  1. Just missed another chance to get a cross in His hair do is very good I have to admit
  2. Mighty Oxford winning at Millwall - who beat us not long ago
  3. Hedges and Weimann starting. That's an odd team - this could be messy
  4. Has he been linked to us (seriously) because otherwise there's little point in this discussion.
  5. I remember an early 1980s (I think it was), end of season game against Chelsea, crowd less than 5,000 IIRC, awful game, the Chelsea hooligans stormed the Blackburn End, the club and football itself felt like it was dying.
  6. So what? That doesn't qualify him to be a good manager I note Plymouth have won just 4 matches this season - one of them against Rovers Why is this not surprising?
  7. Sir Alf - trophy winner Sir Gareth - serial trophy loser Failure rewarded Go figure, as they say in the USA
  8. Is one better than the other? Neither good enough for the Championship in my view. Gestede having any say on transfers is a worry.
  9. Bow locks. The local ManU/Liverpool/etc “fans” are nothing more than than glory hunters. Plastic fans who never attend and watch football only on TV and support them because they’re on TV and they’re “successful” I remember in the 1960s and 70s coachloads heading off to Old Trafford from Blackburn boulevard on a Saturday morning. It annoyed me then and annoys me now. One of our neighbours is a ManU “fan”. I can’t discuss football with him because to me he’s not a true fan. He’s a traitor to his town in my eyes. If you live in east Lancashire and / or were brought up in the area you should be Rovers, Burnley or Stanley. And that’s it.
  10. The 6-match winning run was clearly an aberration and if you believe that everything reverts to the mean it is quite likely that we are now in the middle of a non winning sequence of matches. If we’re honest thecteam has outperformed to date. It’s higher than it should be given we don’t have any decent forwards and generally lack quality. It’s a mid table team at best and that’s where I think we’ll end up
  11. Good old Rovers. Always willing to help struggling clubs
  12. Sultans of Swing - Dire Straits
  13. We Gotta Get Out of This Place - The Animals
  14. Such a limited squad, so little quality. Without reinforcements (highly unlikely) you have to think we’ll finish up somewhere in mid table
  15. He’d be ok at amateur level. The semi-pro North West Counties league is too high for him though
  16. It’s certainly not “maintenance” through overuse.
  17. They’re not true wingers in that case A proper winger beats his man on the outside and bangs a good cross in for a big centre forward - classic English football attacking play. For Rovers Ripley and Wilcox were classic examples and going back further Wagstaff and Harrison were others. In the 1960s just about every team had players like these. The modern examples you quote aren’t true wingers to my mind - they’re wide attacking forwards.
  18. I've always avoided Rovers-Burnley matches over the years because of the animosity but I've just found out we've got tickets for this one. My best memory of these matches is the 1965-66 season when Rovers were relegated from the old first division but somehow managed to win 4-1 at Turf Moor. Here's hoping for a similar outcome
  19. It’s wonderful isn’t it? Ratcliffe’s sense of entitlement (“the 11 years since Ferguson retired have been agony” -despite United winning 4 trophies in that time) was really annoying. He doesn’t know what agony is - try supporting BRFC matey
  20. Or maybe the club is ok but he’s not very good? Not surprised by today’s result - Leicester far more likely than Wolves to go down
  21. McBurnie for Ewood? Sounds like a Christmas fantasy story to me.
  22. Millwall game sounds like the last away match I saw at Watford - another one we lost narrowly and probably didn’t deserve to lose. With a low scoring team like Rovers are at present margins are very tight and it only needs one mistake or moment of bad luck for it all to go wrong Clearly Rovers and Eustace got a lot right on the 6 game winning run but if we’re honest some of those games could have gone either way and we’d now be sitting somewhere in mid table instead of 5th The point is, to be successful in this league over 48 games tight margins and a struggle to score goals means we could just as easily follow the 6 game winning run with a 6 game losing streak, and looking at the forthcoming fixtures that’s an entirely possible scenario Let’s hope not
  23. What qualities would those be?
