mike at picture Posted June 28, 2007 Posted June 28, 2007 All quiet on the Ewood front? So far this summer has dragged on and on like an episode of "Big Brother"
Fife Rover Posted June 28, 2007 Posted June 28, 2007 Looks like it. Gone quiet, maybe in negotiations? I'm thinking that the next thing we will hear from any official source will be to say that the club has been sold, or that the deal is off.
gazsimm Posted June 28, 2007 Posted June 28, 2007 thought we were going to find out this week if the takeover was going through or not, i suppose it's only Thursday, but all this waiting is doing my head in
philipl Posted June 28, 2007 Posted June 28, 2007 Dan Williams himself has indicated the take over is weeks away.
Presty On Tour Posted June 28, 2007 Posted June 28, 2007 to be fair when a multi million deal is being put through it's paces i don't think the 2 parties want the whole world to know whats going on until it has all been finalised or fallen through for whatever reason.
stuwilky Posted June 28, 2007 Posted June 28, 2007 I presume that in order to continue negotiations Mr J Williams needs to be around? Given that he has been in Portugal for the last few weeks thats probably not happened!
ace Posted June 28, 2007 Posted June 28, 2007 Does anyone on here know if the Williams cosortium are bidding..or considering bidding, for 100% of the shares held by the trustees?
tchocky Posted June 28, 2007 Posted June 28, 2007 So far this summer has dragged on and on like an episode of "Big Brother" That's fine really, as long as things start happening next week when the club staff get back from their holidays.
mike at picture Posted June 28, 2007 Posted June 28, 2007 That's fine really, as long as things start happening next week when the club staff get back from their holidays. If I dont get some tangible transfer(in)/takeover news soon I will go on an armed rampage through the streets of Oswaldtwistle
modes98 Posted June 28, 2007 Posted June 28, 2007 I presume that in order to continue negotiations Mr J Williams needs to be around? Given that he has been in Portugal for the last few weeks thats probably not happened! According to a few articles he's back this week but all of that was related to the takeover talks so it might be total crap.
RevidgeBlue Posted June 28, 2007 Posted June 28, 2007 I presume that in order to continue negotiations Mr J Williams needs to be around? Wouldn't have thought so, the decision to sell the club is not JW's to make. Although no doubt Jersey are liaising with him closely. As regards the earlier point you made about our debt, although we owe money to the Walker Trust we are relatively free of external debt. It's probably reasonable to assume that any purchase price would take that into account leaving new owners with a clean slate.
1864roverite Posted June 28, 2007 Posted June 28, 2007 I would imagine that in this day and age, telephone meetings are the norm using video streaming etc and that should JW be part of any negotiations he would take part in such a conference. I dont really see him playing a massive part as it would surely be the trustees who do the talking and deal making.
stuwilky Posted June 28, 2007 Posted June 28, 2007 According to a few articles he's back this week but all of that was related to the takeover talks so it might be total crap. Next Monday apparently. As regards the earlier point you made about our debt, although we owe money to the Walker Trust we are relatively free of external debt. It depends on your understanding of the word relative.... Relative to a some clubs we have little debt, but our bank borrowing are into 8 figures. Its not exactly a pittance.
Fife Rover Posted June 28, 2007 Posted June 28, 2007 Does anyone on here know if the Williams cosortium are bidding..or considering bidding, for 100% of the shares held by the trustees? Do you think he'll be doing a spot of scouting while he's there?
Backroom trueblue Posted June 28, 2007 Backroom Posted June 28, 2007 I think you quoted the reply underneath the one you actually wanted there Fife
Fife Rover Posted June 29, 2007 Posted June 29, 2007 I think you quoted the reply underneath the one you actually wanted there Fife Aye, it's the failing eyesight and the shaking hands that does it....... Now when I werrr a lad.....!
Fife Rover Posted June 30, 2007 Posted June 30, 2007 Talk about "it's all gone quiet over there"! What's happening; does anybody know anything worth knowing?
Backroom trueblue Posted July 1, 2007 Backroom Posted July 1, 2007 After the last two weeks front page splashes in the Sunday People regarding the take-over bid at Rovers there was diddly squat in this weeks edition ... not a murmer Come on Nicho.. what's going on mate?
92er Posted July 1, 2007 Posted July 1, 2007 I think there was something in the LT in the last few days saying the consortium "might" bid for the club. £50,000,000 was the price mentioned.
Wiggy Posted July 8, 2007 Posted July 8, 2007 Well I don't know whether this has legs or not, seems right that the club were overvalued at £ 67 million to me... Rovers Takeover
doctorryan Posted July 8, 2007 Posted July 8, 2007 IF the information in Wiggy's link is accurate, then my gut tells me that this particular deal is dead in the water.
thenodrog Posted July 8, 2007 Posted July 8, 2007 Good! The yanks are making themselves look bloody foolish. Anybody that can talk in the sums that they are talking yet have obviously not done their homework properly won't have that kind of money for long.
SIMON GARNERS 194 Posted July 8, 2007 Posted July 8, 2007 And after a top-level summit American-based Williams and his financial backers have decided they will only go ahead if the price is lowered - to give them more spare money for players. Eh? I dont think they have the money to back this club with in the first place, dont like the sound of it at all.
