This is exactly it. Gudjohnsen just had that striker's instinct. He knows where to be and the movement needed to get there. Gallagher simply does not have this, and he'll never be a proper goalscorer as a result. Mowbray shunted him out on the right to try and make use of his work ethic, but even then his technical limitations made him fairly ineffective. It was rare that I felt Gallagher didn't put the effort in, but during his entire tenure here it never felt like there was a position he was truly comfortable in. I think his best bet would have been as part of a two up top, but we rarely played that way.

Reality is we had a 11/12k hardcore that has now become 8k. The club seem to have meekly accepted this as have a lot of that hardcore, the future is very grim indeed and those who scoff at it i assume will be happy to pay a lot more next season to cover it ? -

Venky’s (& Suhail) Out Protest Ideas

Unfortunately the "turn the taps off" protest wasn't in flow yesterday. Blackburn End concourse was busy at half time yesterday with pints and food on show all over. Also the boycott suggestion, I asked a couple of folk around me what they thought of it and they laughed and said not a chance. "I miss some games anyway I'm not being told to miss one that I can make" was a comment made to me. Unfortunately as a fanbase I dont think we are anywhere near the "official boycott" stage. -

If word is spread that some work has been done without them having to actually do anything then they (Pasha/Gestede or whoever the hell is this weeks "head of operations") will be absolutely bloomin delighted! My reaction is that it was cutting up - IF any work has been done then i would suggest it would have been minor vertical aeration with knives. Looked a bit similar to a golf course after that operation and it will cut up more in the short term but will only help with draining providing there isn't a compacted layer underneath or the actual drains are insufficient/partially blocked Cost - a few quid or 2 places in a VIP box for a local greenkeeper -

Pitch looked a bit heavy and was cutting up which actually looked like it suited us. No signs of anything other than normal 'work' done on it though. -
Maybe, which I suppose shows contempt for the fans, who paid and therefore contributed their bit to the club.

No!....and yet, sometimes they deliver a Szmodics or a Baradji. However, my argument would be that this shames them even more. It seems that they could get decent signings, but actually choose not to... I still haven't recovered from the insult that was last January's window! -

Sorry to reply to my own post. My assumption about the context of the remark was wrong. I agree with you, @SIMON GARNERS 194. -
I think in terms of skill tbh. For me, Archer’s form has been a plus in this series and I’m glad he’s back. He, Stokes and Root are the ones who emerge with any credit this Ashes, for me.

or maybe they were just told to hint at work possibly having been done? So that nobody can accuse lies coming from those in charge (this time at least) - Today

I watched the game on Rovers TV from my home in Spain. I found it a bit strange on commentary that it was stated that it looked like the pitch had benefited from some work being done on it. I don’t know if it has or not, but given that the supporters who watch the game that way have all paid a subscription and it is Rovers own channel, why were the commentators not told either way, so that they could pass this on to the fans? Surely it isn’t a secret.

Do you think that’s in terms of skills or consistency (or both)?

Good win and well deserved. Want to give some credit to Miller who Milwall were kicking all over the place in my opinion thinking they could get a reaction out of him -
I do think that Australia absolutely have a much better side than us and the gulf in class between both bowling attacks is massive. But I don’t think we’re 3-0 before Santa comes down the chimney bad.

We played well yesterday, surprisingly, it was a great win although Millwall were dreadful, they couldn't string more than 3/4 passes together and their defence were extremely shaky... A team like Cov would have scored 8. I saw a post from someone stating that we'd win given we always seem to perform the game following extreme adversity... Which as we now know, spot on haha. -

Nothing against the lad he seems a good fellow but whoever gave Gueye a contract needs sacking. It's as simple as that, eh Rudy. -

Australia have only won the Ashes back in England once since the 1930s. Of course this is because the buggars usually already have them when they come over.

Seems to be a few people saying that but he didnt look injured, just knackered. I dont think he went down the tunnel for treatment either but may be wrong and not seen anything post match. He is very limited in his all round game, but he does have a natural instinct for being in the right place at the right time and can finish which justifies his place in the team as its the most important part of being a striker. -
