  1. Past hour
  2. You echo what the big majority of rovers fans think Ian. The feeling is of total despair to what the owners are doing to a club that so many have loved for their entire lives.
  3. As regards Tronstatd, he’s tidy on the ball and passes it well. It’s hard to see anything beyond that. I wouldn’t say he’s a terrier who puts opposition players under any kind of pressure in midfield, I wouldn’t say he’s a terrier who gets close to his midfield opponents. He certainly isn’t any kind of creative player either. In short if I were in the opposition team he certainly wouldn’t scare me. He does what he does relatively well but that’s not a lot.
  4. Fair, obvious answer is Jorgensen I guess. Low bar at the moment. I do tend to disagree with you generally on Tronstad but would agree he's been sub par recently and that as a senior player I expect far more.
  5. Powell, Jorgensen and I thought Atcheson was generally pretty good apart from was it his header out for one of the goals? Apart from that no-one. They were all crap.
  6. May be rose tinted spectacles but there were some very decent players in the 1975 line up. Sir Roger, Burgin as you say very classy, Waddington and Faz, Hawkins,Oates, Metcalfe, Parkes. Remember Mike "The Rock" Hickman who I think came in midway through the season? He'd scare the shit out of the current line up!. Lol
  7. Alan Meyers wants a bob each way I think. Clearly Venkys aligned, hence praising them as "good people", saying nothing of their ability to run a successful a football club, but also thinks they should sell rather than improve how the club is governed and financed. So theyre "good people" who aren't capable of running a professional sporting club? Why not out and say that while you've got your soapbox? And if you think theyre good owners, why should they sell? Which is it?
  8. The almost funny thing is that should/when we go down, 90% of the squad will believe that league 1 is below their ability and try and move on, especially the imports we have taken this season despite their ability being very much league 1 - and below. We don’t have and Charlie mulgrew types in the team. Like I said at the start of the season and was met with criticism, it’s a very unlikeable and distant squad with the fans. Literally none seem to hold much affection with the club and it’s a team of individuals
  9. Who played better than him yesterday Rev? I didn't watch the game, so I'm not trying to catch you out. I'm interested.
  10. Im going to have a rant now and I dont care what people think. Do people just write the above before the game without even watching it? He was absolute dogshit last night, it was the 25 th minute before I even noticed him touch the ball. He then perked up a bit until half time before being useless again in the second half. People tend to say "Oh he's had enough or he's off at the end of the season or he's had enough of the manager's tactics" as if that's some sort of excuse. it isn't. Some or indeed all of the above may be true and that would be understandable in many respects but at the end of the day he's a professional footballer paid to perform. With so many young players in the side we need the senior players like Cantwell, Tronstad and Baradji to stand up and be counted. On the contrary we've had the square root of fuck all out of either of the first two in recent weeks with Baradji only performing in fits and starts seemingly when he feels like it. Yes, the manager needs to go asap. But until he does, our so called better players still need to pull their finger out and put in a genuine shift.
  11. Think Gordon Lee used the proceeds to rebuild - his first four signings were all instrumental in our success: Graham Hawkins was the key one - stole from PNE for circa £20k Andy Burgin a class act at full back from Halifax - think his fee was less than £10k Graham Oates - so influential in midfield and chipped in with goals - circa £15k Ken Beamish - did what he needed as a number 9 for us in the Third Division - circa £25k Happy days - who will ever forget the Ewood promotion clash with Plymouth when Rovers fought back from 2-0 down to run out winners at 5-2. 1975 - promotion was our aim to crown a centenary of fame! 2025 - 150 years on, wonder what the 2025/26 epitaph will be!!!!!!!!!!
  12. Rovers fully deserve relegation this year, that's the only thing that will make it easier. You can't run a club this way and get away with it.
  13. Today
  14. I was thinking about this earlier and it now feels like the MK Dons taking over from Wimbledon. Granted we are still playing in the same town and same stadium, but with Ismael, providing a foil for Gestede, who in turn provides a foil for Pasha, who in turn provides a foil for the owners, who in turn allow agents, players and officials to steal money from the club, we have become Money Laundering FC. MLFC rule whilst BRFC dies.
  15. How many senior players have had their contracts renewed this season? Scott Wharton is the only one I can remember but he's a true Rover and spent the majority of his senior career on the treatment table unfortunately. Ismael is blaming injuries but the game last night was dead and gone and the two subs he made were youth players. Why isn't he letting Ohashi rest for 15-20 mins when he's highly ineffective? Toss Pratt up top, who cares... if we're waiting for everyone to come back from injury in order to be able to win games, Ismael should ensure we don't take maximum risk of suffering further injuries
  16. Very strange player, looks like he has a lot of ability, but generally it never seems to quite come off for him and I can't quite decide whether he's putting it all in or not. I'd be surprised if he's still here next season option or no option.
  17. Would love to but we have zero budget. I have already spent my own money on this campaign.
  18. I agree, although I'm still glad he has gone. Him carrying on for another year or two would not have helped the club in the long run. The day of his retirement was always coming and the collapse we are witnessing now was always coming, best off getting it done and see what comes next than delay it.
  19. Two words - Lewis Travis. I always said he was the heartbeat of the team when we were doing better But according to many he has a sub par scuffler.
  20. Having dealt with Waggott several times I did warn when he left that fans celebrating his departure should be careful what they wished for. He was a canny operator.
  21. It's definitely one of the reasons for economic decline of the area, not sure to what extent, the whole thing is extremely complex and lots of different factors demographic and political factors to consider as well. Having said that, if a town of 110,000 people regularly goes from having 25,000 people doing a specific economic activity in that town reducing down to now around 10,000 people (including away fans) doing that same activity, it's bound to have an impact. That economic activity will be pretty varied as well, spending on public transport, pubs, takeaways, supermarkets and the rest all directly impacted by the fact that 10,000 people are walking past on a match day when it used to be 25,000. Another fantastic gift for the people of east Lancashire from the Venkys
  22. That's fair enough. The sentiment and idea is spot on on if not the execution. Get some properly printed ones up in various strategic spots all over town then.
  23. It does feel increasingly that Waggott was the "glue" holding this wreck together, to the point where we could at least remain in the Championship under Venky's. Unlikely we'd ever have gone up with Waggott at the helm, but he had enough nous to be able to keep a manager and team together who could compete in the division. He was also able to keep the remaining fans going to Ewood onside, even if it meant dragging fans groups down to Ewood for a guilt trip from the "senior committee" of players. This isn't me defending Waggott by any stretch, he was still holding us down in line with the owners' ambition, but since he left it's just been amateur hour on repeat and we're probably now on our way down. There's a good chance we'd still be struggling anyway considering the increasing budget cuts, but if Waggott's got his hands on the wheel I think he probably finds a way to renew at least some of our championship experience. I also think if he had full say he'd have kept Eustace or replaced him with somebody equally pragmatic. I doubt he'd choose Ismael. We'd be doomed to being a zombie club regardless, but the lipstick is truly off the pig at this point.
  24. I did see the first releases earlier today, but my first impressions were that it was an attempt to divert heat away from Pasha. 'See, it's all Rudy this mess, nothing at all to do with me...' We'll see, I guess.
  25. Clearly out social media people have done a lousy job briefing players on how not to wind up fans at the wrong time.
