  1. Past hour
  2. Mowbray rebuilt Rovers and did an excellent job, I think Wilder is crazy for going back again but its his club so that's probably why
  3. Why would they want to appoint Mowbray, if they want to get promoted?
  4. Wilder is crazy going back there. I think they should have gone Mowbray personally
  5. https://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/news/greater-manchester-news/breaking-ricky-hatton-46-found-32473021.amp Just been announced that Ricky Hatton has died, absolutely gutted at that news…..
  6. It is looking there is a lot of dross in the league , when are Sheffield Wednesday going to get a points deduction ?
  7. Obviously we are basing opinions both positive and negative very early on here, as its all we have to go on. For example, Gudjohnsen on a promising half an hour. But it appears a mixed bag. Gestede also comes across unprofessionally and arrogantly. Alebiousu, Morishita, McLaughlin and Miller to varying degrees also appear promising additions. But equally, he has signed a player out injured for months and also De Neve and Henriksson have appeared to be well off the standard so far. Tavares has also really struggled. But obviously the main issue has been the abject inability to hold on to any of our existing important players, with pathetic offers of the same wage and just an extra year. I suppose he isnt the main person to blame for that but Broughton managed it.
  8. Today
  9. ACD scored a really good goal here and a couple in friendlies I recall, the lad clearly had some talent but was missing in action too often in this league
  10. There were almost 1000 in attendance which is about the average I think. As usual they were vocal which was appreciated by the players and staff. Edited to add this.
  11. An early assessment of the season so far is that the majority of our new signings are pretty good and more than capable at this level. We are not as bad as we think and look to be on course for a mid table finish. Lots of dross in this league and certainly looks to be 3 worse teams than us. Goals and creativity remain a concern so scoring the first goal in games will be crucial.
  12. If you'd offered me Rovers sandwiched between Ipswich and Southampton after 5 games at the start of the season...
  13. My personal litmus test is - have I got a CD of theirs ? In this case no. There are and have been loads of truly brilliant musical acts out there that I just don’t get. Stevie Wonder, Queen, that’s just two more off the top of my head. You either like them or you don’t.
  14. Respectable turnout but below our usual Saturday afternoon standards i'd suggest especially after a two week break. For context we took several hundred more there last season for a 12.30 kick off game so i'd say there has definitely been a knock on effect from this window. Before yesterdays result the anger and disillusionment was still rather obvious.
  15. Our 2 wins have been away from home - does that tell us something about the way Ismael has set the team up and wants Rovers to play? Until this new team of misfits and poundshop bargains can show it can win at home too I see yesterday as a welcome 3 points in what is going to be a long hard battle to stay in this division this season.
  16. The first record is brilliant, after that it's all a bit bland and boring for me.
  17. It was quite surreal, sat in a church pew, drinking alcohol and watching a rock band in a church but a great way to raise revenue for said church. Harry Redknapp is doing an evening with next month. I'm sure it won't be a "Sportsman's Dinner" type evening with it being in a church, more gentle and funny anecdotes and a Q+A session. I won't be going. πŸ˜‚
  18. For me playing Ohashi as a No 9 is similar to us trying to play Simon Garner as a No 9. He’d give it a good go but he’d be way better playing off another striker. As he was. Unfortunately nobody plays that way anymore.
  19. Great win and performance all round πŸ† On the itv highlights show, although we weren't last on, we had the shortest and poorest quality video of the game. Do they get footage from the Rovers end or do itv send their own cameras?
  20. The Rovers fans didn't seem as numerous as usual? Is that fair comment? Any particular reason? I always celebrate when we win, I know of no other way. But the reality of where we are heading soon comes back to haunt me.
  21. Ohashi is getting better at shielding the ball, much improved overall this season but needs more goals. TGH was able to direct from midfield and is strong in the tackle. Ideal from the bench or if Tronstad is injured or suspended. Great to see shots from outside the box.
  22. Wilder returning to Bramall Lane , you cannot script football !
  23. When we win it makes my weekend. If we lose my weekend is ruined. I have a tee shirt from β€œ Philosophy Football β€œ which has a quote ( alledgedly from Henrik Ibsen, that famous Scandanavian international ) in big letters on the front, it says - β€œ If the game is lost your earthly life is WASTED β€œ. That sums it up for me. For a short period of time I can forget all about the Chicken Chokers.
  24. The Scott Wharton thing brought genuine joy, as we watched on TV... And I ended up telling my offspring about the League Liner and a previous away win at Watford with goals from Endean, Napier and Field... Over 50 years ago!!
  25. If he keeps it up, I imagine Brighton will recall him and loan him to a championship club...Will be interesting to see how he copes.
