  1. Past hour
  2. Correct me if I’m wrong, Parson, but you seem to have little issue with the owners. It’s just ‘well, we were spoilt with Jack and this is just how it is’? Is that a fair reflection?
  3. Careful Glen or you'll be sounding like Nicko!!
  4. That would all be relevant if the people making decisions were interested in anything other than getting their hands on transfer money and cutting the wage bill But there are no considerations beyond this so things like damage to the team, morale, upsetting fans, potentially ruining the season, all irrelevant.
  5. Travis is 100% the one leaving or available to leave if the right offer is made
  6. I agree, it’s Pasha then the owners. My real worry is, would they allow a prospective new owner to look at the books? I have a feeling that there are people on the payroll that shouldn’t be, but that’s just my gut feeling.
  7. Are we sure Travis is on his way out, I know Ismael hinted that is was possible but seems to be suicidal squad management to sell him now. Without Travis and Tronstad combo it could have been much worse yesterday. Travis is also a fighter and academy lad with a good connection to many fans. If that is the case I think it is a huge risk. We are already trying to get a cut price deal due to the fracture in his foot. Another unknown with no experience of the championship.
  8. Reflecting on yesterday's trip to The Hawthorns, I have to say that I was hugely disappointed on the whole day out. The M6 was its usual slow crawl. The digital ticketing system didn't work - stewards having to get people in via tickets they seemed to have. I had to go in behind the turnstile and the very helpful, but increasingly fed up steward, got me in via the turnstile operators door. This, after my digital ticket was scanned correctly, but the turnstile refused to co-operate and move as it should. Football clubs and technology really don't seem to mix well. As the for the game it proved to be the very opposite of what I expected. I had hoped we would come out of the gate with high press, high intensity and front foot football. No such luck. It was slow, backwards, sideways passing which never looked like getting the better of a decently organised but very ordinary West Brom outfit. I'll pass comment on the new boys - the first game and all that - but I've always believed that Tyrhys would be a huge loss and yesterday I saw nothing to convince me otherwise. Likewise Callum Brittain, who provided momentum to the attack which was sorely missing yesterday. I've always felt that this season would see us finish in the lower half of the table and nothing I saw yesterday convinced me otherwise. There's no disgrace in that for me. There are a number of decent teams in the Championship with more resources. West Brom had a decent crowd on yesterday and tickets weren't cheap - £27 for an OAP for an afternoon of mediocrity - but it illustrates just what we are up against. Listening to our head coach on the way home suggesting that a winger will be our only future addition to the squad is a worry. We badly need a striker. Yuki, I believe to be an excellent player who links up play and has the required work ethic for that role. However, I don't see him as being a 20 goals a season man. Without signing an additional striker, I think it may be in for a long hard season. The bright spot of the day was that as a traditional club, Albion always do a traditional programme and it's always of the highest standard. Yesterday was no different and this season their programme is celebrating their 125th Anniversary at the Hawthorns, with various features on their wonderful history at that famous old ground. Football is about memories, stories of past players and past glories and this programme is certainly carrying on that tradition in fine style.
  9. He might even end up down the middle as yet. Pace and a bit of power is what defenders hate and he at least has that, whereas Yuki is a penalty box poacher who is a willing worker but slow and can’t hold the play up. Dated I know but a little and large alongside Big Mak, but to be effective the latter needs to improve massively and start winning headers and improving his holding up and use of ball.
  10. Let’s wait and see once Travis is out of the door.
  11. All to save thruppence ha'penny. Baffling.. unless there is a cunning plan* *there isn't.
  12. So we're now so desperate to sell our home grown long standing captain that we are going to have to pay up 2 years of Mafoumbi's contract to get rid of him so that we can open up a slot to allow us to spend more money signing another foreign lad to replace the captain, who may well not be good enough anyway. What a joke of a club. I'm not going to forget the fact that a little over 12 months ago Gestede was doing work experience shadowing Waggott, apparently with a view to a future career as a CEO, and now he's responsible for all recruitment to the club. They've thrown our fate into the hands of a novice.
  13. Yep,that all comes down to quality and we are lacking massively in that department.Route one Rovers?
  14. I still can’t believe we’re swapping Travis; promotion winner, club captain and nearly 250 champ games under his belt for someone who has played 100 games in serie C and D and 30 in a league with similar coefficient to Scotland, who most decry as being tinpot
  15. That's exactly what has gone on the signings are made out of necessity this regime has never 'built' anything they just replace and cobble together. All through Mowbrays tenure barring league one all that ever happened was padding out the squad. The odd bits of investment were and still are just brought in on an individual bases were they think it is a player who can be given games then sold for profit. Every one of these signings now will be stat based and what value they think they can get after 50 to 100 games. Remember Mowbray saying i don't look at the table and not that bothered about results as long as he can see good possession stats and individuals developing ? An utterly bizarre thing to say but born out of the truth because that is the mantra here now.
  16. On the David Webb front - when their players collided and he gave them possession, he allowed their players to stay on the pitch. when Miller went down, off to the side to be called on two tier Webb
  17. The fans sung the Venkys dont care about me chant a number of times.
  18. Wasn’t aware of the shared agent, mafoumbi goes down as another strange signing. The last few seasons I’ve been quietly optimistic as although the ownership and cabal’s a shambles we’ve retained a lot of solid players and had good (not without faults) managers. I personally don’t see VI in the same bracket as JDT and Eustace in terms of quality, throw in to that the loss of quality and experience and the accumulation of relatively unknown players from leagues with a lower standing than the championship and this season is starting to have the feel of the Coyle disaster. This accumulation of unknown players at the behest of the ex player/special advisor makes me very uncomfortable in termS of relationships, etc
  19. Shall we all have a guess what will happen here? * All players below are on pro contracts with the exception of Tyjon who is still a scholar Expiring in 2026 - Kahn, Hyam, Tronstad, Travis, Forshaw, Hedges, Tyjon, Mullarkey-Matthews, Davies, Farkas, Strich, Dlamini, Wood, Boggan Expiring in 2026 but with an option - Honor, Olson, Batty, Duru, Montgomery, O'Grady-Macken, Expiring in 2027 - Pears, Toth, Michalski, Wharton, Carter, Garrett, Buckley, Cantwell, Kargbo, Leonard, Edmondson, Doherty, Expiring in 2027 but with an option - Barrett, Goddard, Pickering, McLoughlin, Ribeiro, Gueye, Ohashi, Litherland, Houghton, Powell, Mafoumbi Expiring in 2028 - O'Riordan, Tavares, Expiring in 2028 but with an option - Atcheson, Miller, Alebiosu, De Neve Expiring in 2029 - Expiring in 2029 but with an option - Henriksson
  20. Exactly. It's was nasty cut to the head Baradji is Travis replacement
  21. Agreed. Don't think he's a good manager at all.
  22. Thought the defence did well and Toth kept us in the game i don't think it's wrong to say if Pears was in there we are beaten soundly. Angry at the silly passing it around under pressure at the back rearing its ugly head again That will cost a needless goal soon enough, cut it out it doesn't make great footballers out of average ones it just causes steady ones to dither.. Football wise and attacking wise i thought we were crap the pressing was pedestrian and passing/shape disjointed for most of it. At least Kargbo has a go and provides an outlet i think if we started him yesterday he puts WBA on the backfoot from the off whereas instead they took early control. In the end couldn't have moaned at a draw if we pinched it but overall probably a fair result and i think this new look side is going to take a while to find its feet. You can feel the undercurrent of concern in the fans who were rather subdued imo given the number there and the lid will come off guaranteed up we don't get a few wins under our belts.
  23. Very rarely will chaddy entertain criticism of the Club.
  24. If you dont think that was clear penalty then you are totally and utter clueless. You're embarrassing yourself I'm not doing another Hedges debate with you AGAIN FFS. Move on and stop shit stirring RF99. We need a right sided attacking midfielder in. Thought you agree. Then replacing any players that leave whether that Travis, Pears or Buckley He played 2 weeks ago so is he fit or not? I dont know what the scans show
  25. If Kargbo is considered to be our best player we need to understand how to benefit from his pace and crossing (which was awful yesterday). Maybe play him on the right wing to get to the byline and pull the ball back rather than beating the right back and cutting back in?
