Looks like it. Gone quiet, maybe in negotiations?

I'm thinking that the next thing we will hear from any official source will be to say that the club has been sold, or that the deal is off.

thought we were going to find out this week if the takeover was going through or not, i suppose it's only Thursday, but all this waiting is doing my head in

Posted

to be fair when a multi million deal is being put through it's paces i don't think the 2 parties want the whole world to know whats going on until it has all been finalised or fallen through for whatever reason.

I presume that in order to continue negotiations Mr J Williams needs to be around?

Given that he has been in Portugal for the last few weeks thats probably not happened!

Does anyone on here know if the Williams cosortium are bidding..or considering bidding, for 100% of the shares held by the trustees?

So far this summer has dragged on and on like an episode of "Big Brother" :(

That's fine really, as long as things start happening next week when the club staff get back from their holidays.

If I dont get some tangible transfer(in)/takeover news soon I will go on an armed rampage through the streets of Oswaldtwistle

According to a few articles he's back this week but all of that was related to the takeover talks so it might be total crap. :rover:

Wouldn't have thought so, the decision to sell the club is not JW's to make.

Although no doubt Jersey are liaising with him closely.

As regards the earlier point you made about our debt, although we owe money to the Walker Trust we are relatively free of external debt.

It's probably reasonable to assume that any purchase price would take that into account leaving new owners with a clean slate.

I would imagine that in this day and age, telephone meetings are the norm using video streaming etc and that should JW be part of any negotiations he would take part in such a conference.

I dont really see him playing a massive part as it would surely be the trustees who do the talking and deal making.

Next Monday apparently.

It depends on your understanding of the word relative....

Relative to a some clubs we have little debt, but our bank borrowing are into 8 figures. Its not exactly a pittance.

Do you think he'll be doing a spot of scouting while he's there? :)

After the last two weeks front page splashes in the Sunday People regarding the take-over bid at Rovers there was diddly squat in this weeks edition ... not a murmer

Come on Nicho.. what's going on mate?

Posted

I think there was something in the LT in the last few days saying the consortium "might" bid for the club. £50,000,000 was the price mentioned.

Good! The yanks are making themselves look bloody foolish. Anybody that can talk in the sums that they are talking yet have obviously not done their homework properly won't have that kind of money for long.

Posted

And after a top-level summit American-based Williams and his financial backers have decided they will only go ahead if the price is lowered - to give them more spare money for players.

Eh? I dont think they have the money to back this club with in the first place, dont like the sound of it at all. <_<
