  1. Past hour
  2. The classic comment of somebody who just doesn't get it.
  3. Rumours of a £65 million price tag in January unless Palace can tie him down to a new deal. But hey, that £18 million.
  4. Damage will be done by Friday's rain. Think back to the Portsmouth game last season.
  5. As the poll inches towards its close, essentially I suspect that if you were old enough then Iley wins this hands down but it’s true that Ince squandered more resources.
  6. Who said he was ‘world class’ at 18/19? Very rare anybody is at that age, especially when in a middling second division side. Obviously it was all about potential. Jason Lowe captained the U20s and had three times as many caps at U21 level than Wharton. Those England coaches/selectors aren’t particularly the arbiter of anything.
  7. You mention it every time ...go back and it mentioned multiple times by you . At the time it was being said it was obvious to anyone that could see that Wharton was a world class talent...obviously not when he wasn't getting selected for any underage level nationally until he made his debut for us and it took a move to the prem for him to get under 21 recognition...I get things like big club bias as the reasoning behind that yet Ash Phillips was captaining his age group. And it was so obvious he was a world class talent to everyone , yet only crystal Palace paid the 18 million for him Iv said many times we shouldn't have sold him, said many times I think he was worth more than we sold him for but I 100% believe there was doubts about him at other clubs and he wasn't being rated as highly externally as he should have been.
  8. Total bollocks. I know people, as many on this board will, who were there when we were spanked 7-1 at Shrewsbury in the 70s , been stood in snowstorm away at Halifax who now don't go because morally they feel such a disconnect between the club and themselves and cannot feel complicit in supporting it (not saying those who do are btw, its individual, plenty are anti regime who attend) So keep your patronising comments, it's nothing to do with the quality of football for majority. We're all Rovers fans, if you choose to go, fine totally understand it and sometimes I wish I still was, but don't make stupid conclusions. We lost thousands of fans in 1960/61 who'd been going years too, suppose they were just fickle?
  9. Did Buckley play much alongside Wharton for the seniors? I think that the experienced Wharton now would’ve really helped Buckley. Maybe it is confirmation bias but when I see a Palace player like Hughes etc. playing the ‘Wharton ball’, that is the quick, simple but forward pass, I think that that is Wharton’s influence. I might be, as I say, confirming my own bias, but nonetheless it must be a joy to play with a player that simplifies the game so effectively.
  10. Today
  11. We need to bring back COME ON THE ROVERS chants
  12. No, I just like to mention such a silly metric that obviously means bugger all.
  13. Do you ever get bored of being childish? Mentioned multiple times by you. Very sad
  14. Even without under 21 caps?
  15. What happened here in the summer of 2012 is not the usual ‘crowds go up and down on success or lack of’. Indeed most clubs that get relegated out the PL don’t actually see much drop off at all. Here? We lost nearly half our ST holders overnight? Why? Because of the insane decision to keep on Steve Kean on the back of 18 months of disgraceful antics from the owners and their ‘representatives’. We’ve never recovered since, not even close, though in reality gates have stayed fairly steady at this new low ‘normal’ (the only anomalies being the Coyle appointment summer - another insane decision they shaved off a couple of thousand more ST holders and the Covid return year where they banged up prices in comparison to most other clubs that reduced them to promote getting back to grounds). Only possible chance to get numbers back is Premier League, or a Bolton style renewal under new ownership and slashed prices - we’ll get neither so let’s plod on to cut number 558.
  16. Iley was the first manager Rovers had that I was brought up on as a seven year old so its a bit vague. Ince was a strange one arrived with a 4-0 win at Everton and it was downhill from there are on in. Ismael started badly and it ain't getting better so if there was option all equally inept, I would vote for that.
  17. TBF 4000Holes was usually so comprehensive that it didn't leave much room for much else to be said. I'll never forget when I got my first copy. It was the now legendary Alan Fettis game. Sat in the riverside and got absolutely piss wrapped in the April (I think) snow.
  18. Attendances do ebb and flow with the sucess on the pitch but there's been a toxicity about the place for the last 15 years that's caused a large number to leave and not return. Shit performances are not the reason why so many have walked away to not return. Shit performances are not the reason why the attendance has dropped from 25000+ to scratching 15000 on the best of days. We just sold off the spine of a team that finished 7th to replace them with cheap nobodies. Anyone who didn't think this had a high chance of ending up in a total disaster is quite simply thick as pig shit. The fact those in power chose to do this, rather than strengthen and bolster the squad to have a solid crack at promotion is the reason why so many have turned their back on the club. This is just one more thing in an endless list of similar things that have happened over the last 15 years. Remember only a few months ago when our manager left whilst we were in 6th place to join a club in the relegation zone? You don't get people pledging 'Not A Penny More' because of some bad results. You get that when the heart and soul has been ripped out of the club and those responsible arrogantly deflect all responsibility for this onto others.
  19. Yesterday
  20. Unless he name checks Suhail in a post match rant of course.
  21. Fans stop going due to lack of success not because of who owns the club. In Rovers case, the ownership has clearly resulted in the lack of success but had we somehow been successful under Venkys the fans would not have turned their backs. Most Rovers fans, whether they attend or not still want the club to do well.
  22. Ah, so you completely miss the point as per usual. People haven't stopped going because of shit football. It's all the other bullshit that's been going on for 15 years.
  23. Even neutrals are touting him around for 100million now.
  24. Shearer, Jansen, Tugay, Pedersen
  25. Theyve definitely downgraded though. Forest do have a strong side that theyve massively bolstered this summer.
  26. Morishita reminds me of a very very poor Scott Sellars.
  27. Actually, it could be another Fulham, we are devoid of everything you need to be a proper Professional football club!
