He could be infuriating at times but you couldn’t fault his effort. It’ll be interesting to see if they can coach the faults in his game out of him, if they do they’ll have a good player on their hands. He was always going to be a better bet than BBD because his willingness to work 100%.
-
Maybe he struggled with where he was being asked to play, and by that I mean England

Yeah, thought the same myself. It's generally a decent listen, if you can get past the 'fought' (thought) and 'fink' (think) from the LET lad. The second guy, with the southern accent, is a bit annoying though. He tries to use words and phrases that he doesn't actually understand and he'll flip-flop entirely at the slightest challenge of his opinion. The Blackburn End pod is slightly better, though one of them constantly refers to Birmingham as 'the blues'. As a Rovers podcast, you'd expect 'the blues' to be in reference to Rovers. I'm a petty, petty man. -

We've got a yellow weather warning in the Ewood area, for this coming weekend - whatever a 'yellow weather warning' entails. -
Valérien Ismaël: Blackburn Rovers Head Coach
Andy replied to DE.'s topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Yeah, JDT's 'flaw' was not having the quality of players to work with, who could execute his style of play. That said, a few players developed hugely under him. And a few others spoke very highly of his coaching ability and tactics (Szmodics, Wharton, etc). Had he been backed in the transfer window (Undav / O'Brien), we'd have returned to the Prem. -
Got another goal tonight in a 2-1 win.

He is 23 so plenty of opportunity to iron out his weaknesses and build on his strengths. Liga football could well be more suited to him than the Championship. Brilliant to see his great start - let's hope he can keep this going.

Weather is looking awful, let's hope there's no late cancellation again. I fancy a 1-1 draw with Gudjohnsen starting and netting on his way to 15 goals before January and a £10m move to Southampton -

The Arte Et Labore pod is mental with it. Was absolutely shocked to hear the change in views on that podcast that came out Monday. -
Mm, get some good reading matter in, thst could be a very long wait.

Well in terms of Rovers yes -ie standard MO of messing a player about and being economical with the truth. -
I agree with you. He was competent but had many faults, just like most Championship players. I watch very little Spanish football, but it is slower and less physical than the English game. Both these aspects will suit Dolan as I felt that oftentimes he was not physically up to it. It is very early on though, he might be on the outs come Christmas. Or he could be the next Vinny Samways. I'd have thought that if Dolan was "good" another English team would have taken him. I don't think Espanyol would have been a club that was on his radar in June. We will never know though. Anyway, he's gone, probably never to return. I'll await the time when de Neve reaches Dolan's level instead.

We can only judge and gauge off what we see on the pitch and hear in interviews, social media etc but even given that some still have odd takes on certain players for some reason. Think everyone would agree he was frustrating but still had potential to be better and when he was good he was good. As long as he doesn't end up at that lot up the road i wish him nothing but as much success as possible as at least he didn't hide and run his contract out like some other A holes.

In answer to your two questions. Yes, when Venkys took over at the Rovers, I thought it was a good appointment. Now I have changed my opinion. On the second question, no I have never heard of backfire effect.

Valérien Ismaël: Blackburn Rovers Head Coach
roverblue replied to DE.'s topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
JDT was out his depth in the championship, massively naive and just tried to outscore the opposition regardless of their quality. Made for some entertaining performances but also some total disasters. Unless he was given two incredible centre backs the quality of Van Dijk it was never going to work. Ismael I still think will be gone once we get a few injuries and bad results pile up with our squad depth so poor. He seems a bit too fiery and mental to just stand in an interview and keep his mouth shut. Selling Hyam I imagine massively pissed him off. -

I went to the Bradford game (we should have won it 5-2 with the chances we had) like you say henriksson played badly in that one. Let's hope hes more to offer in future matches. -

I wonder what's the betting at the bookies, Sam Szmodics comes off the bench, and nets the winner. Fingers crossed, hopefully not. -
Another case of playing a player in a position that suits his skill set best. Funny how his new club had it figured out pretty sharpish.

I went to the Bradford cup game at Ewood and he was awful. I didn't see any feature that looked promising, physically or technically. Early doors I guess and he may improve, but didn't look promising to me. I dont think hes placed since that game? -
Fair play to him... when he ran down his contract on a free I don't think anyone - even his biggest fans - would have said he'd get a crack at the top leagues. He seemed a good championship player, but not much more than that . It's another in quite a few who we have written off only to be surprised. I think the main thing to take away is supporters generally (myself included) are not actually that good at judging the quality of players.
