  1. Planning for next season will be starting soon and if Mowbray is given until the end of the season and then sacked any new manager would be starting from scratch in terms of new signings (and given the out of contract and loan players that could be a lot).
  2. An absolute waste of money. Mowbray should be held accountable for this farce.
  3. That's akin to saying that Mowbray shouldn't be allowed to sign any more players because generally his signings haven't added value. After the last four games I really believe we will be in a relegation scrap and anything can happen. We are stagnant under Mowbray and I don't think he can turn this malaise around. We need some fresh ideas, some motivational techniques and a new pair of eyes. I said to you the other day that I would move Damien Johnson up and you disagreed which is your prerogative. There is growing concern about the direction we are going under Mowbray but your assertion about the elephant still in the room is absolutely correct. Venkys are slowly killing us.
  4. That my friend is absolute nonsense. Bristol should have been the template for the way forward but since then we have been poor in every game.
  5. I'm struggling to think of one positive from the shambles today. If there is a possibility of sending Walton back to Brighton I would do it. He is so brittle and his decision making is worse than Raya's not to mention his awful distribution. I'm sure Lenihan has an anvil for a head as the ball doesn't half come off his head at some funny angles. Tosin wasn't much better. Both full backs were appalling and in midfield Downing was the only player who got anywhere near the standard required. Our strikers were frankly embarrassing. Mowbray is blaming errors and whilst that is true the close scoreline today papers over lots of cracks. The buck stops with him and he just doesn't have the answers. We have no footballing identify despite him being here nearly three years and spend upwards of £15m. I have always said he is Mr Average, a mid table shoe in type but after the last four games I believe we are regressing and will be in a relegation scrap.
  6. The lack of faith in Mowbray and the team is apparent and it's difficult to argue with. These fallow periods which have been a constant in Mowbrays tenure are depressing. To add some balance we can also go on winning/unbeaten runs too but this aspect of Mowbrays management is really frustrating and it's during the poor runs that the apathy towards him increasingly grows. Personally I am traveling down in a forlorn hope that we can win but being realistic I expect a defeat and lots of excuses about injuries and tiredness.
  7. Happy New Year to Rovers fans everywhere. Let's hope the ball runs kindly for us on the field and that our insolent owners do the honourable thing and pass the club to people who care.
  8. It's a moot point you are making. I'm my previous post the point was about wasting money rather than being pedantic about when it was.
  9. Will they no be included in the latest accounts? Irrespective my point about Mowbray splurging money stands.
  10. But they didn't play for nothing. And we ended up paying them off. A rough estimate between £1.5 and £2m. We did pay a fee for Gladwin and then gave him a six month deal to convalesce. These are questions the owners should be asking.
  11. With his slow build and us treading water we are just going further into the abyss. Johnson has proved he can improve young players. As I said our only hope is selling young players as promotion is really out of the question given the playing squad we currently have. I would rather we were an average Championship club with youngsters rather than loans and one year deals for aging players. In my view we can keep our Championship status with the former.
  12. Mowbrays slow build theory is backfiring massively. With another huge loss just reported and no real assets to cash in with and now Dack is injured our future looks bleak. And with several out of contract and loan players potentially leaving they will need replacing. With no money what will he bring in? With the problems mounting our only escape route is youngsters and I would entrust Damien Johnson to try and take the players he has nurtured into the first team.
  13. I would imagine that a lot of these were critical of the protests about Kean and the owners when the 'get behind the team' phrase was coined. We all know how that ended. If fans want a lower to mid table club then Mowbray is their man. I consider myself a proper supporter and I want the best for my club. Mowbray is probably doing his best but for me it's not enough. Being a good man but average manager cuts no ice with me. Mowbray gets an easy ride at our club. He appears to have autonomy on most things. When the heat was turned up slightly during and after the Barnsley game he seemed to be wobbling.
  14. Mowbray quite rightly points out in interviews that he has been in professional football for over forty years and I respect that but why the hell did he shift Gallagher to wide right when thousands of us could see we needed a presence down the middle. To accommodate this he put Armstrong central which effectively put two players out of the game. This didn't cost us the game but it infuriated me almost as much as the result. Mowbrays pig headedness is infuriating. We were poor today against a bad Huddersfield side with the worst home record in the league. The first goal is embarrassing. From behind the goal Walton was poor and should have come for the ball but far worse than that was the number of times we gave the ball away or were caught in possession. Nearly every player was guilty of this. As many have said we are treading water with Mr Average in charge. Mid to lower table is a shoe in with him and my absolute worry is that there seems to be an acceptance of that.
  15. Your first paragraph is contradicted by paragraphs 4, 5 and 6.
  16. Aside from around four players I haven't a clue who will play or what formation we will play. Is it because Mowbray likes to keep the opposition guessing or because he really doesn't know his best team or the best system suited to his best eleven. In my opinion it's the latter. And it's because of this I haven't a clue what the result will be but I expect some of his natural caution to influence his selection.
  17. It's the modern way mate. Some want pure athletes with muscles in their spit. I remember reading once that Jason Lowe was our fittest player ?. Buckley has fantastic balance which more than makes up for his lack of physique. I remember refereeing Ryan Giggs (nee Wilson) when he was 15. He was playing for Salford Boys against Liverpool Boys and the Manc/Scouse rivalry was evident and with Giggs' reputation he became a target for these hairy arsed Scousers. As we were walking off at full time I noticed his pristine kit without speck of mud on it. I then realised that despite many attempts to kick him he rode every challenge and never went to ground. This was on a shit heap of a pitch too. His balance was exquisite and Buckley has that same attribute. He seems to glide around the pitch. Patience and a platform to play are the most important aspects of his development in my view.
  18. Buckley is one of very few of our players who has a change of pace when he has the ball. This was typified on Boxing Day in the left band corner of the Blackburn End. In no space at all he left two Birmingham players for dead on the goal line. He also plays on the half turn as well as any of our players. What won't help him is Mowbray putting his hands on his head when he makes a mistake. He has to be nurtured and given the platform. Interestingly Mowbray names him in a list is several players who could replace Dack. I really hope he does.
  19. Joleon Lescott looks after all the players out on loan from City and if there was likely to be movement of Tosin surely he would be the man behind it. An agent wouldn't have any say in it I don't believe. On that alone I think it's somebody putting two and two together.
  20. Sorry I read your post as letting them go in the summer. They would still want paying up though.
  21. Yeah that Paul Cook has a right gob on him.??
  22. We are paying them anyway to do nothing so why not do a deal for say 80% of the remaining time on their deals and let them find a new club each in January. Win/Win.
  23. Nobody in their right minds would pay money for them and they will be paid far too much for the level of their ability primarily down to Mowbrays benevolence. The only option I believe would be to do them a deal on the rest of their contracts, cut our losses and get shut of them.
  24. Due largely to Mowbrays incompetence in the transfer market I believe that the summer window will need a large influx of quality and in this department he has been more but than miss. Assuming Tosin, Cunningham and Walton go back to their parent clubs that is going to leave a huge void. Graham, Leutwiler, Downing, Bell, Bennett and Samuel are all out of contract in June 2020 according to transfermarket.co.uk. With the dross like Smallwood, Hart and Gladwin too that could be twelve players not reporting back for pre season. That is going to be some rebuild from a normally cautious manager who will only bring a certain type of character into the club and they had to bed them in. It's going to be a massive eight or so months for Blackburn Rovers.
  25. I wouldn't consider the likes of Gladwin, Smallwood and Hart as first team squad plays they should all be given early releases from their contracts. One big problem with the squad is that it's really unbalanced with it being top heavy in certain positions and light in others. Mowbray should really address this but as you say it doesn't look like it will happen next month.
