  1. It's a great idea and should receive full backing however it's a difficult time to get it into motion. The league 1 season or the season after when interest was peaking again would've been a great time. As mentioned above the club needs a shot in the arm again now, TM and co gave it a brief one but failed to build on it. His gang are more about down playing everything including to the owners by the looks of it. They want to mould a club and team that's comfortable for them to manage. BRFC needs a set up, ambition and mentality to try and punch way above its weight at every opportunity. We don't want a boom and bust attempt but we need bold leadership that reflects on the team and recruitment. The club needs to prick peoples interest again i think to give these ideas chance to thrive. Waggot just seems intent on the idea 10k will troop down from Blackburn & Darwen every game and pay top dollar. Easy street, he'll just keep finding fixed assets to sell instead.
  2. 150 mill ? So you don't think that if someone tipped them the nod that certain individuals might specialize in these projects then employing them might seem a tab more attractive ? It was a surprise to everyone when after employing no real directors they suddenly install a real CEO with experience on 300k p.a. Of course Mowbray got the credit for advising on that but maybe it goes a lot deeper.
  3. The narrative will be changing again soon if we end up in a relegation scrap. Fact is Weds and Brum will be down there partly because of poor management and so will we.
  4. 9 years ago we were in the Prem then we dropped with 4 years parachute money. Since then we've been bang in the middle of the champ barring 1 season in league 1. How the feck can we be 4 or 5 years behind Brentford ? He was saying similar about Preston not long ago when they beat us and finished above us x2. Add in Bowyer turned a couple of million quids worth of signings into 20+ mill. We spent 8 on a striker before that and he himself has spent 15 million on 3 forwards. The man is quite simply full of shit but the crafty old sod knows the owners and some of our fans are thick as shit as well.
  5. If that's the case it would sound like this is why he in particular was recruited. Having previous for this kind of project.
  6. It's crazy to assume some people in the middle of all this won't make themselves a nice bonus. Nothing illegal about it either it's just the way these things work although taking advantage of a situation raises moral questions. Finders fees, commission, sweentners, holding fees or just a plain old bonus. Not a bad gig if you can justify your position by bringing millions in, cover your own wages whilst you've been here AND get a cherry on top.
  7. Yep like the absolute fallacy thrown around last year that we'd have made the play offs if Dack was fit. Nonsense, a few points better off yes but anything else was fantasy. As is this season if Ayala stayed fit, if the pitch was better, if it wasn't for covid etc etc. Blind leading the blind this management set up needs luxury loan signings, a pool of young talent and about 20 others just to tread water.
  8. Absolutely, there's no doubt he tries but he's more hopeless on the left than the right. Get the ball and tries to dribble it then falls over or is robbed, gets drawn inside naturally then leaves a huge space where he should be. Rinse and repeat. Absolute braindead stuff from the so called experts. I think if ever there was a case to be held up for a player simply being shoehorned into a side by a manager desperate to justify his signing then it's him. Piss poor stuff.
  9. Did we have a shot on target in the first half ? How many corners do we manage in the game ? How many free kicks went into the box ? For all the nice runs of Rothwell or the odd nice interchanging of passes we really are one trick ponies.
  10. Iv'e had a few rows since last night, non of them over 21 by looks of it. Only thing i can put it down to is Mowbrays victim wailing appeals to that generation. They are always all over woe is me sob stories that's the fashion these days. So he just strikes a chord with the kids.
  11. Armstrong was 1.75 rising to 3 mill over his contract with 40% of profit over that going to Newcastle in a sell on. If they get 7 mill for him after all that then they've about covered Breretons fee. I reckon that's how it will work.
  12. The problem is fitting the talent into a good functioning team that gets some consistency to stay in the running. Said this before but we have loads of good players but a lot don't really compliment each other. Any side with Armstrong/Dack/Rothwell/Brereton/Elliot/Travis/Dolan should be frightening the life out of most opposition. They don't though because the manager hasn't a scooby how to get the best formation from them. So we have a constant mix and match policy before you even include injuries. If it works it works and sometimes works well but if it doesn't they just shrug their shoulders and carry on the same. That might develop a squad in terms of experience, mins and value but it will never have a team that'll prosper. As long as he's here that's what he'll keep doing though.
  13. He's angling for another contract though i can see it, 4 or 5 years behind Brentford/Training center project that'll take years to implement. Saying 'i don't know' to the reporter when asked if he'll be here in summer. It's all adding up to him turning around and saying if you want me to stay i need more time and security to set up the Brentford model. It's coming i tell you.
  14. We started this season with as close to a top 6 challenging squad as we've ever had. The manager telling us this is what he's been building for and that's where he expects this squad to be. Nobody wants to be hanging about in the middle every season and we have players who aren't here for that---- his very own words. Ok multiple reasons mean we've fallen short, it happens there are no wands or guarantees. However to go from that to facing the prospect of starting next season with god knows how many not here and potentially not here is ridiculous. Planning my backside it's clear as day every summer they just come up with another formula to wing it and hope for the best. This manager has put together a good squad but he hasn't the first iota what to really do with it. Thank god for the youth because we are going to need it but we need someone to get the best from it. Not just give people games for the sake of it.
  15. It became obvious in the Kean/Anderson era that the PR teams were at work on the LT. The comments section has always probably bore less resemblance to real opion than any other platform. Infested by Dingles and those on certain pay roles. They get found out quickly on sites like this, facebook is too obvious, so they're left with that. It is the clubs main propaganda machine anyway.
  16. That's the kind of challenge you throw yourself in when you are frustrated. Every right to go for it and i don't attach any blame to Raya. Legitimate calls for a pen though they've been given. Tactics and formation all wrong yet again in the first half, looked so much better after the break with the changes. Although they let us play a bit more and looked to counter. A draw of 0-0 or 1-1 should've been the result and it would've been a credible one.
  17. Tough night tonight for everybody but the 6 losses in 7 ruined the season. At least half of that was on the managers head. All wrong again tonight with the starting line up and tactics the guys commentating and in the studio highlighted it more than once. Good team they are but we were too easy to push back again. Decent changes and we looked a far better side. Dacks injury is a disaster for everyone but of course it seems Mowbray is getting half the sympathy for it 'because he really cares'. Well i think there'd be something very wrong if he didn't. Injury and penalty farces aside tonight told us nothing we didn't already know, he's overcooked the goose yet again.
  18. It's not usually those he rotates though, this will be some tactical thing to do wit the opposition no doubt.
  19. He was one fit geezer he told us one night in the pub that he used to do a full warm up routine. Sit ups, pull ups, press ups etc before he even went out to play although i don't think pre match warm ups on the pitch were quite the same then. In fact i think it was voluntary and only those who could be arsed had a bit of a kick about 🤣 He did also say when he went to Burnley Stan Ternant thought he was mad. He'd never seen anyone doing chin ups before a game !
  20. There'll end having to be a 24/7 rota by the sound of things in order to let everyone cover everything. Hope the residents like all late night floodlights, oh and the extra vans in and out everyday carrying stuff that'll end up being stored at Ewood instead.
  21. Terms that die off often reappear these days with a different or slightly different meaning. 'Expansive football' used to mean being open, using the width of the pitch and letting the ball do the work. Working it forwards in sideways passing and looking to slip the strikers in. Seems it's being used to describe what was once over 'pass and move' football which is different than the more rigid version. Expansive teams often held high lines and were often wide open at the back as a result. Needed very good very quick defenders. We had what i thought was a version of it under Souness in his later stages here once he'd declared the winger dead. It didn't work then either. Not actually sure what Mowbray version is but to me it's neither expansive nor pass and move, probably something in between. Just basic possession football most of the time with a slow build up and little end product mainly due to lack of movement up front. Dolan and Brereton help in that regard though at times when they get chance otherwise it's just keep getting it to selfish Arma or hope Dack does something.
  22. Just another backside covering sales pitch, we need to sell that land to build the Brenford model hint hint. Then we'll be up there challenging like them !
  23. That's what it is general as well, operating at their level. ToMo dragged the club back up at first attempt and quickly stabilised it that's true and fair play. It was still a midtable Championship club that had been messed around and miss managed front to back. Not like we'd be rotting in league one for years or had no capability to bring any players in. Now though that middle of the road Champ club is very much their level they aren't clued up enough to push it on. So what do they do, they come up with a plan best suited to that and them. No more bringing in 7 and 5 millin pound signings, big wage experienced pros and luxury young loanees then being told get us in the top 6. No madame we'll just sit here, cut corners, swap the team around every week so everyone gets games then churn out players for other clubs. Somewhere along the line we might have a lucky season. Some say that's the way we have to go but it still only works if you are churning out players every season worth good money. Young worth 10 mill and players you've signed worth two or three times that in a short amount of time. We'd still need masses of outside funding to prop it up and no way is it happening at this level paying less than ten grand per week. Fantasy land being pushed by those not capable of anything else. Hands up those who genuinely think they are capable of carrying off such a Brentford style plan anyway ?
  24. I'm trying to give them the benefit of the doubt on that one for now. I just think they keep coming up with bits to add to this 'journey' they've blagged the owners with. It's all in the name of stringing it out as long as possible to cover the fact at first team level we'll keep falling short. In terms of Waggot and Venus though there are too many parallels with stuff before for it not to whiff a bit. He's got multiple selling points on this one here though to cover over the cash grab for the club. And of course these things never ever pass without a set of people in the middle making a few quid.
