v Blackpool (h) - 9/4/22

Unbelievably poor and not much to take from the insipid performance at all. Very little intensity, slow, deliberate play made for an awful afternoon for Rovers fans. The passing was as bad as it's been for a long while. Short passes which should be bread and butter for a professional footballer were missing their target and the ball far too often was given away. In truth we were lucky to get a point but it doesn't matter now in my view - the good ship playoffs has sailed away and the manager has to carry the can for this epic failure and capitulation. I am really fearful already for next season if Mowbray and his cohorts are still here given the rebuild that we need. I would sack him now and at least give a new man some time to plan but this is Venky world we have lived in for 10+ years and I think we know that won't happen. As a wider issue Mowbray once again showed his disdain for Nyambe by taking him off. Pickering was having an awful afternoon and could have cost us a couple of goals but he kept him on. He offered nothing going forward and at times looked like he was running in treacle. I didn't disagree with going to a back four but Wharton could have gone to left back and kept Nyambe who was at least bombing on. Poor again from our manager. -

Looks like 3-4-3 formation with Nyambe and Pickering as wing backs in possession and full backs out of possession. -

I have a strange feeling that we are going to score four or five today. Normally I don't do predictions because of all the variables in football (and Mowbray as manager) but since yesterday my mind set has been a comfortable win. -
Excellent post. It mirrors mine and many others thoughts but in my case you have stated it far more eloquently than I could. I would really like to see responses from some of Mowbrays supporters.

Premier League season 21/22

Everton have far too many players who I would call soft, the type you don't want in the trenches with you. And Lampard as manager, do me a favour. This notion that because you were a top player you become a top manager certainly doesn't apply here. An example of how poor he is was at Burnleys corners. They are noted for their strength in the air and Lampard has his team zonal marking which led to the first goal. And Ashley Cole as number two? Enough said. -

You certainly won't lose at Norwich on Saturday. It's on Sunday. I think you are getting giddy 😁😁😁 -
What an embarrassment last night at Deepdale as the Nobbers manager celebrated like they had won the league. They were playing Blackpool who were below them in the league and he was whooping up a 1-0 win.
-
I have said all along if he goes it will be to get a new deal put in place. We will see soon though.
-
Do you honestly believe they will fly him to India to tell him they aren't renewing his contract? And that he will actually go if he knows that is the case? What if we get promoted? Are you saying even in that unlikely situation they won't offer him a new deal. https://uk.finance.yahoo.com/news/mowbray-set-summer-contract-talks-050000549.html

Mowbray is due to go to India in the summer to meet the owners. If the speculation is true that he has another job lined up is he stringing us and the owners along? Surely not honest Tony working for, in his words these good people.

Agents charge for new contracts that existing players sign too. -
Well done for starting a thread about what will be, I believe one of the most important summers of recent times. The lack of quality and ability of the players left should frighten the life out of any Rovers supporters. Replacing the out of contract players will cost a lot of money, money we simply don't seem to have. I can't see the stand out loan players like Khadra and Van Hecke returning as they will be part of Brightons first team squad. Looking at the list you have compiled coupled with no money and this newly found 'wage structure ' I can't help but worry about next season. And if Mowbray is still here heaven help us.

Not the answer to your question but from Feb 21 to Jan 22 we spent £1m on agents. -

And another rant whilst I'm still feeling angry. How can he start Nyambe after several weeks out and not playing a game but say that Brereton isn't ready to start despite playing for eighty minutes in midweek. Mowbray is a walking, talking contradiction. -

Mowbray once again is happy to deflect his huge inadequacies away by blaming the referee. I didn't hear him mention that we benefited from the referees poorest decision when Van Hecke should have been sent off.I Even after a nights sleep my anger towards Mowbray hasn't subsided. And rethinking some of his decisions why on earth did he bring Hedges on for Buckley and leave Johnson on the bench? This was less than an hour after taking off two players because the were like fishes out of water and having to completely change the shape of the team. Less than an fucking hour............ -

At half time I would have snatched your hand off for a point but I was disappointed at the final whistle. The real issue for me, once again is Mowbray. How can he get it wrong so many times by playing players out of position in a system that a footballing Einstein would have struggled to understand. We looked disjointed, unbalanced and in truth like the players didn't care. And that is down to Mowbray who just doesn't seem to learn from the numerous times he has done this before by trying to be too clever. Switching to a 4-3-3 and having square pegs in square holes made a difference like you wouldn't believe. The same players who were shockingly bad all of a sudden looked like footballers and got on the front foot. Hopefully we only have six games more of his buffoonery and he sails off into the sunset. I think another few years of him would really be detrimental to this great club. -
Did anybody notice Mowbrays tan in his interviews this week? I hear that Dubai is nice this time of year
-
That says more about the owners and their shocking mismanagement in my view. I have little time for Mowbray but trying to absolve these owners by blaming him is bordering on lunacy.

Some traffic news for anybody who is driving to Coventry tomorrow. https://www.lancs.live/news/lancashire-news/m6-disruption-weekend-just-one-23564075 -
I'm certain this will be the headline in a few months but with an added hyphen. MOWBRAY RE-SIGNS.
-
https://www.lancs.live/sport/football/transfer-news/championship-transfers-preston-blackburn-blackpool-23559110 We spent £1m on agents and intermediaries between February 21 and January 22. I suspect a big chunk of this was bringing in loan players. Staggeringly Derby spent £750k - how on earth is that allowed to happen?

The really good news is that there were only 170 tickets left as of 9 am today out of an allocation of 2000. Once again the travelling fan's are doing their bit. The big question is will the team and Mowbray. I was impressed with Coventry at Ewood when they came back from two down to draw and were denied, in my opinion a nailed on penalty. There are far to many variables from our perspective to call this but as ever I'll take the scabbiest of scabby 1-0 wins. -
Has it been confirmed about Lenihan and Van Hecke being out? I agree about not going up but I really want, in the words of Bowyer to have a really good go. That to me means taking a risk of two, something that Mowbray doesn't do too well.
-
In truth I don't think anybody wants or expects him to be at his best. We need a goal of two and the meagre return of the rest of the team means he is absolutely our best chance. Statistically the team scoring first in the Championship has something like, from memory an 80% chance of winning. That is one of the main reasons I would start him and and not bring him on when the game could be set. And his presence should give the team and supporters a lift.
