broadsword Posted July 10, 2007 Posted July 10, 2007 Well Man Citeh have just signed Bianchi for 8 mill. Soooooooooooooo, they must be getrting money from somewhere. Wonder if they still want Cruz?
John Posted July 10, 2007 Posted July 10, 2007 I would say Man City would be after at least two strikers - they were woeful up-front last season.
skiporovers Posted July 10, 2007 Posted July 10, 2007 I would say Man City would be after at least two strikers - they were woeful up-front last season. Considering they have 5!! Whos gonna go? Cant see them selling Samaras and they wont make money on Vassell, Dickov or Corradi and Mpenza only just signed in March.... I doubt they will go for Cruz with all that going on or Cruz going to Citeh, when there aint european football. I hope we get him and get rid of Jeffers!
USABlue Posted July 10, 2007 Posted July 10, 2007 Still wanting to know just what Santa Cruz will bring to our team. Folks here seem to be wanting us to sign him but no one seems to be able to answer just how he is supposed to make us better. It certainley is not his goalscoring. So just what does he do for us and what does he bring that we don't have already?

He may not get 20 goals a season but he will create as many as he scores as he is clever player with a great pass and good technical ability

So just what does he do for us and what does he bring that we don't have already? Well he may not hit 20 a season, but he'll definately score more than any striker we currently have besides Benni. Plus he's technically very good, only 25, and ENTERTAINING on the ball. I would rather see Santa Cruz attempt a trick and fail than watch Jason Roberts run straight through a defender and boot the ball out of the stadium.
92er Posted July 10, 2007 Posted July 10, 2007 But we don't have the money to pay wages of 75k a week, Den, so I'm not sure what you're getting at? Didn't we offer him £65,000 per week last year?

Anti-Dingle-Brigade Posted July 10, 2007 Posted July 10, 2007 Worst player Roque Santa Cruz. Dangerous like a toothless tigress, pacy like a Fiat Punto with flat tyres, strong-willed and powerful like a stoned earthworm. Stuart Hall must have written this
Cocker Posted July 10, 2007 Posted July 10, 2007 Oh dear, oh dear... Someone on here must know how to get to Mark Hughes and send this to him
joey_big_nose Posted July 10, 2007 Posted July 10, 2007 Oh dear Oh dear, oh dear... I suppose that explains why we can afford him. I would back Hughes to turn any player around, and this guy has genuine talent. Shouldn't pay more than 4m though.
daren Posted July 10, 2007 Posted July 10, 2007 Oh dear Oh dear, oh dear... That first link is the funniest thing I've read this month. Someone needs to do that for the premiership!
USABlue Posted July 10, 2007 Posted July 10, 2007 Anybody still wanna drop 4.5 MIl on him? Anyone still excited about this fella? Anyone still feel the club are being skinflints denying sparky cash? Two quite damning articles there. Sounds more like A Trialist than a 4Mil exciting buy.

Does anyone else think he is another member of the “Hughes school of Striker Rehabilitation” If so that amount of money is steep for a misfiring reject. Couldn’t we just take him on loan to cure him

You have to say that there are numerous examples of players being disappointing at one club and then doing the business at another. Bellamy before he came to us is one, Suton when he move from Chelsea to Celtic, McCarthy, Tugay, Bentley. Hughes deserves respect for his judgement, has worked so much magi in the transfer market. As for the board not backing him with the cash, it is hard to see how Wigan can spend so much and we are not, yet its still early days. And there is no point in splashing out for the sake of it. Hughes will be looking to get value for money and I m sure that 5m+ for Koumas does not constitute value for money.

tchocky Posted July 10, 2007 Posted July 10, 2007 With our current strikeforce there just isn't room for any talents or bit-part players. We already have 3 talents in Matty, Rigters and Gally. A new striker would have to be at the same level as Benni or at least better than our current nr 2, Roberts.

SIMON GARNERS 194 Posted July 10, 2007 Posted July 10, 2007 Derbyshire who so far looks a decent prospect, Rigters an unknown quantity at this level and Gally who is doing his best to return to the fizzy pop league and also the great fanny Jeffers who aint worth the steam off my p1ss. Our strikeforce needs strengthening with experienced quality....make no mistake about that.
tchocky Posted July 10, 2007 Posted July 10, 2007 Indeedy. Could use a few more promising central midfielders though. Unless there are some more gems in the academy that we don't know of.
