  1. Past hour
  2. Beaten by Cheadle Town Stingers. Wonder how long it'll be before similar ignominy is being heaped on the mens' side?
  3. There is a report on the website ‘Reflecting on the match, new Rovers head coach James Mallett said: “I am incredibly proud of the team.Considering we’ve only had three sessions together and one friendly in just 15 days’ Sounds like something out of the newsletter of Lammack Juniors or whoever, not a side that was one promotion away from the Women’s Super League a few months ago… and that’s me doing a disservice to the organisation of Lammack Juniors.
  4. Maybe not......although I wonder if anyone has told them how much income we'd lose if we went down yet.
  5. We'll have to agree to disagree on whether VI is fully "in on it" or happy or unhappy. Just as a point of order though that bit is definitely incorrect if RG is to be believed, he's clearly said any sales do not affect the transfer budget. At the time I think he was put on the spot by Eddie asking a very tricky and pertinent question about why we didn't capitalise on a temporary improvement in our FFP position due to all the sales. So with English not being his first language and being under pressure to produce an answer he might have blurted out something that wasn't 100% accurate. In the absence of any clarification to the contrary though that would seem to be the position.
  6. the journey brentford have had in the last 10 years is fantasy stuff for their long suffering fans, the club has spent the majority of it`s life in the bottom two divisions, now they have spent 3 seasons in the top flight and have a spanking new ground,no wonder they are all happy and forgiving
  7. Much as it was a horror last ten minutes against Birmingham I think we should select the same side. It looked defensively solid until the subs. Not much going forward but I can't really see what changes in the XI we would make to address that. One small adjustment I would make is to swap Kargbo and Ohashi round from time to time. Let Kargbo sit on the last man and roam around. I guess the downside is the ball could not stick, even more so than with Ohashi, but I would like to see the speed demon free to run through the middle. Rotating Ohashi and Kargbo frequently in the game could be quite effective in unsettling the defenders and making them unsure whether to push up (to compress Ohashi) or drop deep (to prevent the ball over the top to Kargbo).
  8. Wont make a ripple back at Pune Towers..they dont give a shyte.
  9. I visited the Brentford forum to gauge the mood and was surprised to find the majority optimistic and happy with Keef in charge, even after the weekend. They really seem to trust their decision makers, even if from the outside it looks like lunacy.
  10. That format makes sense for the NFL. There can be something 'big' happening in a game every 5 mins or so. Be that a touchdown/field goal or a massive play that takes a team 50/60 metres down the field. The highlights, jumping from game to game structure works. Different in football. It's all about being engrossed in the ebb and flow of the game from end to end. See the match yesterday, after Arsenal's goal how many highlights were there. The odd Cunha run, penalty shout, and a good save from. Raya from a header. Slim pickings for a Red Zone format. I still enjoyed the match tho.
  11. 3 shots on target in two league games, I believe. Roughly 85 consecutive minutes across both games where we didn't register a single shot. You notice now people are saying we're decent and doing OK just because we aren't getting hammered. It's brutal.
  12. It's a mixture of both. We don't create anywhere near enough chances, nor do we have anywhere near enough decent attacking options to either make the most of the few chances we do create, or, create something themselves.
  13. Obviously, we're speculating so can't say definitively either way, but I'm seeing it differently. I don't think he is in on anything. I could be wrong, but I think the carrot of Premier League football in the near future is dangled before players and managers to get them in the building. I think this might have happened with Ismael too. He is here expecting us to make a push for Premier League football at some point. I don't believe he has come here just to develop players and stay in the League. He'll have known we don't have the budget of others, but I think the sell was: our aim is to become a trading club, sell players on and reinvest to become a Premier League club. This is what Gestede has been spouting in numerous interviews as being "the plan". Somebody has likely told Gestede this is the plan, in my view. Gestede might genuinely believe the aim is to become a Premier League club again, if indeed that is what he has been told. However, Broughton also believed this to be the case. JDT also believed this. Both were repeatedly saying "sustainable Premier League club", for a reason. Look at the recent minutes though. Pasha initially stated face to face to the fans that the owners' aim was to have a "sustainable club". He did not mention "Premier League". However, in the edited version that was amended, somebody added on "with the aspiration to become a Premier League club" to that comment. Are these token words? If you truly believe in something and have it as a genuine aim, it rolls off the tongue when somebody asks you. Right? So why did "Premier League club" not roll off Pasha's tongue before the fans forum? Is Pasha really interested in reaching the Premier League? I think the last few years give us some indication on that. The new players who have come in are all talking about the Premier League and how they want to play in it, in their interviews with Rovers TV. It's likely they are of the belief, just like Gestede and Ismael, that the aim is to become a Premier League club again soon Not a big budget, but clever recruitment and management on the pitch can take us up. I think this has appealed to Ismael. He is probably frustrated with how things are going transfer wise, but it looks like he believes this is a transition period and that things will ease up. He said shortly after a few of the experienced players left something along the lines of "we've moved into the transition stage quicker than expected, but we'll get on with it...". I hate to break it to you, Val... I don't think he is happy with the lack of activity. IMO, 'transition' might be what is standing in the way of him doing a JDT/Eustace for the time being.
  14. What sort of chances ? Half chances like the one Ohashi had at West Brom ? How many chances have we missed this season where you could honestly say - “ That was a sitter, I could have scored there “ ? Hardly any. At the moment don’t make enough real chances, that is unarguable.
  15. Sky is totally reliant of the Premier League and the Premier League is totally reliant on TV money from Sky, TNT Sports and foreign broadcasters. Meanwhile, clubs like United can make people on minimum wage redundant whilst paying players millions of pounds every year. Football in this country is a mess. Look at Morecambe, look at Sheffield Wednesday, look at what happened to famous old club like Bury. The authorities don't care as long as the money keeps rolling in. Eventually, I suspect, there will come a point when it will all implode.
  16. Today
  17. Rovers Women lost 2-0 to Cheadle Town Stingers in their opening league match. I haven't seen anything mentioned about this from Rovers.
  18. We’re under a fee and wage restriction.
  19. Just think, we can be told about how 'we can't compete' with clubs like Bolton, Wigan, Huddersfield, Luton and Cardiff. Have any of you seen how many people live in those places compared to Blackburn with Darwen?
  20. If we go down we ain’t coming back.
  21. Both Hull and Sheffield Wednesday are now under a "fee restriction" rather than a full embargo, Pretty sure "fee restrictions" only impact transfer/compensation/loan fees, not what wages they can offer https://www.efl.com/governance/embargoes/
  22. So despite Suhail claiming otherwise at the FF - there's no sign of Lowe anywhere? Im assuming this is Glen's "Court Case" he keeps alluding to. If it's not him no doubt he can correct me.
  23. I’m not knocking the NFL (not my cup of tea, but each to their own). But obviously the disingenuous way Sky are advertising these extra games is on the back of the NFL ‘red zone’ or whatever it’s called.
  24. Who by about December didn't want to be here either.
