phil Jones or David Dunn quality. I will admit that to you.
  19. If we couldnt afford his wage demands last summer why can we now?
  20. Anderson just showing his pure class with the wickets. Been good bowling so far
  21. Awful names on that list. Steele.. Murphy would be good option from that list but doubt we could afford his wages.
  22. Yes I agree we need 4 centre backs. I feel that we need an quality centre back in 1st next to Lenihan for the 1st team partnership before we start looking at back centre backs. Would you agree?
  23. Lenihan played 37 games last season missing 6 games due to injury, 2 games due to suspension and 1 game due to his wife giving birth to his 1st child. So hardly alot of games is it? Mowbray didn't need to answer the question. if Travis is sold? hinting at there Mercer? I think Davenport has been decent enough for the under 23's when I've watched. Not on the level of Travis who stood out in the games I've watched in the under 23's games in 17/18 season. Why he got his chance in first team before his sending off at Portsmouth.
  24. NO that was his direct quote that "he hasn't had full clarity on it" that he told the LT. So not reading between the lines at all but clearly conservations have happened between the owners and Mowbray on the budget. If Mowbray had no budget but lining players up he would look stupid lining players up to signings. I doubt anyone is getting excited at all cos of couple of players been mention on here
