  1. The last time the old Ewood was packed to the rafters was v City 1969(?) It was absolutely frightening standing on the Riverside. You saw the sway coming before it hit you and you had to cling to any rail for dear life. Can't believe how we used to get many more than that on. Crowds more well-behaved possibly.
  2. The decision to disband the team was shameful, lack of communication is bad but secondary. If they'd communicated it well it would still have been a shameful decision.
  3. Club went downhill with all of them. Singh tried to make things better but had no clue and should never have had the job. This is the problem---Venkys simply appoint people they trust regardless of any experience or ability.
  4. https://eflanalysis.com/news/how-steve-waggott-and-venkys-responded-to-blackburn-rovers-investment-offer-before-ceos-exit/
  5. Interview with him in the Guardian this morning. He's in his 60's now and about to start a new Karate Kid film!
  6. There's definately a link between the 2 happenings. Anger over Women's team so throw the fans a distraction bone.
  7. Wow! You couldn't get better publicity for the cause than that! Its a pity the site doesn't have a bigger circulation. Well done.
  8. Well known he wanted another year so he's actually got the boot. Be nice to think for someone better but we won't get fooled again.
  9. Surely they'll shut the whole thing down anyway---intentionally or otherwise? if they stay that is. I can't begin to imagine what the Club will look like after anther 15 seasons of their tender care. We'll be in Div 2 by then or out of the League altogether.
  10. Read comments on the LT chat site yesterday. There were about 10 comments on this development and all of them approved it as a sensible decision! Losing money, low crowds etc.
  11. Thinking again of that game Waggy, we had no tickets we simply turned up on the day, paid in cash and sat in whatever stand suited us, surrounded by Everton supporters who never bothered us (possibly because we were outclassed!) Those were the days!
  12. Went to that one, can't remember what stand. I thought there was such a gap in class then I could never imagine us coming back there 20 years later and winning! We did think we'd scored first but it was rightly disallowed for a push as I recall.
  13. They never bought Rovers as a stand alone business set apart from their main industry---chickens! That leads me to believe that it was always a means of writing off losses and not costing Venkys much in real terms. The problem is that their incompetence has created losses far bigger than expected.
  14. One sure outcome--the fans will get the blame for Rovers inability to pay decent wages of transer fees.
  15. So is the Women's team defunct ( I use the word advisedly) or not?
  16. Same here but I fear it's because I still can't let go! 😭
  17. I wonder if he thought it was his responsibility to help save the Club?
  18. The Guardian had a great description of his laid-back style a week or 2 back. Their reporter described him as "playing like he had both hands in his pockets." Perfect!
  19. I was at that game! Fantastic win. Very Sparton surroundings for us visitors though!
  20. So we had to sell Wharton there and then for whatever we could get because the owners don't fund us? Had we waited till summer we'd have got way more for him and Venkys would have got more than their money back. But its not the way things are done at Rovers. Incidentally Palace have survived 2 periods in administration so I don't see why we wouldn't come back stronger as well. Worth it to get rid of the tyranny of Venky ownership.
