[Archived] Should Dunny Have Come Home?
Al replied to blinddevotion's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
I am excited about today. The prospect of seeing Dunny, Gamst and McCarthy exchanging passes puts me in mind of the Dunny, Duff and Jansen days. Please don't let me down lads. It's been a long time coming. -
I think Spencey just likes confrontation and a good argument. I think that black is black and white is white. What do you think Spencey?

Is the match on TV? I'd like to see them in action especially if they are both on the pitch at the same time. -

What a load of whingers. I fondly remember long days on my patio last summer, sipping beer and G & Ts. Roll on more of the same this year. I'll be fully retired by the end of the month and will be able to do it even more. Winter is pants. We should hibernate. -

That Bolton board was a great read. It really has got up their woolyback noses hasn't it? We need to get a few well worded banners for the next match against them. -
Without factual back up assumption are just that. They may be reasonable but so would other numbers be reasonable. All forecasts are someone's opinion. I too am an accountant and when the MD asks me 'What is two times two' I ask him what figure he has in mind before I give him an answer.
-
Philipl's calculations not only show differences in attendance but a massive difference between £13 per person and £33 per person in revenue. Where do you get those numbers from? You can prove anything by changing the assumptions. That's why Excel is such a useful tool. I'm not disputing your assumptions because I,like you, have no real idea what the correct figures are. I am sure however that all other teams have concession prices as well as us. I also think that £13 sounds low for Rovers.
-
Our total gate money for a Premiership season is about £5,850,000 (£13*25,000*18matches) and this includes season tickets. It pales into insignificance to the £37mil TV money and reducing the price would not reduce this figure significantly in view of extra bums on seats. It can therefore be done for a while to try to attract extra support.

Maybe it's time for Dunny to do a Barry Furguson and say 'I won't play again until I play for Blackburn'. It may focus Bruce's mind. -
Very nice to hear from a friend of Bill's. He is one of my all time heroes. Even after his retirement I always bought sweets from his shop on matchdays just to see the guy.

We can just about cope until the end of the season. Lets get him back then for free and make Bruce look like the pillock that he is. -
Henning was almost exclusively a right back during his first stint at Rovers, although he played at centre for his country. He was brilliant in either position.
-
He'll do for me pal. We have never prospered playing centre halves at full back and Bretts tackling yesterday looked good enough to me.

The new girlfriend is his ex wife's best friend and she has been helping Darren and his family in their time of mourning and indeed has been mourning herself. Darren has not said that he is 'in love' but that they have become close since his wife's death and he is waiting to see how the relationship develops. Let's not judge the guy. Communal grief often makes people begin to rely heavily on each other. -
It would be harder to answer why would I not go. I've supported them for over 50 years. Maybe it's habit. Maybe it's loyalty but I couldn't envisage life without the Rovers. Maybe I'm a glutton for punishment but I just have to do it.

You are a girl after my own heart Jan. Come and live at my house any time. Or better still invite me to your box. I'll bring the sweets and popcorn.

Standing 3rd pillar along on the Riverside fills me with nostalgia but I have to admit that the new all seater stadium is far superior. -
Well that's just crowned a bloody awful day. Thanks Rovers for cheering a man up when he's down. I'm off to bed and probably won't sleep. Had the nightmare already.

I once employed a mother and daughter in the same office. Never again! Kick one and they both limped!

Same for me (1960 Cup Final). Broke my heart that day. I still hate that man Deeley, not to mention Derek Doogan who claimed to be fit and patently was not. The barsteward also posted his transfer request before the match. -
Morton said he had beer thrown in his face. How could this happen as UEFA do not allow alcohol to be sold in the stadium when a UEFA cup match is being played?
-
A pretty fair summary IHB except that I feel that Oojier improves every game, you have ignored Zurab and in my opinion McCarthy is a bit better than average. We can though improve in both the positions you refer to. However I do believe that left back and central midfield remain our priorities if we assume that Neill and Todd will be off in January. I do also believe that any player in any position who can improve the team at a reasonable price should be brought in, it's common sense to me. That's why I am in favour of bringing in Gomaa if he is better than we already have. I've never seen him play so I cannot comment further.

I do not understand why people want to allow this person back. His email, although well written, contained all the same drivel that he was banned for. So what has changed? Having said that I agree with wakefieldrawks that his stuff is preferable to Rover the Moon's.
