  1. Liverpool fans will keep telling you that it's all paid for with the Coutinho money though....
  2. Agreed, I suspect to start with he'll be coming off the bench for Cantwell, playing in behind the striker. He might start the early cup games. Got to see how it goes with him but needless to say, if he's not even getting off the bench regularly at the very least, he'll probably be off to Arsenal at the first opportunity
  3. Thanks for that. I don't know an awful lot about stress fractures, so I assumed they would heal over a few weeks and that would be that. With what you've posted there, sounds like this would be a very risky signing and in all likelihood, he would be on the treatment table more than the pitch. As much as RG and probably VI like the guy, there must be less-risky alternatives we are looking at.
  4. To me, that sounds like we need to make additions on our front line (which could mean just a striker, or he's including the whole front 4) and then 2 or 3 additions across the rest of the positions.
  5. And the guy we are trying to sign on the pay as you play deal.
  6. Definitely need another striker, especially if Leonard isn’t considered up to it or loaned out. Not sure Big Mak fits the style we are looking at tbh. Probably need to be looking for a hardworking striker with a bit of pace, who can press the centre backs quicker.
  7. Thought he was very good today. Confidently came claimed a cross (caught the bloody thing as well) early in the second half, which Pears would have flapped/tried to punch. Also thought that save from the cross-shot was excellent as well.
  8. Agreed. Obviously a good finisher but there is a fair bit lacking from his game.
  9. I like De Neve. Works hard, bit of pace and seems to be able to nick the ball off opposition players.
  10. I agree, but Venky's are always behind the curve when it comes to Football. Probably still seething from Best, Murphy and Etuhu.
  11. He'll be 30 by the time that 2 years is done. The club only offer 1 year contracts to players over 30 (hence the 1 year option), I'm sure I read that somewhere.
  12. I think we need another centre back, even after McLoughlin signs. Carter is constantly injured and Wharton will take a while to get anywhere near up to the required level. Maybe a loan, unless there is an academy player ready to step up? Otherwise we are solely reliant on McLoughlin and Hyam for the majority of the season.
  13. It'll still go through. He want's to leave, he won't sign a new deal, we are "learning" from past mistakes (apparently) As expected, we'll just end up accepting a deal that see's him leave for a fraction of his value.
  14. Probably about the same time it takes a club to agree a fee for Callum Brittain, who only has 12 months left on his contract and is currently at a cash strapped Rovers, in fairness.
  15. The McLoughlin deal makes a lot of sense. Plenty of championship experience, left footed and we are desperate for a centre back. Taking advantage of Hull's situation as well, which makes a refreshing change, as it's normally us strapped for cash.
  16. Advanced talks means very little as far as this football club is concerned
  17. Yeah, not looking good right now. Even worse when you cast an eye towards the bench. Who's coming off the bench to impact a game? De Neve? Gueye?
  18. With Carter and Wharton being injury prone, that's us at full strength. Are we not at least a little bit worried about this upcoming season as it stands?
  19. He'd also require compo if we signed him, no idea on the level it would take but I think we can forget it.
  20. https://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/25314186.blackburn-rovers-transfer-plan-callum-brittain-bids/ From the horses mouth, no less.
  21. Definitely a dangerous game they are playing. Shipping out plenty of championship experience in favour of unknown players from abroad, could end spectacularly badly this season.
  22. As per JDT's remit, VI will only have 2 jobs: 1. Develop players 2. Stay in the Championship Much less money to be made from players sales in League One. They don't want relegation but there is clearly no desire for promotion either.
