  1. Are Netflix making a documentary about Leicester’s U23s?? Three cameras, scaffolding taking up half the stand (about 40 seats) and a travelling studio. I think I can see Bielsa on the Astro pitch next door peering through the fence! How the other half live!
  2. Sounds like spin to me. Their fans are gutted to have lost Vokes and replaced him with Crouch.
  3. Careful, “virtually” could become the new “flex”!
  4. Nothing wrong with Benno. He’s just not a full back.
  5. Lol. I keep forgetting you’re not a Rovers fan!
  6. This is a fallacy. He has only “eradicated it” for as long as he is the face of the club. Every time anyone questions his ability or whether he is the right man for the task, the retort/fear is still that we could end up with a worse choice. This means that the real issues (Venkys decision making and their delegates) remain at the back of our minds, just out of sight. There are shoots there that we are on a rebuild but despite having money we have players ‘doing a job’ all over the park, and Tony frequently says one thing and does another. We need a bit of consistency from him yet it still feels like he doesn’t know his best team or subs and unless injuries occur, he seemingly has to rotate the midfield. His recruitment is awful and this needs to be sorted out before the Summer if we are going to build anything. Still so many question marks, particularly at the back: goalkeeper, full backs, cb cover, but also still an over-reliance on Graham staying fit.
  7. There seems to be a lot of people who can’t see this your way. You might want to reflect on that.
  8. If Brereton is on a pittance (relatively speaking) after signing for “up to” £7m then he needs to sack his agent.
  9. As long as teams like Burnley, Huddersfield and Brighton can get to the PL we should continue with that as our aim.
  10. Sorry, that’s not good enough, Matty. The dilemma now is getting where we need to be with Mowbray still in charge. He has become a symbol for being an honest football bloke and people are rooting for him. Including me if people can believe that. But, if we are really to believe that we have a new, improved Senior Management Team headed up by the ultra-professional Steve Waggott then we have to believe he would get in a better manager - if/when the time comes - than Coyle. If he can’t and we still fear a duff managerial appointment then this board is just another charade: the constant in the Venky’s conundrum.
  11. What will be different this time next year? We could be in a relegation battle. Will we make the necessary signings in the Summer? We have one loan signing that has made an impact this year, other than that it has been Mowbray’s league one team. We had money to spend in the Summer and in January and we haven’t made good choices in either.
  12. @Biz it’s not about seeing the Championship as a stepping stone back to the PL but when you have opportunities to press on you have to take them. If we can’t bring in players when we are so close to the play-offs in a tight season then when can we. And if you don’t take those opportunities and instead rest on your laurels (so called stability) then you fall backwards - as we found out under Bowyer.
  13. But we still had money to spend in January. Let’s assume your ‘flex’ is a real thing. We could have used the cash in January to pay for the wage difference, and had a player able to contribute this season. We also brought in Chapman who also won’t contribute. The time and care being taken by Mowbray to produce this promotion-chasing team is going to be under huge pressure to deliver. Or it will all just evaporate when Venkys get fed up of waiting.
  14. Is that like the Rola Cola version of Maupay? (Sorry)
  15. Not sure I agree given the timing. There were 35-40 minutes left and we are awful at holding on to leads. A like for like switch with Rothwell on for Dack. I think moving players to ‘help out’ a player struggling. Assuming he wasn’t injured, where was Nyambe? If he was the Bennett could have gone to RM and Reed to RB. Or even take Bennett off. Mowbray seems to be a tubthumper who can rouse the boys for a fight but doesn’t have the nouse to make changes when we are losing ground. He has previous for his. A game is changing and we are losing the battle - even if we are still in the lead and he delays until it’s too late. Then makes the wrong decisions. Losing so badly is still hard to stomach.
  16. For £7m we could have bought a finished article. The fact that the player we did spend it on isn’t even living up to your stated expectations is all the more depressing.
  17. Is that an old photo? The lights have changed to amber at this point.
  18. Sometimes one word says more than many. 47er was spot on, hence, ‘bingo’. Not just you, Joe, and you certainly aren’t the worst for it, but some people would absolutely defend two different duds (Murphy, Etuhu, or others) who the manager was picking.
  19. There is no demand from the fans for the club to try anything different to attract fans back. Every idea is poo-poohed, excuses made and the proper-fans-don’t-need-deals mentality sets in. So it has become a moot point. We simply sit and wait for Mowbray to decide when it’s time to spend some of the cash supposedly burning a hole in his tracksuit, potentially change the wage structure and get promoted, while Burnley get relegated and we pick up the 8,000 floaters that they have picked up. Or, as you imply, we could look at putting on a few choice match day offers and lowering season ticket prices. Or we could just get used to having 10-12k home fans and start looking at more stand/area closures.
  20. This is what happens when you don’t do January right. Almost like tempting fate. From play-off contenders to lower midtable could suddenly be a reality. Whatever excuses people make, yesterday’s result should not have happened. Brentford were in 18th, 9 points behind us and are now 17th, 6 points behind (with a game in hand). It wasn’t down to Brentford’s brilliance. They were a cynical team who injured several of our key players while the ref awarded them soft free kicks. But ultimately it was down to the players that Mowbray brought on and those he didn’t. As much as I like him, Bennett got a tugging yesterday but couldn’t be replaced. Having Nuttall and Brereton on the bench with only one defender - who didn’t get on. Dack went off and Rothwell was over-looked (even before then ex-loanee Palmer was favoured). He has played a full 90 minutes four times this season, three times out on the left (W0 D2 L1 - Sheffield Utd) and only once as number 10 (W1 D0 L0 - against Brentford!!). We continue to rely on Graham after four Mowbray windows. Conway has had one good game this season and has seemingly earned Mowbray’s trust. Great first XI, no plan b. Wasn’t that what fans at his other clubs used to say?
  21. Wigan and Rotherham should not be teams we are considering our peers. Keep on thinking small.
