I'd quite like the guy who is currently managing Motherwell, but we probably couldn't afford him, and he would probably see it as a step down at this point, sadly. He couldn't be any worse than the usual journeymen or someone from the lower leagues. Motherwell are having a good season. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jens_Berthel_Askou

Disregarding everything that goes on off the pitch in the sad shell of a club we’ve in many ways become; Johnson until the end of the season, then regardless of what division we’re in someone hungry and on an upward trajectory. I’d much rather have an appointment like Mousinho at Portsmouth, (pointing) Keith Andrews at Brentford or for that matter Eustace at Rovers than another Ismaël or Mowbray type.
-
My dream appointment would be Gerrard. I've wanted him for a long time as I can see the potential pay off if it was to go to plan and somewhat our potential version on Vincent Kompany. A way back in for him just down the road from where he wants to be. Lots of ties between the clubs. Would put arses on seats. Would be great for loans. Was amazing at Rangers and is a fiercely competitive winner with a point to prove. His stint in the middle east was clearly for the cash but it would be a great opportunity for him to drag us into something respectable and give himself a shot towards the Liverpool job again. Can't see it happening, merely because they wouldn't have the balls to take him on.

The January 2026 Transfer Window

Oh he'll have ended up here via the usual hidden links for sure and i believe Suhail has similar links. That's why i always think there might be an element of truth in it when people say 'they' want us relegated and they want a cheap league 1 outfit. The 'they' imo isn't the detached ownership it's some or someone in the middle. Every time we have a fire sale then replace with mostly cheaper lesser players it follows the same pattern. Third time now in 15 years and somebody somewhere is getting something out of it. The 'agency' would be able to control everything under less gaze in lge 1 and fill the place to the brim with their low grade crap whilst the owners pay no interest because they are satisfied it's costing them less and the hassle and expectations are halved. -
Valérien Ismaël: Former Head Coach

Because our backroom management are shit, and the people signing the cheques, don’t give two shits, and/or just want to cut their expenditure. All very different to some weird fascination with the backroom / owners loving what the manager was getting out of us because “dumbing down”, and would never sack him of course. -

I keep letting you get away with this selective stupidity to avoid embarrassing you. I've had enough. Lets nip it in your little bud. When Eustace left you got all hissy and upset when i suggested he left simply for an extra 15k a week. It really upset you for some really weird reason. He left in February. Three months before the end of last season. Who in their right mind would predict results for the following season???? Certainly not me. So either put up or shut up. Show me these posts you keep referencing in my name. And when you can't, have the courtesy to apologise. Why you constantly insist on being the class clown i have absolutely no idea. -
Well And Scott Parker will be available soon...

If he should have been sacked weeks ago then why wasn't he? -

JHR we’ve had these discussions plenty of times over the years, you have this way of weaving the worst case scenario, and when (like this afternoon) it’s proven to be way off, you just move goalposts. I’ve grown tired of intervening with any comment and it’s rare that even read your posts these days (taken the advice of our resident mod mate to just scroll on), but I just found it poetic today that the first post that sat on top of my feed when texts of “vals gone” came through my phone, where JHR attempting his regular attempt to convince everyone in your familiar tone, that the powers that be are “happy with Ismael”. Response to being wrong on that? He walked away because of a bust up… despite the fact he should’ve been sacked weeks ago. -
Rovers next manager
Armchair supporter supremo replied to Tom's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Im at the point where i couldn't care less... if we sign someone that does well(initially) they'll be gone when they realise what an amature hour circus it is and that come the transfer window he won't get any players that he actually wants, no serious money will be spent and his best players will be sold without him having any say in the matter. And if we get someone that does shit from the off it will just be more time wasted and negativity around the place until they're eventually potted Likely we'll get someone bang average... just good enough to earn a bit of respect, but not good enough to safe us from relegation -

My wish certainly isn't Mowbray but it's a more logical choice than Duff to anyone who actually stops and thinks about it for 3 seconds. -
I'd take russell Martin in a heartbeat. He plays great football and is a real philosopher Kidding

Saying someone is a "sentimental" choice is saying they're a bad choice which is clouded by sentiment so effectively they're agreeing with you. BTW your pre season prediction we'd finish above Derby and "greedy" Eustace is looking worse by the week. -
Understand the sentiment and yes we've fallen far but our history and what we can offer in terms of structural set-up and potential far outweighs Stockport. Do you think Alex Neil would stay at Millwall if offered West Ham?

But it's ok to criticise Henriksson for struggling whilst being played out of position? Ok. -

I think you're being very harsh on JH. No-one's banged on more than me about Ismael needing to be replaced but when I went to bed in the early hours of this morning I had no idea it was going to happen. I HOPED it was getting an increasingly odd look for Gestede and Pasha not to sack him but I didn't REALLY believe it would happen. Perhaps you'd better let me have the Euromillions numbers for tomorrow night with your enhanced psychic powers! 🙂 -

Im not sure if it's incompetence or something else, the prior links of Gestede working with Steve Kean? If I'm not mistaken? -

Ah ok, so anyone with any link to Rovers is purely a sentimental choice? Mowbray has enjoyed two promotions in 20+ years. I don't want his boring rhetoric and inane ramblings all over again. Henning Berg is statistically our worst ever manager. Weird reference. Ainsworth? Please. Anyway, you might get your wish. Mowbray 2/1 favourite. -
I’m not convinced he’d even leave Stockport for us at the moment. That’s how far we’ve fallen! They are only about 8 places behind us.

Yes it seems like the whole Gestede thing was another cost cutting exercise in prep for Waggot retiring. Telling the clowns in India we'll both go on a course then do Steve's job between us. Just like the old we'll revamp the squad, rake in a load of money, spend a fraction and slash the wage bill. We are now the best example in the division of you get what you pay for and reap what you sow. -

My instinct would be to question the motives of his employers. Were they happy for him to underperform so long as he towed the line? If so, why? -

JHRover replied to DE.'s topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
I'm not even sure that was my position but hey ho. I agree that he was terrible, I'm sure I've posted at various times that he shouldn't have got the job in the first place and certainly should have gone much earlier than this. I don't think Ismael himself was a deliberate gear in operation dumb down, I think I said that I expected them to keep him in place because he was doing just what they wanted which is getting on with doing the job quietly whilst they stripped the squad bare. I think until very recently that was the case. It seems in the last few days or weeks that has changed. Nixon says that there was a bust up over recruitment which fits with Ismael's 'complicated' comment on Saturday and taken with the fact that the two before him both left for non-results based reasons suggests he might have gone for similar reasons than just him being a poor manager. Anyhow, I'm pleased that after 'decades' you've finally found the 'proof' you needed that the 'spiel' I've been 'spewing' is shite. I'm sure a potential sacking of Ismael - not described as such by the club - proves that everything else I've said going back 'decades' is shite. -
Name I heard tonight - heard sufficient to stick a few quid on him. Agree, underwhelming but taken Stockport from National League to top 6 Division 1 in under 5 years (not dissimilar to Parkinson with Wrexham but without the big backing). Under contract but wouldn't break the bank in compensation. If the worse comes to the worse this season, we'd have a lower league 'specialist' at the helm. Understand he's under very serious consideration.
-
Hearing on radio Lancashire Nixon suggesting Souness till the end of the season and then a rovers fan agreeing but saying it would be a “pipe dream”. What on earth goes through peoples heads????
-
The fact that there is no sign of a replacement suggests the falling out rumour may well have legs. They didn't expect to be looking for a new coach.
