  1. Had to watch on the box due to pathetic pointless kick off time and i'm surprised to say I don't think the commentator mentioned more than a dozen times. He must have thought Leeds would've brought more.........
  2. Did well when he came on today but he still needs to get some time down the middle but if you're going to keep throwing him on the wing just to get game time then today was the right way to do it. Do not start him there it weakens the team and doesn't appear to do much for his confidence.
  3. I think if he played there every week and made it his own he'd be consistent. What a utility man he is though !
  4. Professional performance from TM and the boys today proving we can see out a result against a good side if we keep our composure and don't keep swapping system about after goals. Good win against a good side who knock it about well and if we could string 3 passes together instead of two then third straight to opposition we'd be as good as them. Two other things from today.. 1) Leeds hordes were mostly mute and made naff all difference to the result again, they'll never learn wily waving is pointless when you're as inconsistent as they've been down the years. 2) Elliot Bennett is by far the best right back at the club !!!
  5. Too many seem to be buying into the propaganda spouted in the LT 'warning' fans, no wonder people get put off. How many ST holders will swerve tomorrow and watch it on the box when they read guff like that hell Leeds have been regular visitors to Blackburn down the years and aside from drunken noise how many serious disorder incidents have there been ? Not many at all hell the other year it was a few lads bouncing around in the Postal Order not rampaging through town, I've seen that stuff in pubs by our own fans many times down the years. See Leeds visits to those of Man U down the years and it's incomparable there's been bother nearly every time either with that lot or by that lot when Salfords finest have a big local day out yet no messing with that fixture other than when tv dictates and they're allowed all day drinking locally for a tea time kick off. This is yet another fixture alongside Burnley, Bolton that was one of the best on the calendar but is having the life squeezed out of it by overkill ! Anyway balls to all that i'm still going for 2-1 Rovers in a hard fought game with us coming from behind COYB
  6. That's were it doesn't really work nor make it feasible really unless the team is doing really well they've had stuff like that in the past and at home to a Brentford or Reading midweek you'll put about 200 on the gate. To get people back in the habit you have to strike whilst the iron is hot get them in when interest is peaking or next best thing is games against big name opposition like tomorrow. Looks like being 21k but would've been 25k+ with some good home fan pricing strategy. Take the easy route though let the police run it let them get their overtime and on job training in, no Burnley games these days so Leeds it is and rely on a huge away support paying top dollar to cover the extra cost, no doubt an invite or two to the policemans Christmas ball drops on the Ewood mat. A right cop out !
  7. Think it was called The Wheatsheaf back around then unless that was another one in close proximity ? There was the Cellar Bar as well.
  8. Contempt for the fans. "The travelling few" he frequently and needlessly pointed out in his away match reports when Allardyce was in charge.
  9. I don't actually mind the underdog tag at the min if those sides look at us as a club just out of league 1 after years of turmoil and a potential easy three points, these players respond better to that. We went to a few places early last season with a big time attitude and came unstuck so hopefully these lot do underestimate us. Just don't want Tony putting the fear of god into them and us starting like startled rabbits in the headlights as that happens too often under his stewardship although to be fair his methods saw us through it last season but too risky in this league to sit off every week for first 20 mins imo.
  10. I remember hearing a few tales of a rampage by Leeds some time back in the 80's don't know if that was it but there was a tale of them ruining some local Saturday morning football matches on playing fields not too far from Ewood ? Another time a gang of them attacked I think it was the Jubilee pub in town centre looking for Blackburn lads who weren't even in there, think that might have been a postponed game or something or Leeds were somewhere else locally and just showed up there. That would've been late 90's probably though, mate of mine a student then was in there playing pool with his pals when they burst in. Think he hid under the table, scared him for life that did he wasn't the laddish type ?
  11. Club grew very rapidly in a short space of time 92-95 and obviously got to take into account the old Ewood was restricted capacity and still 4/5k in the old DE were for away fans. Never quite understood why they didn't make that half and half at the time because it was half empty most weeks in first Prem season yet rest of ground sold out. We don't really know how many we could've got then and the whole new Ewood was only finished around when ? 94 is ? So the growth continued on the back of the title winning success although obviously some crap seasons, managers, players and relegation dented it but Souness restored order and got people believing again until he predictably lost the plot. They surprisingly dropped again under Hughes despite Bellamy, Savage etc and some good money being spent BUT guess what.....yeah they hiked the price of ST's etc in one big jump thinking it was a good time to do so. It back fired big time..........
  12. When teams get pens the crowd celebrate and some players clench fists of more like high five each other these days but just around then when Rovers got a pen the place fell silent and players slunk away and daren't look at each other' We'd missed god knows how many in a row and gone around the team different taker every time it seemed and it fell to young rookie David May. Think most of the credit for that miss from Leeds perspective goes to a certain Mr Vincent Jones who had a quick word with a sheepish looking May as he showed for the ball If I remember right ?
  13. Earplugs ??? Leeds filling that end never have the same effect as the Geordies or the red rags when they do the same, more on a par with the likes of City etc sometimes good but often not really so put yer willy away ? Leeds in the old Darwen end terrace were a different animal though....literally, sadly.
  14. And we'd like to see the club stick to 3pm for non tv games and do ticket initiatives for match's like this one to actually try and boost the HOME SUPPORT not rolling out every carpet they can find for away fans who'll pay top whack ! So f###### annoying !
  15. Wasn't that Charlton match a tenner or something or maybe i'm mixing it up with another ? Seem to think we played them in the second tier and they were being crowned champs and brought up a whopping 800 and the crowd was about 18k but that was normal prices.
  16. Opinion pieces easily mistaken as fact again. Poor stuff from Mr Superfan.
  17. Interesting breakdown and I know you are posting it as purely from a revenue perspective BUT that's exactly how the suits pushing buttons, touching screens and crunching numbers look at it. What you have on here is the flip side of the coin i'e the hardcore fans way of looking at it saying why should I pay up front every season just to be jerked around at someones whim and why I should I choose a Tues night game in pishing rain in November paying best part of 30 quid when I can press a button and watch it ? If anything highlights how media is now the life blood of the game and not the fans I think that post is it.
  18. Top and bottom is they aren't bothered we've been saying for years on here that you'll end up with games in virtually empty stadiums kicking off at 10 am Sat morn just to fill in a slot. If the broadcasters can get good advertising revenue they'll pay the clubs to do as they are told. Ever decreasing circles but the suits, players and agents are getting better off by the year and so it will continue. The soul of the game was sold long long ago but of course you'll get a sky gen fan popping up saying I think it's great, I love football so will happily watch Bolton v Reading over my cornflakes and I won't notice the bigger picture until it affects my team or me personally !
  19. Just point out to them this huge club with the most passionate support in the universe was getting 21k and under not long ago and bringing 3.5k to Ewood despite their 700k population in a one club city and catchment area that stretches up to Harrogate and beyond. Tends to rile them a bit but we've sent their hordes home miserable plenty times down the years so i'm not sure why their arrogance or thinking a massive following guarantees a win. Usually works the opposite way round for Rovers ! Pressure is all on them to deliver.
  20. Tommy Hatcher before he ended up on Green Street ?
  21. A pub near us had a Craft Ale cart outside during the World Cup although it was American Ales obviously so as not to clash with their own stuff. Inside Wembly at the boxing the other week they had Real Ale carts and Gin carts next to the hotdog stands etc so surely something along those lines might be sourceable ?
  22. And the gloss wears off after a few years newness, a few big names haul themselves back to Prem stability, obscene contracts for bang average players and saturation tv coverage are the norm. The tv and advertising giants start to lose interest and bang we have that scenario unfolding again like the digital thing or whatever it was years ago were the money suddenly dries up !!! Suits running the game won't care though they'll have had their few quid out of it.
  23. Everyone's ground was too big for them in the 80's. Even Burnley although they'll tell you different ?
  24. I don't think Waggot has made it worse he just hasn't gone all out to try and reverse the trend when there was the best opportunity there's been since Allardyce pitched up and him & Williams came up with ideas to boost numbers. Again though they had the 'product' a lot of fans only have eyes for .. the Prem. There's been a bit of complacency there but an outsider coming in not understanding the club/town/area is nothing new particularly under this ownership but it even took Williams a while to come to terms with the Blackburn way. The club was in terminal decline but they've stopped that and put one foot on the rebuilding ladder but to push it on with this altogether mantra needs some serious thinking. Otherwise it will soon be back to being a treading water lower table selling/trading club again cashing in the assets, paying the bills, putting money in agents pockets and asking the 10k to support it. That was only a few short years ago and a return to that would be fatal.....again.
