2025 Summer Transfer Thread. 😂

But they are owned by one of the top 10 wealthiest groups of people in the Championship. Who've shown they can easily underwrite enough losses to make the club compete with those outside the parachute money but from bigger catchment area's. However their reluctance to employ higher calibre people and install enough ambition and foresight in running the club means crowds remain lower as do income streams outside of player sales. Coupled with long periods of lack of backing leading to further financial problems, off field issues and good players not wanting to stay means they constantly lose ground on similar competitors and renders the whole 'owned by billionaires' model rather pointless. -

If they were serious tickets would be on sale now for the Derby game with every tom, dick and harry associated with the club being sent promotional material, adverts, offers to try and get them back in for such a special occasion. This includes everyone on the database, lapsed season ticket holders, and the general local population of East Lancashire - posters, digital adverts, etc. What we will get is tickets being put on sale 3 weeks before the game at Category A prices with standard 'efforts' made on twitter and Facebook and that's your lot. That they are seemingly expecting to be able to rinse people for hospitality for a 12:30 game against Derby County, suffering the humiliation of our former management team, captain and numerous other players turning up, tells it's own story. - Today

Sorry to hear about your sad loss SC and hope you can treasure the memories you had and that gives you a degree of comfort.

Let’s not forget that in the past, things were a little bit strange when it came to transfers, in the early years of Venkys ownership. The one constant in all that time has been Pasha, so is this the reason we have seen so many transfers, this season. There is still something strange going on and the bullshit that has come out over the last few days, heightens my suspicions. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/article-2030832/Nick-Harris-Agent-paid-1-65m-deal-player-cost-400-000.html -

No, the court case and the investigation are two separate things (albeit the former is only happening because of the latter). The Adjudicating Authority will rule re any fine (max circa £7.7-£8.5 million depending on source of exchange rate used) - I believe they have a year to do so (I’m not sure whether this is from submission of the complaint by the Directorate of Enforcement or from when they then first convene). -

I don't think anyone is worried about Hedges not extending his contract. But agreed on the other bits -

It certainly does, thank you. So, November comes, the worst that could happen is a fine of £7.7m? A drop in the ocean for our billionaire chicken crazed negligent overlords you'd think. Key point being "I don’t see why it matters any more as the various interim orders have allowed Venkys to send monies anyway." - so any talk of November being a significant date - particularly when the case is adjourned again and put back until Feb after the transfer window - would be a little disingenuous as a reason for not providing (transfer) funds. -

I've suspected for a while that their real grievance is with them having to supply the end user certificate. -
Deepest sympathy. Take care.

The investigation into the Venkys has reached the Adjudicating Authority stage who will decide if and what punishment (fine) they’ll receive. The court cases instigated by the Venkys will next be heard in November, the website isn’t currently working so I can’t check the exact date (I think it’s the 12th). As far as I recall (can’t double check as above) they’ll now just be arguing over which version of the relevant law should have applied to the monies mentioned in Venkys original petition to the courts. This mattered as under the preceding version they would’ve had the certificate needed to send monies over but under the new version they did not (as the legislation change included changing which institution issues this certificate). I don’t see why it matters any more as the various interim orders have allowed Venkys to send monies anyway. Maybe they’ll be trying to remove the remaining conditions (having to show the money is used for its stated purpose). I hope that makes sense. -

From Google Gemini: Based on available data, Blackburn Rovers' wage bill is significantly lower than the average for a Championship club. Here's a breakdown of the key points: * Below-average wage bill: For the 2023-2024 season, Blackburn's total wage bill was around £25.4 million. This was well below the Championship average of £38.1 million. * Ranking among Championship clubs: Reports for the 2024-2025 season indicate that Blackburn Rovers' weekly wage bill of £234,000 ranks 17th among the 24 teams in the league. This places them among the lower-paying clubs in the Championship. * Individual player salaries: For context, the average Championship player wage is around £10,000 a week, but top earners at other clubs can make significantly more, especially those with parachute payments from the Premier League. * Impact of financial strategy: Blackburn's financial model appears to be more cautious. Their staff costs, including wages, were the seventh lowest in the league in the 2023-24 season. The club has also generated significant income from player sales, such as the transfer of Adam Wharton to Crystal Palace, which helps offset their expenses. This suggests a strategy of relying on player development and sales rather than high-spending on wages. In conclusion, Blackburn Rovers do not pay the "going rate" in wages for a Championship club if the "going rate" is considered to be the league average. Their wage bill is consistently in the lower half of the division, reflecting a more fiscally conservative approach compared to many of their rivals, particularly those with parachute payments. - Yesterday

Some 15 months ago, I wrote a tribute to my beloved Dad who had passed away due to complications from, " vascular dementia, old age and fragility ", which proved cathartic in my grieving process . Sadly, I can now complete the story ... On Sunday 24th August, neither my two sisters or I were able to contact our Mother at her home in Clitheroe. All of us had rung her in the morning, but as it was usually the time she would be dressing, we were not too concerned. However, I'd been unable to speak to her by 12.30am, and with my sister's being away on long arranged engagements, I drove over to find Mum unresponsive, aged 89 in her home. The " 999 " operator requested me to start CPR, but after a moment's thought, I declined, having witnessed her sign a " DNR " form some years previously. The Emergency services team arrived a few minutes later and were wonderfully supportive. They confirmed that Mum had passed peacefully some time previously, as she would have wished, in her own home, without lengthy & debilitating hospital stays, or ending her time in a Residential facility ... Mum had met my Dad at an " Inter-School " 6th Form Dance in 1953, in Nottingham ... They dated until he left in 1954 to do his National Service ( Royal Signals, Egypt & Cyprus ), and she to start her Nursing training at Westminster Hospital, London . Dad then took up a Choral Scholarship at Cambridge University whilst reading Engineering, ( Think the BBC's " Carols at King's " broadcast each Christmas Eve ), whilst she continued her Nursing, treating Clement Attlee, amongst others ... They married on the 5th September 1959, one of 5 marriages conducted at Dad's Parish Church that day, & honeymooned in Devon for a whole week ! Dad had lost his Father at 7, killed trying to rescue people out of the Rolls Royce Engine factory in Derby during a German bombing raid in 1943, and having seen his mother work two jobs to support her family, was determined that his wife should not have to work, after having children. He worked 3 jobs, including overnight weekend shifts at a petrol station, to save a deposit for their first home .. I came along in 1963, my sister in January 1966, and later, January 1973, my baby sister, her " Autumn Leaf " ... Mum was caring, thoughtful, generous and a fabulous Cook ... above all, she was a font of good advice and common sense ... my wife of 36 years adored her as did her two sons-in-law ... When our son married 6 years ago, my wife said she would treat Mum as the ideal Mother-in-Law template " Helpful, thoughtful, generous .. but never one to interfere ! " .. In writing this , I'm acutely aware that we were all so fortunate to have both parents with us for so long, and so many of our friends and contempories were not so blessed ... God bless, Mum !!
