Not entirely true. Ignoring Cantwell's half dozen shots either wide of the posts or straight at Charles, Ohashi had 3 straightforward chances from which Gudjohnsen would certainly have scored at least one without being either the second coming of Shearer or Rhodes. He would just need to be the 7 goals in 17 appearances Andre Gudjohnsen which is his Rovers track record. -
Well that pathetic point at Hillsborough increased the gap to 22nd and 23rd.

Rovers played that game so slowly, most of the message board could have put a gold shirt on and not been embarrassed. -

Well that made a striker the only priority for this window -

Gudjonsson being injured has probably cost us 4 points in the last two games but we really missed the dynamism of Morishita tonight. Tronstad red mist after reading too many Revidge Blue posts.. -

This is all about our mentality and set up. Need high energy and press from the start and to quieten their crowd. If we let them get their tails up we are inviting trouble. Ordinarily there would be 3,000+ travelling Rovers fans for this game so those who are there are going to have to make twice as much noise! -

Is there some seriously bad news about Carter and/or Wharton not in the public domain? -
Valérien Ismaël: Former Head Coach
philipl replied to DE.'s topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
I hope he is prickly upwards as he is outwards. I suspect he is. Still a parson's egg so far despite the rum hand he has been given by both Pasha/Venky's, the weather Gods and the fates. Some stonking good performances away from Ewood mixed in with real horror shows at Charlton and second half at Portsmouth in particular. I know people who are much closer to the club than me don't like him but I find him refreshing after Eustace's media appearances. Huge amount depends on what happens in the next ten weeks. A shit show of a window which net weakens the squad and includes a 31 January sale of Tronstad for a can of baked beans plus a standard Jan/Feb Rovers slump and toxicity will be off the scale. -
Really chuffed for him doing so well at Espanyol who are having a cracking season very comfortably tucked into 5th place.

This is a seriously weird thread about a very good point picked up at Boro. Would have been three with a fit Gudjohnson. -

Why do the words piss-up and brewery seem inextricably linked to Blackburn and Rovers? -

That is a relief that there is no basis in Dykes- he is mostly garbage. I would drop McLaughlen before dropping Pratt or Miller for the return of any of Wharton, O'Riordan and especially Carter. With regards to that Pululu video, quality of opposition or lack of. -
We can easily forget that so many of our youngsters have lost a year or more to serious injuries. I tend not to look at the ages of our Academy graduates. Scott Wharton is still a promising youngster in my mind yet he is 28.

Looked in vain for Barry Bannon to be listed among the wounded. Hull gifted the two Wednesday goals and received a couple of gifts in return. Well it is Christmas... -
The January 2026 Transfer Window
philipl replied to chaddyrovers's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Why are we talking about Dykes and who was Beck? We moved Vale on in the Summer also. If we are replacing any of the back 3 with O Riordan, surely it is McLaughlin? If we have budget, I would move Gueye on and focus on a striker early in the window given Gudjonsson is not going to be available all January. -
Beating Tunisia 3-1 means Nigeria almost certainly win the Group and a favourable draw in the knock outs. Let's see if there any squad rotation for the last Group game.

Valérien Ismaël: Former Head Coach
philipl replied to DE.'s topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Jaw dropping! Not the halal report but everything else- perhaps explains why the players coming in from the Academy are doing so well. Back to Ismael, no denying he is capable of setting a team up well, motivating them when things look bad and making astute subs. He also has had a fair share of cock ups and struggles at Ewood in a two thirds empty stadium, rancid atmosphere and a variable playing surface cum swimming pool. -
The Aynsley Pears depreciation thread.
philipl replied to Neal's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Been pleasantly surprised and relieved by Pears' performances and his hair looks good too. Early on there were a couple of goals conceded Toth would have got to but I suspect Toth is going to have a tough time displacing him. I hope Michalsky gets a chance to redeem his Bradford howler when we go to Hull. -

No idea what we are recruiting for this January. Avoiding relegation? A play off push? Injury cover? Next summer's transition? Agents' benevolence fund? -

philipl replied to JHRover's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Won't be easy especially with all our absences likely increased by the Boro game but we really need to grind out a win at Hillsborough. Thankfully we still have several options to select from and I suspect more youngsters will be getting more match time. For Wednesday, every game is a free hit so they will make for unusual opposition but they have enough players who are not Championship level for this to be all about us being clinical in exploiting their slip ups. -

10 players unavailable yet we matched the 2nd in the league in all aspects. Baradji looks class and was the vislftim of a red card assault. Meanwhile 3-3 at the Racecourse with 32 minutes left... -

Doesn't negate the fact that like his team mates he had a bit of a stinker at Bristol on Saturday. Hopefully we don't suffer from a rebound reaction on Boxing Day. -

Bristol City beat Boro 2-0 in their last game, not because Bristol were brilliant but because Boro were distinctly ordinary. Brittain in particular was nothing like the player he was for us. -
1 point from Norwich, Oxford, Portsmouth and Swansea. Slitting our own throats.
