I've just looked it up as a result of what you wrote and we didn't play them 1949 at all. We did 47-8 and we did 49-50 so I'm assuming out must have been one of them. My Dad spoke of it a few times, I never queried it. He must have got the date wrong. That's a bugger, I was brought up on that story.

A lot!

I could claim the record here. 1949 Rovers v Man City, aged 2, sitting on my Dad's shoulders in the Darwen End Enclosure. A very eventful match but I remember nothing of it! EDIT---we were awarded 3 penalties and missed the first two!.Eckersley took the third and scored. We won but can't remember the score.

The Club's aim is to stay in this division. That's all we have to look forward to.

I believe some schools don't allow heading in training anymore.

Valérien Ismaël: Blackburn Rovers Head Coach
47er replied to DE.'s topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Dolan disallowed goal at the Turd? If we all put our heads together we'll go top of the Championship! -
Most up and down season I ever remember. Started off well with succession of wins, followed by consecutive defeats, rinse and repeat. Hardly any draws. Hampered by poor goalkeeping and lack of strike force. Unable to beat the crap teams especially mid-week. The negatives were obvious but not addressed in January. in the end, another seventh, another lost opportunity. Off the field happenings strongly affected events on the field. We can’t argue progress because the squad is about to be broken up.

Get Kaminski back!

That doesn’t appear like we tried to keep him does it? Why didn’t he deserve a substantial rise?

You’re right about that side being so much better than now Gav. We only signed 2 first team players close season and we were top of the Premier League. I say “only” because they were 2 great players but the point stands. The vast majority of that promoted side were Premier League quality. -
2025 Summer Transfer Thread. 😂

We’ll sign the number of players we need alright—-they will be League 1 standard or on loan. And in a year’s time we’ll do it all again. -
You will when you see his replacement!
-
Contradict me if I'm wrong but is Dolan on the same money he was when Preston dumped him and we took him on? In other words having played 200 games for us he's still being paid the same as when he was a teenager we took a gamble on. In Jacks day contracts were routinely revised (upward!) to ensure loyalty, reward players doing well and to avoid them ever being out of contract. If Venkys had been in charge Shearer would have left for nothing! He started on £950,000 a year but finished on much more. We lost him but at least Newcastle had to pay a then record transfer fee for him. This lot have no idea how to run a football club.
-
Well its obviously in the Plan. Section A para 1) "ensure all good players are locked in contract talks for years while their contract winds down so they go somewhere else."
-
That's the truth that so many Rovers fans cannot see.

Rudy Gestede - Big Chill podcast Interview
47er replied to Eddie's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
What Gestede says is not to be taken literally. His job is to defend the owners and the Admin ( of which he's a part). This is where critical faculties come in. You have to get behind the words for the true meaning. -
I wouldn't go that far and I don't believe anyone will offer him that deal. But he's reputedly on £8000 a week and he's clearly going to get more than that somewhere else. We should at least match it.
-
No point distinguishing between them on talent. Venkys won't. We'll lose 4 of them, Baath might stay. He'd be the cheapest of those 5.
-
We're going to make a "final offer" to ensure we get as much compensation for him as possible. We know it will be rejected. Ismael has come as close as possible to confirm Dolan is leaving. Step forward Markanday! And the dumbing down accelerates.
-
No -Brainer then!!

Which we should do anyway with them all.

Forcing people to get the digital version thus preventing season ticket holders from passing on their ticket to a friend when they are not attending?

Rudy Gestede - Big Chill podcast Interview
47er replied to Eddie's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
He wants them to replace seasoned professionals like Travis and Brittain because he's under orders to get the wage bill down because Venkys have cut funding. Can't you see the bleeding obvious? Nothing to do with football.
