Some 15 months ago, I wrote a tribute to my beloved Dad who had passed away due to complications from, " vascular dementia, old age and fragility ", which proved cathartic in my grieving process . Sadly, I can now complete the story ... On Sunday 24th August, neither my two sisters or I were able to contact our Mother at her home in Clitheroe. All of us had rung her in the morning, but as it was usually the time she would be dressing, we were not too concerned. However, I'd been unable to speak to her by 12.30am, and with my sister's being away on long arranged engagements, I drove over to find Mum unresponsive, aged 89 in her home. The " 999 " operator requested me to start CPR, but after a moment's thought, I declined, having witnessed her sign a " DNR " form some years previously. The Emergency services team arrived a few minutes later and were wonderfully supportive. They confirmed that Mum had passed peacefully some time previously, as she would have wished, in her own home, without lengthy & debilitating hospital stays, or ending her time in a Residential facility ... Mum had met my Dad at an " Inter-School " 6th Form Dance in 1953, in Nottingham ... They dated until he left in 1954 to do his National Service ( Royal Signals, Egypt & Cyprus ), and she to start her Nursing training at Westminster Hospital, London . Dad then took up a Choral Scholarship at Cambridge University whilst reading Engineering, ( Think the BBC's " Carols at King's " broadcast each Christmas Eve ), whilst she continued her Nursing, treating Clement Attlee, amongst others ... They married on the 5th September 1959, one of 5 marriages conducted at Dad's Parish Church that day, & honeymooned in Devon for a whole week ! Dad had lost his Father at 7, killed trying to rescue people out of the Rolls Royce Engine factory in Derby during a German bombing raid in 1943, and having seen his mother work two jobs to support her family, was determined that his wife should not have to work, after having children. He worked 3 jobs, including overnight weekend shifts at a petrol station, to save a deposit for their first home .. I came along in 1963, my sister in January 1966, and later, January 1973, my baby sister, her " Autumn Leaf " ... Mum was caring, thoughtful, generous and a fabulous Cook ... above all, she was a font of good advice and common sense ... my wife of 36 years adored her as did her two sons-in-law ... When our son married 6 years ago, my wife said she would treat Mum as the ideal Mother-in-Law template " Helpful, thoughtful, generous .. but never one to interfere ! " .. In writing this , I'm acutely aware that we were all so fortunate to have both parents with us for so long, and so many of our friends and contempories were not so blessed ... God bless, Mum !!

Venkys Dreadful owners video
SuperBrfc replied to The Dutch couch's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Welcome, The Dutch Couch. Pleased to see you here. I've been watching your channel for a while and enjoy the range of football topics you cover. Keep up the good work. Thanks for making this video on our situation. The more the football community brings the spotlight onto those who run clubs abysmally, the better, in my view. It's exactly as you have said in your video regarding this hideous ownership. They have dragged an established Premier League Club down, they have lowered the standards, they have killed fan expectation, they have shown no remorse and not made one attempt in the past 12 years to return Blackburn Rovers to the Premier League. Even to this very day, they are displaying that they have learnt nothing. You may be aware...that we finished 7th last season, only just missing out on the play offs. You'd think we'd be in a good position to kick on from that, bring in a few additions to strengthen that side and try to go up, right? Well, they have only gone and ok'd the dismantling of that side, which has seen a load of experience from that team leave the building and be replaced by cheap, foreign punts instead. Why would anybody take such a risk? All overseen by their chief yes man on the ground here, who has been a constant presence throughout the decline, making key decisions at the club when he has zero footballing background and knowledge. Mention him in the press though and you're out, just like Jon Dahl Tomasson did (he was too good for these bastards anyway, he could walk away though...we can't) They've got their latest mouthpiece now telling the local press that "we're in transition, it's going to take time, we need to build foundations to reach the Premier League" and that those who are being negative are just a small group of fans trying to cause division. Are they having a f£$king laugh or what? We've been waiting 13 years mate, 10,000 fans walked away in disgust at the way relegation occurred in 2012 and due to the people the owners had advising them. Fan protests were ignored despite on pitch events showing the world we were right to complain. We were made out to be the villains as a fanbase by the press and an attempt was made to paint us out as being racist by a scum element. Many more fans have walked away in the years since due to how the club is ran. As you have displayed, it is no surprise to proper football fans and football people as to why Rovers fans want these owners gone. Anything other than us wanting our club back and wanting to see people who care about it in charge of it, is nothing but agenda driven garbage. We had Tony Mowbray in 2018 tell us "we need to slowly build towards promotion and put the foundations in place first". We had a Director of Football, Gregg Broughton, tell us in 2022 that we "need to put foundations in place for promotion and that it takes time". We've now got Rudy Gestede saying the same in 2025! You couldn't make this shit up. I'm reminded of Thierry Henry's response when he was asked about Arteta building something at Arsenal, just a few weeks back on The Overlap. He said "Whoa whoa, hang on, that must be a pretty big building by now, it must be pretty big, right?". Same applies here. This 'building' lark is, IMO, claptrap to buy time and just like Thierry, just like yourself, me and a lot of Rovers fans on here...we see through the crap. It's arse covering for shit owners and managers in reality. We were supposed to be building in 2018 as per Mowbray, so why now in 2025 are we still needing to put foundations in place for promotion? It's a load of hogwash, in my view. It has been an awful last 15 years for many of us seeing this unfold at our club. We have watched our club become a shell of what it once was, an impostor. This is Blackburn Rovers in name only and has been for a long time. The likes of Rudy Gestede have no idea about the true Blackburn Rovers. He played here during the Venky shit show and thinks we are unhappy with the owners because we want to see a repeat of 1995 and want massive money being spent! He had the nerve to say being mid table in the Championship is "not that down", when a journalist asked him about how far down Blackburn had fallen under Venky's. From being mid table in the Premier League in 2010 to mid table in the Championship today and being a right state. All under Venky's watch and it's "not that down" apparently. Piss off. Talk about clueless. Talk about naive. These are the people running our club. You're spot on in saying that the heart and soul of the club has gone. We are hoping something can turn around, but we know deep down it is a forlorn hope under this lot...nothing is changing for the better until we are rid of Venky's and their minions. Sad to say though, there are plenty in the fanbase suffering from Stockholm Syndrome...who say nonsense like "where would we be without Venky's" (Ha, I'll let you answer that one) and "be grateful they pay the bills, it could be a lot worse, look at Bury, Wigan and Bolton". They have forgotten who they support and what this club was before Venky's. The club's identity has been lost. Just as you put it. Very sad to witness and hear. A change of ownership here would be massive for anybody who has any feeling for the club, for the whole town, for the surrounding local areas. We desperately need it as a club. We have been numb for a very long time as followers of this football club, with plenty putting on a brave face and trying to find positivity wherever they can. That positivity has never been rewarded, but I don't blame those fans for that. It's not their fault what has happened since 2010. Oh and just on Eustace...spot on again. You, as a neutral, can see that him leaving for relegation zone Derby speaks volumes as to the issues here. Unfortunately, said fans above have turned on Eustace for leaving, labelling him a 'snake' a 'greedy bastard' and more. They even took inflatable snakes to Derby to goad him and will be doing so again this season when Derby come to Ewood and we play them at their place. I don't like to say it, but for me, the game has gone for now at this club, mate. Acting like a development club and being happy to let players move on is not what football is about. The game is about winning. We should be doing everything possible to go up. This club and our fanbase sparks back into life the minute Venky's and their hangers on depart. I cannot wait for that day. Thanks, once again. -

I agree the quality is the issue 100% if miller is needed in both it would mean that Carter atcheson one of Wharton McLaughlin and TGH alebiosu are all injured - it’s unlikely it’s fair that your preference is to have 2 natural players for every position I still think 26/27 players for 11 man game is more than enough but will bring it back to what Iv outlined at the start it’s the lack of quality that’s the issue for me…..to date anyway -

I disagree personally on the numbers but my main point was that I dont agree with signing 1 player to cover 2 positions. You still need 2 bodies for 2 positions. If one of those can also cover another position, it can provide extra emergency cover or more flexibility in game which is an added skill, but it doesnt compensate. Miller might be needed at RB and CB at the same time, so it will mean a second player has to be moved around. I dont think our squad is big enough. I suppose numbers and actually viable quality for our first team. Montgomery is a good example, regardless of where he plays for the Scotland under 21s, he isnt good enough at Championship level for either role. Forshaw isnt good enough. Gueye isnt good enough. -

Sorry if this has already been answered but is Bradford the only time Lewis Miller has played centre back in a back four in his professional career? My trawl through transfermarkt and Footmob seems to suggest so -

Can see another clear out next summer, Ohashi, Toth, Cantwell, Gueye, McLoughlin, Kargbo, Pickering, Carter and Scott Wharton will have a year left come the end of the season. Also add Ryan hedges to the list, worrying if we can’t extend Wharton and Hedges contracts with all due respect -

The commercial department must be having a laugh… who buys and wants to wear this stuff? make football merchandise look like something you’d actually want to wear rather than wear when painting/plastering, and decent quality - no gimmicks or big shite logos or poor humour attempts etc… other clubs often do it so much better; things that people will actually wear casually and therefore buy. This is Poundland level crap -

VI is being either delusional or dishonest in saying that this summer's dire contracts situation will not be repeated next summer. As long as this apparent £10k pw wage cap is in place, players with currently less than 2 years remaining will not extend. So next summer it's goodbye to Cantwell, Carter, Toth, Kargbo as well as Tyjon, Tronstad and Hedges. No worries then. -

The lad from Birmingham will cover RB and CM. Miller will cover RB and CB. He looks like Carter at RB to me - a big, strong, lanky athlete (i.e. a CB playing RB). -

Bayes is probably not aware of the latest hearing would be my guess. Think Wilesden has summarised it as the need to provide a guarantee when sending funds over has been removed and the maximum they can be fined is £7.7m No doubt he'll correct me if Im wrong. -

Sorry about this, I don't think I understand! Is this Court mullarkey over and done with following the removal of the guarantee condition? Is that the end of it? Or is there more Court shenanigans to follow? And if so when? Reason is that I've just listened to Andy Bayes talking on line and he gave the impression that this was still ongoing. Alongside that absolutely nothing has been reported about it in the local press (with apologies if I've missed it). Thanks again Wilsden or indeed anyone else who can clarify.
