  1. How are Morton and Wharton very different types of midfielders? What do you think their strengths are?
  2. Why is it understandable? Think Wharton is already a class above Morton and although his game time will need management he should be 1st choice alongside Travis.
  3. My recollection is Tony Parkes signed Per Pedersen for a fee of about £2million. I vaguely recall Parkes saying at the time it was 'my signing'. Don't recall either Hodgson or Ericsson having any links to Danish football in the 10 years or so prior.
  4. Totally agree. Understand he turned down a loan move to a northern League 2 club - if correct, he should have jumped at it. Think his confidence is totally shot and he needs to prove to himself he can do something even at League 2 level.
  5. Might be wrong here but I think Per Frandsen was a Brian Kidd signing and Kidd was sacked only a few weeks later.
  6. I think it's clear JDT simply does not fancy him. The manager sees him in training every day and one can only assume either Dack no longer has the physical fitness required or he wont play to the manager's instruction. If it's neither of those points then his scarce use is unfathomable.
  7. Can virtually guarantee Dack can make something happen. An 80/90% Dack is an improvement on some of the dross we have seen.
  8. Agreed. Worrying that 25% of season gone and I for one fail to see a semblance of a cohesive game plan. One has to start questioning some of JDT's selections. Don't fancy Cardiff on a blowy Tuesday night!
  9. So glad I couldn't make today's game!
  10. Results stay as they are, expect there'll be managerial vacancies at both M'brough and WBA tonight - horrible for those two clubs with such high expectations this season.
  11. Farcical. Wharton will be 10 times the player either Morton or Buckey will be. Even now, he starts ahead of those two for me.
  12. Don't understand exclusion of Brittain. Three of our main summer signings on the bench (Brittain, Szmodics and Hirst). Given article I saw this week which said we paid £1.8million up front for Szmodics, looks like a nice piece of business for the 'Posh' whilst let's not forget it's been stated Hirst was our number 1 striking target. Also, disappointing Wharton not even on the bench - can't be short of game time given he's been away with England. I thought Tony's tombola like and irrational selections were a thing of the past. JDT needs a win today with that selection.
  13. Optimism rears its head after the boring international break. Millwall are no great shakes as 6 points from their last 5 games testifies. Up and at 'em with an early Rovers' goal leading to a comfortable win. At 11/8 for Rovers' win, there's good money to be made.
  14. Never had that one - I'll take your advice and give it a miss! A sommelier once gave me two tips about Malbec. Firstly, pop it in the the fridge for about 20 minutes and then secondly let it breathe for about 20 minutes.- find it enhances the flavour and gives a smoother finish. If I'm organised then I will do it! If you like a particular Malbec and drink two bottles over two consecutive nights, first night do as you normally would but second night do as the sommelier suggested and see if you notice a difference.
  15. Think it was following the season we got relegated after the polio epidemic ruined our season. Think we was a highly intelligent and gifted footballer who never quite fulfilled his potential.
  16. and if I remember rightly, it was either John Byrom or Andy McEvoy who got our winner? Happy days, just loved the way Byrom played, a youthful arrogance and Andy McEvoy was a goal machine (think he averaged a goal in every 2 games with Byrom not too far away from that either).
  17. I don't think I have seen anyone ever hit a ball as hard as Harrison could and compared to today they were medicine balls!
  18. and Arsenal had a 15 year old schoolboy on the bench today who came on for a few remaining minutes! Just let that sink in. I know which of the two (Nwaneri or Hirst) is going to be a star!
  19. To me, it's simple with Dack. JDT sees him every day in training and has also seen him when he's played this season whether it be in friendlies, in the Carabo Cup or in Championship games when used. Sadly, I think the two horrific injuries have finished Dack as a force at this level. If Dack was anything like the player he once was then I think he would be ripping it up in training making it virtually impossible for our manager to leave him out of our starting 11. When he has been used in matches, IMO, he's a shadow of what he once was - the football brain may still be there but his body will not allow him to do what he once did.
  20. I can't recall Harrison ever missing a penalty! This guy had everything other than mental toughness. He debuted at just 16 for Chelsea and I think he averaged about 1 goal every 4 games for Rovers and for a winger that's a great return. Luton fans loved him when he went there and he was seen as a catalyst in their promotion from the old 3rd Division (now League 1). Sadly, he suffered from numerous thigh problems in his latter career, unsurprising given those huge muscular thighs, and his career just petered out.
  21. Helluva a penalty taker as well!
  22. Shame Harrison didn't have the 'hardness' or aggression of Mike 'Fergie' otherwise he'd have been a world beater.
  23. Chateau Queyret Pouillac is presently on sale at Booths for just £7.50/bottle. It's a wine which has 'plenty to say about itself'. A bit of a marmite wine - some love it, others wonder why. Widely retailed at about £10/£11 bottle so at just £7.50 think it's well worth a punt.
  24. Hugely disappointing. Big concern is our inconsistency - from the sublime (Watford) to the ridiculous (Luton). Physically and mentally we seem to struggle from one game to the next - as does our manager! Today only confirms what many of us have been saying for yonks - we need an ugly hard b@st@rd in midfield who can also play a bit. WTF JDT and Broughton couldn't see this is beyond me. I think it's clear either JDT doesn't rate Dack or his two horrible injuries have finished him as a force - let's remember JDT sees Dack in training every day. Think it's inexcusable for him to remain on the bench for the duration particularly when we are struggling and we need a spark - if he's nothing to offer then what is he doing there!? Many of us were sceptical about the signing of Hirst - seems our worse fears have been confirmed. As for Amari Bell, IMO, another example of a player not allowed to fulfill his potential at Rovers through Mowbray's idiotic man management and tactical idiocy. Solace will have to be sought tonight in a nice bottle of red or two!
  25. Assuming we've no more injury problems, and not seen any reported, I am hugely confident about a Rovers' win. Yep, Luton will most likely be physical, however, we've got the players available now to more than match them and it would be no surprise to see Hirst start given his big physical presence. It would also be no surprise to see at least 1 red card. Rovers at 5/2 is terrific value - fill yer boots. More than 2.5 goals has also been profitable for me in Rovers' games this season and at 13/11, I'll be having a piece of that as well. Good luck to those Rovers' fans going, I don't think there's a stadium I hate more than Kenilworth Road.
