I spent my career in marketing communications and a large chunk of that in measuring and improving their effectiveness, and this breaks the most basic rule of all that was drummed into me 45 years ago as a young Assistant Brand Manager: never forget that you aren’t your target market - it’s not about you liking it, it’s about people who don’t agree with you liking it. And this video is preaching to the choir. The target market is people not currently inclined to boycott. Yet this video talks only to “we”. “We marched” “We aren’t being listened to” etc. The people who need to be persuaded aren’t currently part of that “we”! There’s also no rationale that would persuade. Why now? What would happen if there was a near total boycott? How will this make a difference in a way that could overcome someone’s scepticism? I had a boss whose favourite criticism of ads was, “This is a pissing in your pants ad.” Gives you an warm feeling but leaves only a mess.

What a truly heartfelt subject by many people. I feel exactly the same way. I've told my history on here several times so I'll keep this short. Like Tyrone Shoelaces on page one I don't think I'll live to see the day that we are Venky-free. He's 76 and I'm 82. I hope my son and grandson see it. When watching that awful match against Sheff Wed at Hillsborough I envied the Wednesday supporters because there is light at the end of their tunnel. They are in purgatory. We seem to be in eternal hell.
